We have booked 3 catagory 12 cabins for our Sept 5 cruise.
Just wondering who has had this catagory and where were you assigned to?
This is the first time we have done the guarantee booking.

We were upgraded to an 8....However, have cruised in an 11. This is the same as a 12, only on different decks.

12s are inside on decks 1 and 2.

My original reservation was showing as a GTY but when we received our preliminary docs is says that we are in 6139. Although these are not the final cruise docs, there is always the possibility of getting an upgrade (especially when the DCL site shows that CATs 10 to 12 are currently sold out).

My TA is telling me we have a good chance to get upgraded but nothing is for sure.

See you on the cruise.

"Preliminary docs" ???

Okay, I am really confused. You are saying that made your reservation with a Cat 12 gty, then received something else (obviously a couple of months or more in advance) that had you with a room number? I don't understand why you received some additional paperwork between your initial reservation and receiving your "final" documents.

Drcell01: If you have stateroom 6139 then you are in a CAT. 11 so if you book a GTY 12 then you have been upgraded ::yes:: congrats!!

There are only 13 CAT 12 cabins and they are all on Deck 2. They only sleep 3 people where as CAT 11 can sleep 4

Ok...I'll take your word for it...it makes sense if all of the CAT 12's are on deck 2.

As for the docs, I received a confirmation from making my final payment that states CAT 12 but shows 6139 as the assigned cabin.

Hope that clears up some of my fog.:hyper:

I am being told that it is still possible to get upgraded further but don't hold my breath:goodvibes

Deck 1 is at the bottom...with deck 11 being the stack.

Like DisneyDreamer8 stated there are ONLY 13 cat 12 rooms and they are all located on deck 2. Room # 6139 is a cat 11 on deck 6 aft. ::yes::

Thats cool you were able to get a room number when you recieved your confirmations of last payment (if i understood correctly thats when you found out??). I was hoping we would have recieved our room number by now...but so far no luck. We are also booked in a cat 12 gty. I have my fingers crossed for an upgrade..but I'm not going to hold my breath.:teeth:

Upgrade or no upgrade...the cruise will be wonderful.

Happy sailing...and best of luck on a second upgrade.:wave2:

Got our cofirmation papers yesterday and it still shows gty. Cat 12.

Guess I'll find out Sept 5 when we board.

Doesn't matter anyway I won't be at work.

SO do they automatically bump you sometimes? Or can you just go and ask. We are in Cat 12 and I was starting to get nervous about it being bad down there. That's what I get for being a cheapskate!

We've done both cat. 11 and cat. 6. Loved the cat. 6, but for the difference in price we were perfectly happy with a cat. 11. Cat. 12 rooms are essentially the same, except for location. Any room is perfect for me on DCL!!

We were in cat 11 and it was fine for the three of us. We were basically there to sleep, change clothes and meet each other at various times.

:sunny:

That makes me feel better! I have heard that is all you are there to do anyway, so it makes no difference to me. But I guess it would be nice to be able to say you were in a cat. 1 or 2 or 3 or whatever. Do people really stay in those? :)

We've sailed as an 11 several times. DD does like a window, but I point out that we can do more cruises if we book lower. You (we) really don't spend time in the cabin. We had a 6 once. Unfortunately, it was July (I'll never do that again), was 106 degrees, and we couldn't use the verandah at all.

Reality is that for us, I'd rather save a few hundred dollars and book an 11 or 12. Yes, people do sail in 1,2,and 3...and those people have a few perks. However, when I pay $799 for a 7 day and they pay $4000....I'd rather go on 4 cruises.

The suites can be a good deal IF you have a party of 6 or 7. We're fine in an 11. We have booked gty 12 and gotten 11 on our next cruise. The 11 and 12 do have a single bathroom (rather then the double room), so if there are more than 2 or 3 of you, you might like the split bath of a 10.

Well, there are 3 of us and that is two kids 5 and 3 and me, so I think we should be fine. I think I would rather save the money as well!
