My oldest is a PTA in a healthcare and rehab center. The facility was finally scheduled for the vaccine this week. Unfortunately a little over 2 weeks ago they had their first case of COVID hit. Resident cases are rising rapidly, and the healthcare workers are also being impacted. They are now up to at least a dozen residents/healthcare providers who have tested positive. DD was to get her vaccine yesterday but is now on a wait to see if she has COVID, as she has some symptoms and was recently working with 2 of the residents who have since tested positive.
Now my SIL works for a hospital in the business office. They are in a separate building from the hospital and she doesn't come into contact with any patients or medical personnel but has already had the vaccine, she was in the last group. Started there about 3 weeks ago. She hesitated and knows people who opted out. Wish the vaccine could be distributed to those who want it, and are most vulnerable.
Without going through all the posts, why do people think many in healthcare/medical personnel aren't getting the shot? I think there is always the assumption that the conspiracy group/deniers are foolish or not educated, so why are so many in the medical field not getting the vaccine?
