Hi -
We're new to Disney cruising and are considering a 3 day cruise. Does anyone know what the outside porthole category 9 rooms are like on Deck 2 mid-ship? We don't want to make a big mistake!

Thanks

The Wonder won't be bad. On the Magic Ocean Quest is midship and the kids are very loud in the stairwell outside the area.

I was in stateroom 2070 and this time on the opposite side a wee bit closer toward the back. They were absolutely perfect! Next year we are going on the Magic, now I am nervous about our mid ship cabin! :scared1:

We've been mid-ship twice on Deck 2 of the Magic.

Once we were in 2578 on our Jan '07 cruise and in 2590 on the Repo this past August.

No problems with 2578, just no steamer trunk.

In 2590, there was a vibration from across the hall (no rooms there, so must be mechanical).

I searched out the rooms down there and based on layout (we like the bed to the left as we walk in), with a steamer trunk, without the vibration, and down enough from the Ocean Quest emergency door (that's where the noise will come from), and found that 2574 would be best.

All cabins in Categories 5-10 are exactly the same size and offer the same amenities. The only difference is their "view" (5/6/7s have balconies, 8/9s have portholes and 10s are inside). Other than that your stateroom will be exactly the same as a Category 5/6. Category 9s on Deck 2 are great and have a very large porthole. Deck 2 is our favorite place to stay on the ship (we've stayed on 2, 5, 6 & 7), although we prefer to be far Forward. Midship will be just fine on the Wonder and will also be fine on the Magic, as long as you are not right at the stairwell/elevator area. As lbgraves said, that area can be a bit noisy with all of the kids at Ocean Quest. If you are on the Magic and near the stairwell you can see about switching cabins. (FYI...Cabins 2002, 2004, 2502 and 2504 are longer than most 9s. They are located where the ship bows out so you get an extra few feet of space. Be warned though...2502 and 2504 are under Diversions so they may be noisy. 2002 and 2004 are under the piano bar but we didn't hear a bit of noise.)

Happy Sailing.

Just returned from the 9/27-10/4 Double Dip on the Magic. We were in cabin 2058, midship, right near the elevators and the entrance to Ocean Quest. We didn't experience any noise or vibrations. It was quiet despite being near the elevators. I loved that we could see our cabin door as we entered the hallway. We also had a steamer trunk. Plenty of storage for two seniors 60+..

We were on the Magic in 2106, just a bit forward from the aft elevators. No noise, vibration except when thrusters are on then you feel it all over the ship anyway.

We liked it so much we booked the same location for 2008, 2009, and 2010. :thumbsup2

My son loves OQ and could easily go back and forth from our cabin. Laundry rooms are port side between aft and mid-ship elevators so overall a very convenient location.

Perhaps it was the length of the PC Repo cruise that cause the problems with the tween group being so noisy and rowdy shipwide. They hung out in the area outside of the OQ as well as inside. It is good to know that the problem is not as bad on the regular 7 day cruises. We also learned that the deck 5 forward rooms are not good for noise on the longer cruises because the CMs need to practice the shows that they do not do on a regular basis. This is done after the stage is switched out after the late show...so they were practicing until 1:30 am one morning. I taped it with my camera to see if the base and noise of the Phantom of the Opera music was as anoying as it seemed or if it was being exagerated by the fact that it was so late at night. On the plus side, DD loved listening to and dancing all over the stateroom when Aly & AJ were practicing the afternoon we were in Aruba. We could clearly identify the songs that were being sung in our room...#5502. On a regular 7 night cruise this noise is not an issue.

Just got back from the 9/27 double dip and we had 2088 on the Magic - loved that room, in fact we booked the same exact room for our 09 trip. It is right between the 2 elevator bays (mid and aft) and down the hall a bit from the laundry (which we never ended up using). It was quiet, never heard any kids but was soooo convenient to get right up to 3 for dinner, etc.

We were in 2060 on the Wonder in March and loved it! We heard noise only during dinner when the characters where right above doing autographs and such. It was so easy to get to and we never felt that we were extremley moving. We've booked almost the same room for our 2009 cruise, just on the other side so we will hopefully dock at CC looking out our stateroom at it!

You will LOVE your cabin!! Deck two is awesome because it is super quiet with little foot traffic, has the laundry close by and is closest to the debarkation areas on port days. And the port holes are HUGE compared to other cruiselines port holes. We will always sail in a category 9 on DCL.

WOW! I just looked it up and that is the same room I am going to be staying in when I take my cruise next June. What exactly did like about the room? Is there a steamer trunk? What's the best part about staying in that room? Were there any drawbacks? Thanks for any comments or advice.:cool1:

I stayed in 2546 for several cruises and it is a great location....just forward of the mid-ship elevators on the starboard side. A quick trip from the atrium and so convenient to everything. We had a steamer trunk and no problems with the room at all.

Deck 2 is a great location. Hint...for any of the mid-ship cabins...head to the forward elevators as they are much easier to get than the mid-ship elevators.

We just got back from our second cruise - the first in stateroom 2072 and the second in 2074. They were awesome -- easy access to either end of the ship. Sometimes Ocean Quest was a little loud passing the door in the hall, but we couldn't hear any one else from our room.

We were in room 2552 for the WB PC Repo. We loved this room. There wasn't a problem with the teens nearby. There was no unusual ship noise to speak of either. And, we loved being close to the elevators/stairs mid-ship. I would definitely stay in this room again.

I'm at work so I don't have my notes handy. And Dave's DCL Tribute site (that lists noisy cabins on deck 2) is no longer working. Does someone have that list of cabins on deck 2 that are potentially noisy due to location? If so, please share. Thanks!

I forgot I had this in my favorites.

I wish I had read this last spring before booking our cabin for our next cruise in 09. I probably wouldn't have chosen 2618 & 2616. I wonder if my TA could find us something better...

We were in cabin 2050 on our Oct. cruise. Loved the location. Easy to get around the ship, and the rooms on deck 2 have the larger portholes. Never had any problems with noise; very quiet location. I wouldn't hesitate to book a cat 9 cabin in this part of the ship again.
