Castaway Cay Challenge back in 2026?

I was planning to do Dopey + Castaway Cay Challenge this year, but it is not being held, unfortunately. We even booked the cruise anticipating it. We've since moved to another cruise and I'm still doing Dopey. Fingers crossed it comes back for you next year.

I have been eyeing this for 2026. Cruises are being released soon for spring 2026. Any predictions whether they will be kind enough to bring the Castaway Cay Challenge for 2026? I have been so sad to see it hasn’t come back. It’s been a bucket list item for awhile

I would love it if it did! I am skipping Marathon Weekend in 2025, but plan to do my fifth Dopey in 2026, and would love it if I could tack on the Castaway Cay Challenge. My wife and I were even talking about that yesterday when looking at the new cruise release dates.

I think there has to be an actual Castaway Cay race first, and by that I mean a return to how it was run pre-2020. Right now the race consists of walking up to the bike rental shack and asking for a medal. If I remember how the challenge was run in 2020 and before, you had to have an actual cruise reservation at the time of marathon registration to be able to select it. If it becomes just like the virtual races where Disney charges you an exorbitant cost for a medal, but don’t have a dedicated race, then I’m not interested. I loved the old Castaway race where everyone gathered in the lounge early in the morning, were the first off the boat, and had a really fun organized race.

UPDATE! We booked the Wish for right after Marathon Weekend, just in case the Castaway Cay Challenge does come back. I think we'll likely cancel the cruise if the Castaway Cay Challenge doesn't make a return. But at least we're prepared if it does.
