Cc pelican plunge

No there isn't age or height limit, but if I recall everybody must go down the slide by themselves. It is quite deep, though there are lifejackets available.

Enjoy your cruise!

What you can do though if ability is a question is to have an adult go first and you can loiter in the water out of the way.

I believe all kids must wear a lifejacket on Pelican Plunge. My 8 year old daughter is a strong swimmer (swam 1.4 miles from Alcatraz to San Fran) and had to wear a lifejacket. Needless to say she wasn't impressed :) It does shoot you out into the saltwater rather forcefully and it's easy to get disoriented so I'm glad they require lifejackets.

Everyone has to swim out to PP to ride.(40-60 feet) That's how they (life guards) determine if you will survive the plunge. :lmao:
If you can't make it out , you will not be riding the slides. :p ;)

If PP is 40-60' from shore, how deep is the water for the swim out?

It's very deep so I don't understand the other responses. You definitely have to swim out. If I had to guess it looks to be around 15-20 feet out by the float.

So I couldn't take my 2 year old on it?

Technically, if the 2 year old can swim out (yes, they can wear a life vest), wait at the top by them self, and go down by them self, you can. You can't ride tandem on the slides.

But when my kids were 2 I wouldn't have done it.

Ok thank you.

This is our first cruise and I haven't read or looked at castaway cay much. I want it all to be a big surprise. :D

Just got back and there *is* a height requirement for Pelican Plunge. I believe it's 38 inches. Water is deep enough that you cannot walk to the stairs, you must be able to swim to it. I would say that a 2-year old would have difficulties with it. More of an activity for ages 4 and up.

It's awful, our whole family hated it (kids are 8 and 9). It's not like a regular water slide which directs you across the top of the water, it shoots you directly down, propelling you forcefully under the water...

The kids did like the water cannons out there though!

There is a splash play area on land for younger kids :)

Hmmmm I've seen this a few times but when we were there in April I towed my young (5) ones out one at a time (the other one waited on the beach), went down the slide just before they did and then towed them back in. Lifeguards didn't say anything about it at the time.

That's great thank you ;)

DH is fishing the day we are at Castaway Cay so I'm on my own with DD glad there is a play area I can take her too.

My DD 11 is like a little fish and she hated it last September. It rather forcefully shoots you out into the water, and one time getting a face/nose full of salt water was enough for her. :rolleyes1

We all went down both slides on our cruise and from what recall, one of the chutes was a much more forceful entry into the water than the other. I want to say that the left slide (as you are standing on the platform to slide down) was faster/more forceful than the other.

I liked the less forceful one a lot better!

The closed one is faster and my DS loved both of them. He was 5 the first time and almost 7 our last two visits. He isn't the strongest swimmer so I made him wear a lifejacket even though I think he was tall enough not to.
