Just want to know where do you store away your things if you decide to go snorkeling if you are only traveling with your SO. No kids. Is there a locker? :S

Hoping someone can answer this for me!

Just take a bag of some type, place your items in there, and cover it with a towel. We have done this and this is how most people handle their items at CC.

I have a waterproof wristlet for ID and KTTW card. Everything else is just in my beach bag. I do not have an expensive camera, so have never been concerned about people taking anything. Some folks here recommend a KYSS bag which is lockable and can be locked to a chair. http://kyssbags.com/

No lockers, other than an open storage box that is used during the 5k race.

We moved our stuff from serenity beach to near the snorkeling lagoon and put it on a chair and threw a towel on it along with our shoes. Didn't have an issue, but I can see how it could be worrisome. One thing I recommend is if you have a camera, start castaway cay day with a brand new memory card. You do not want to lose your whole vacation of photos and videos because it either got water or sand on it, or heaven forbid someone just takes your camera while you are away.

I've never worried about it at CC. I only have my KTTW card and DL and a cheap camera. The biggest issue if someone stole my camera would be losing the pictures on it, but I find that most times I am taking picts on two devices, my waterproof digital camera and either my phone or my DD's iPod Touch. If we lost the camera, we'd still have similar pictures on the other device.

I'll also point out that "stuff" like KTTW cards, credit cards, and even cash can get wet. My husband just uses the pocket in his swim trunks, and I use a more time-honored place of concealment for ladies :rolleyes1. If you are talking about larger things, like towels, or a book, as noted, you can just leave them on your chair.

I always have my camera (waterproof) strapped to my wrist, so it goes in the water with me.

I tend to be one of those people that just leaves stuff with a towel over it and never have had a problem. We have been cruising since the Inaugural Magic cruise and never had an issue. I also leave stuff tucked in our stroller parked at the front of the park with towels or blankets over them and same in all the years of going.

I've never had a problem at Castaway Cay (or in the pool area on the ship, for that matter) with just leaving things by our seating area and covering with a towel. I do have a KYSS bag as mentioned by a PP, and if I'm carrying any cash or our good camera I will use it and lock things to our chairs. The bag is by no means guaranteed protection and the chain would be easy to cut if someone intended to, but it's a simple deterrent and far more than enough peace of mind on CC. Unless you have something of major value, I wouldn't worry.

I have read a lot of discussion on the "saving" of chairs on the ship. Does this not apply to CC? If we were to leave our things, on a chair, covered with a towel on CC, it would be safe from removal of a perturbed guest? I'm asking only because our first cruise is coming up, and I'd like to know the etiquette on CC vs. the ship as far as "staking claim on the chairs" goes...

People tend to get more cranky about the reserving of hammocks more than the chairs themselves, since well, there are thousands of chairs and like 50 hammocks.

While the policy of saving chairs also applies to those at Castaway Cay, it seems that there's much less angst with using the chairs/loungers for most of the day, even if you aren't in them.

As noted, hammocks, however, are "prime" property. Although I never really enjoyed a hammock, there are people who plop all their gear in them and head out for parts unknown while on Castaway Cay, never really lying in the hammock, but using them for storage.

There are tons of chairs and umbrellas at CC versus a limited number by the pool. I think most understand that people use the chairs on CC as their "home base" while on the island so there will be stuff on the chairs even while people are out enjoying other parts of the island.

you can grab a net bag with your snorkel equipment and then throw shoes and stuff in that while snorkeling. We left them on the beach under a tree

Thanks for your responses! It's good to knowthe ins and outs before we leave.

I am in a wheelchair and often wait for my wife on the beach whilst she swims. I offer and am asked to watch people's items under towels etc. You can always ask somebody near by to watch yours. I am always more thsn happy when asked.

I always find the concept of asking a stranger to watch your stuff somewhat amusing. How do you know that person is any more trustworthy than anyone else? By asking a person to watch your stuff, you're telling them you have something valuable and that you are going to be away and not watching your property for a while.

Well I guess you are right but maybe people think that I look innocent in my wheelchair with my Captain America wheels. Little do they know this is how I fund my next cruise lol...

:rotfl:I must also look trustworthy as I get asked often to watch people's luggage at airports while they get something to eat or run to the restroom. I always do when asked, but I wonder how often someone gets burned by relying on a stranger to guard their stuff.
