At this time, I don't think the 5k has returned to it's pre-pandemic status. It is available to do on the "honor system" but not as an organized run; I think you can stop by Guest Services for a medal.

You are correct. They say to go to Guest Services for your medal. DH went, when he went back to the ship for something (I wanted a picture of the medal on the island), however unfortunately they did not have them ready yet. I think he was probably too early. They did however deliver them to our room for us, right as we were pulling away from CC, along with a very nice note. They really went out of their way.

I have seen reports here of people getting the medal at the store at the end of the 5K however that was not our experience in February. As always, these things are subject to change.

And there was no pre registration as of February. You just run on your own.

Do they currently have any shirts on the Cay for the “race”? I mean I’m fine if I have to DIY a run, but I do need a shirt if possible.

I’ll be curious to see if a more organized run eventually returns especially with them doing the challenge again for marathon weekend

Unless they get the on your own, not paid, not a true 5K one going by then, the only one for sure that will be organized (and officially 5K) is the official RunDisney one - but you have to have done qualifying races at WDW AND signed up for the challenge to participate in that. (And honestly the "organized fun run" is still honor system - I've seen more than a few people skip the second loop or the runway out and back and go claim their medalion.)

I did the honor-system 5K in April. They had lots of medals at the bike rental hunt which is where the race course starts and ends.

Yes, there are several styles of shirt for the 5K for sale on the island

In March, my daughter and I received our medals at the bike rental stand that is located at the Start/Finish of the Castaway Cay 5K.

Yes, pick up your medals at the bike rental stand. There is no need to go all the way back to the ship to get them.
