I will be taking my digital camera on the cruise (Feb 2 - 9) and was wondering if facilities were avialable for transferring my photos from compact flash to CD? Thank you.

Hi:wave:
Since they dont have CD transfers and you don't want to bring a computer you may want to try the link below. On a recent month long trip to Alaska I took over 6000 pictures and downloaded them each night. The good thing is if you want to edit daily you can by plugging the device into the ship TV. greatest thing since sliced bread or Mickey Pancakes :)

Photo Ablum

You can not make any connections to the Internet terminals other than with a floppy disk, so you'd need to bring your laptop for that.

Hi Folks:wave:

Dave: The product mentioned above eliminates the need to carry a 7-11 pound laptop with you and you do not have to connect to the INTERNET to use it. It is a self enclosed hard drive with an awful lot of storage space. Their IS NO NEED for your laptop. As I said in the previous post, take your daily fix of pics, (I used a 128 MB card which allowed for about 130 pictures on the card) and then pop out the card and put it into the Digital Album, download, and reset the card for your camera. You then attach the Album via a RCA jack to the back of a television and you see your pictures. You can even delete the pics you don't want. When you get home you can connect the Album via USB cable to your laptop or desktop and the computer recognizes the album as an additional drive. You can either edit, adjust, rename, delete or copy from either device. At about 2 pounds it beats lugging around the laptop and is about the size of a pack of index cards. As I said earlier, 6000 pics with plenty of room for more over a month, it even works on batteries if you do not have access to an outlet.:)

I too take a lot of pics with my digital camera. I have 2 128mb CF cards but use them up in a few days. For the trip we just took I bought a portable hard drive device. Can't remeber the name. But it is small. About the size of a small walkman and it will hold 3gb of pics. You can easily transfer your CF card info to it.

If this interests you let me know and I will get some more details for you.

J&J - Just when you tell your wife " ya know they should make a thing that......" , you know someone already makes it but just do not know where to find it.

We have not gone digital with a camera yet but am looking and this device sure answered the question of storage while on a trip. The thought of dragging along a laptop was not appealing at all.

What size of drive did you get on the Photo Album to store that many images?

So as not to drag things on here please email me any suggestion on a digital camera.

Now, ya know they should make a thing that downloads you digital images and then can burn them to a CD..........
