We are planning a grand gather (15 in all!) this summer. Originally we were going to do Polynesian but with since we are paying for the whole thing, 4 rooms at the Poly is very expensive. We were thinking of downgrading to CBR. I visited CBR once and really liked the tropical feel.

Now I know a mod is different than the deluxes we are used to. Since this will be the grandchildren's first trip they won't have anything to compare it to so I'm hoping that they'll love CBR. When they all leave DH, me and the three younger kids will switch over to GF.

The ages of the kids at travel time will be 31/2, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Give me your best resort tips. I know the Main Pool will be closed, will the quiet pools (with the added slides and kids activities) be big enough for the resort?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

We've stayed at the CBR twice and loved everything about it. The theming is wonderful. It's so nice to just laze around in a hammock on the white sandy beaches while the kids make sandcastles. Be sure to buy the chicken nugget meals for the kids. They come in plastic sand pails.

There is also a pirate cruise for the kids (I think it was about $35.00). They take them out on the lake on a pontoon boat and search for treasure at various spots on the beach. We rented the small watermice boats and when the pontoon boat would pass us, the kids would shake their fists at us and yell AARRGGHH!

Over at the marina, you can rent the surrey bikes. Kids enjoy riding on the four seaters and ringing the bell.

There are playgrounds on some of the beaches for the kids to play on.

Some days, the castmembers held a limbo contest for the kids in the food court. They really loved this and the winners were given Certificates.

The island in the middle of the lake is a great picnic spot. You can enjoy a nice lunch and listen to the steel drum music. There are benches and hammocks all around the island too.

Hope this helps. Lisa

I stayed at the CBR in May with my brother his wife and their two children 4 and 18 months.
We loved it! The resort is large but so beautiful, the landscaping is really nice the walk to the food court really was not too bad( we were in Aruba).
There are plenty of quiet pools throughout the resort, I think each section has one.
We never had a long wait for the buses, and the internal bus was a nice feature if you were too tired to walk to the food court.
There were plenty of selections at the food court and the food was quite good.
I had been hesitant about staying there because it was so large, but I let my sister-in-law pick the resort and once we were there I was happy she chose the CBR.

I've stayed at CBR at least 10 times over the years. It is a beautiful resort. I love the walk over the island to Old Port Royale and hearing the calypso music in the background. It's also nice to sit on the beach in a hammock and just relax a little. The rooms are a nice size and have everything you need - fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, blow dryer. There is also a curtain to close off the vanity area so you can get dressed in private or get ready in the morning without waking up those still sleeping.

With respect to the pool situation. We always swim in the quiet pool and it is usually not crowded at all. It is usually very relaxing. I am certain that this will change though with the closure of the main pool. I'm sure the quiet pools will be much more crowded and not as relaxing because of the addition of the slides. Probably a lot more kids and a lot more splashing, etc. That's okay though - kids and pools is what it is all about while on vacation. When my kids were younger, that's all they ever asked when we stayed at a hotel - "Is there a pool!" So while the main pool is closed, it will probably make more sense to take the word "quiet" out of the pools in the villages!!
