The cabanas ate a bit pricey on CC. However we have 6 adults and with tubes and snorkel rental and other amenities it offers, is it worth the extra?

Whether it's "worth it" or not is really up to you. Have priced the snorkel/tube rental cost? And compared it to what a cabana costs? Will you utilize the cabana if everyone is out most of the day doing other stuff?

For us (only 2 of us) it's not worth it. If we were a larger party with young children (who might require some down time during the day) and/or older family members who really can't be out in the sun all that much, it could be worth it.

We have always wanted a cabana but have never been lucky enough to get one. Even as a gold cruiser they have been sold out when our booking window opens. I think it is worth it.

Stocked fridge with cold drinks and water
Electric wall plugs (for example, plug in to recharge your electronics)
Suntan lotion
Private hammock
Personal float tubes
Snorkeling equipment rental

Nearby shower (right outside)
Magazines
Facial tissue
Trashcan
Hanging closet
Cocktail table, sofa, two chairs inside
Call button for attendant
Overhead fan
Privacy curtains over windows

Private beach in family cabanas
There is a safe in them, just as in your onboard cabin.
You can eat lunch there (table and chairs). Your host might give you a ride to/from the buffet.
There is a changing curtain for get into/out of swimwear
A drink host will come and take your order for alcoholic drinks and bring them to you.
They provide a plate of cold, wet towels. Great for cleaning/cooling off.
Lot of chairs inside and out (on the porch) for relaxing
Once at the end of the day, our host took us from our cabana to the ship's reboarding point in his golfcart. Wow!

Whether it is "worth" it is an individual question. We love the cabana because of the private beach and having a quiet place to relax and keep our stuff. We always find CC day to be our favorite of the cruise, largely because the cabana makes the day so relaxing and luxurious.

Worth is definitely an individual decision. All the perks listed above are nice but by no means required to have a great day on Castaway Cay. I think part of the "worth" equation is what are your plans while on Castaway Cay? If you are planning on going a lot of other places -- snorkeling, boat excursion, exploring the "other" beach (Serenity Bay if you have a Family Beach cabana or vice versa), going for bike ride, getting a massage, etc. We don't always get a cabana, but when we do, those are the days we just want to relax and having the cabana really helps in extending the time we are on Castaway Cay doing "nothing" (we get off the ship earlier than we normally would and stay later when we have a cabana). Splitting the cost of a cabana between 6 adults certainly makes it seem like a more reasonable price (we think of it as an excursion price per person). I will say on my most recent cruises, even as a platinum castaway club member logging in right at midnight, cabanas are slim pickings. So unless you are concierge, they can be hard to come by.

We always try to get one, its a splurge for sure, but worth it to us.
Only once on The Fantasy in 2014 could we not get one and the beach was so crowded, with 2 small kids that wanted to play in the surf and no chairs available anywhere near the water it was tough.
The private family beach is so quiet and empty. On our last cruise, they were in that water for hours and hours just playing and enjoying. They thanked us over and over all day for getting a "hut" for the day.

If you can't book one online before the cruise, be sure to go to the Port Adventures desk as soon as you board and they will put you on a waitlist incase anyone cancels the one they booked. We have been lucky twice going that route.

We love it! It is a planned expense for us-if we can get one (Gold), but if not, it is not a deal breaker. We still have a great time!

We were lucky to get one on our last cruise (silver) it was very nice and we all enjoyed it but it is very pricey.

As a note regarding the "crowding" - OP if your party is truly all adults, I have NEVER - even on the Dream in high season July - seen Serenity Bay crowded. Right at the entrance? Sure, there are people who will just plop there. But take a few more steps and there are plenty of chairs and space.

I got a cabana for my parents and myself a couple of weeks ago and it was nice - especially since my dad is a couple of weeks away from hip replacement surgery. Having the golf cart to come and take him to the bathroom or to lunch was definitely nice and helped us have a much better day than otherwise. But when not dealing with health issues we have had awesome times on Serenity Bay, no cabana needed.

As others have said, "worth" is subjective. Here are some figures based on your question:

• tube/float rentals = $11
• snorkel equipment rental = $32
• bike rental = $11
• getaway package (includes all 3 above items) = $43
• family beach cabana = $549 for 6 guests
• Serenity Beach cabana = $399 for 4 guests + $50 per additional guest

However, I also wanted to point out... I believe you are a first-time DCL cruiser. While possible to score a cabana as a first-timer, the odds are against you. I don't suggest getting your hopes up to the point that you'll be disappointed if unable to get a cabana this cruise. They likely will be sold out by the time you do online check-in and book activities, though if you really want one you may be able to find one later by stalking the website daily in the event someone cancels.

Wow! You did all the math for me. And yes, 1st time cruiser. Thank you so much for the heads up. Well. Maybe you can help with the next question. Will we have enough time to do some snorkeling at family beach to see the Mickey stuff, bike ride and then eat and relax at the adult beach? Are we able to tube and snorkel at adult beach?
