Castaway Cay - what to see and do

I really want to do parasailing while at castaway cay. We have 2 kids but I want to do it with my wife. First of all - can we do that? Secondly - what is the best option to do with the kids? Is there a place where we could leave them?

Also - what is the age restrictions to go parasailing....

Would appreciate your input. Thanks...

Check the kids into the kids clubs on the island. They are fun and you can enjoy a little couple time. They also take the kids to lunch at meal times.

I know that we *can* snorkel just off the beach at Castaway Cay, but I would prefer something a little more adventurous. Has anyone done this excursion? How is the snorkeling???pirate:

Does anyone know where I could find a copy of a menu with all of the yummy drink options, like Konk Koolers, that are offered at Castaway Cay. I could sure use something like that to help with the daydreaming this week. Thanks!

allears dot net has the recipe for Konk Koolers, and probably others if you look. I'm too new to post links, but search on google and you'll find it.

How is the adult beach? Is it crowded or are most people of doing other things? I'm trying to plan a mother/daughter trip and I'm not sure if DCL will be good for us or not. We would just want to spend the day relaxing by the water. Can you rent cabanas there?

It has not been very crowded when we've been there. And yes, starting this summer, there will be four new cabanas available to rent.

I am first time cruiser (never done in any of the other cruise lines too). Could some one here please help me with excursion at Nassau and castaway cay?
myself and my DH and DD (6 years old) are crusing and I shortlisted Blue Lagoon Dolphin encounter excursion at Nassau. The morning one starts at 9:45 am , but the ship reaches Nassau only at 9:30 am. How will they take us from the ship to the excursion spot in just 15 minutes? Or shall I book the afternoon one to be on the safer side? I am booking directly through Disney website.

And the next day in Castaway Cay, is stingray feeding enjoyable one for a 6 year old? Thank you all so much!

The adult beach is AWESOME. There are some rocky reefs in some areas in the water, but there are also areas where it's just sand. Everything is spotlessly clean and beautiful.

Although the hammocks are taken up fairly early (our friends got there at about 10 AM and got the last free hammock), there are plenty of chairs with and without umbrellas. We spent most of the day at Serenity Bay and not once was every single chair filled up (and I think our cruise was close to sold out).

I don't know about renting cabanas--I don't think you could when we were there--but we did get massages in beachfront cabanas! They aren't cheap (probably about $150 per person for an hour) but honestly, that was some of the best money I've ever spent--having the ocean breeze flowing over us and the sound of the waves in the background. A.ma.zing.

Also, if you drink, the waiters are attentive and the drinks are flowing. Castaway Cay, and specifically Serenity Bay, were the absolute BEST parts of our cruise. Check out my TR if you're interested in an adults' perspective of Disney Cruise Line...I'm 27, my fiance is 30, and our friends who went with us are 27 and 25.

Has anyone done the waverunner excursion on CC?

Is it worth it?

Thanks!

My son and I did the waverunner excursion back in May '08. They call it an "environmental tour," but that aspect is minimal. You all just get on your waverunners and after a short instruction period, go as fast as you can to keep up with the guide!! The craft were nearly new and in great condition.

If you've been on a waverunner before and realize that they can get a bit rough, (and can deal with that) then go for it. If you don't think you'd like full-throttle in the open sea, then pass.

How much is the parasailing? How do you book it?? Can I do it tandem with my 10 yr old? Is there a weight limit (DH is 6'8 big guy). Do they take pictures of you for souvenirs??

You will meet at Animator's Palate (or perhaps elsewhere- that is where we met on May 24, 2010) at 9:45. You probably won't arrive at Blue Lagoon until around 11:00. For us, it was a 30-45 minute boat ride. We got back to the ship around 2:00. Buy some water to take with you. It was $15 for 3 canned sodas and 3 SMALL bags of Lays chips out there!

We were on the Fantasy June 29-July 5, 2014. We did the Rigid Hull Snorkeling excursion. We were DS 13, DD 11, DH, and myself. It was amazing. Everyone agreed it was the best excursion ever. On the way to the snorkel reef we encountered a pod of dolphins. We got the best pictures and they came so close you could almost touch them. You could not see the Fantasy from where we were, it was so far out. We were taken out to a point in the Caribbean Sea, a natural coral reef, and open water snorkeled for about an hour. Then we were taken to natural sand bar, in the middle of the ocean, and played and swam from it for about 45 minutes. We were able to collect shells. I just can't describe how relaxing and gorgeous it was. We had about 10 to 12 people on our excursion and there were no other people or boats at either location we went to. And the same pod of dolphins met us on our return ride in! One thing, put on a ton of sunscreen and reapply. This is one excursion that shouldn't be missed.
