Does the price go up if you leave the company? Just because I'm part of the college program campus rep and get the same discounts as I was on the program and my grandma works down there but if she doesn't stay does the price go up? just curious. Thanks!

P.S. I don't know if this is the right forum or not

I believe you would only get the discount while employed, if that is your question.

We took advantage of the discount before my husband left the company. The discount saved us $6,000 over what it would have cost without him working for disney.

But did you still get the discount after he left? B/c My mom and I were thinking of getting into it while my grandma still worked there and while I still got my discounts.

The price to buy in is a one time thing, I don't think there are discounts o annual dues and maitenance fees. Once you've bought in and are a deeded owner, I don't see how they could ask for more $$$ if you leave their employment.

correct. The purchase needs to be made while still a cast member, and you need to be a cast member when you close. We only got the discount percentage off of the price per point, but also got all other incentives that was going on, so sort of stacking discounts, which is unusal for Disney.

So did you finace and if so what are your monthly payments? I'm going to call the phone number also and ask these questions

The best advice is to call DVC & ask your questions directly to them. Frankly, I don't feel comfortabel putting my personal financial info in this forum.

If you are a CM, whether WDW or another division of TWDC, let the person you speak with know. If you are a relative of a CM, let then know also. They can give you the current interest rates and all the info you would need if you are thinking about making a purchase.

Good luck.

That's what I was going to do was call but I was just looking for an estimated price but I'll call

I think you get a 25% discount off the bottom price.

so first apply whatever the current discount is - then take your 25% off.

of course this could have changed - the girl I called too was years ago.....

There are a lot of variables that will effect your actual payments -- how much you put down, how long you finance, etc., etc. Best to call DVC to get the monthly breakout.

Not sure if anyone here would know but I'm curious whether this discount applies to other employees of Disney -- such as those who work for ABC, ESPN, etc.

The discount depends on what type of CM you are...salaried vs. hourly vs. employed by a company that is owned by Disney (for example, ABC). I know that ABC employees get 15% off the purhcase price as long as they are a current full-time employee. The discount continues for add-ons, etc. as long as you are an active employee. Once you are no longer an employee, you no longer get discounts. However, at that point, you are an owner, so you have already gotten the benefit of the discount.

Thus if you want a discount, you must buy while still an active employee. Also, call DVC and ask about the different discounts.

Do employees of the Disney Store qualify for the cast member discount? If so how long do you need to have been an employee for the discount to apply? Any idea what the discount would be for an add on? Thanks!

Well, they used to be considered CMs. Now that Disney no longer owns the Disney Store chain (owned by The Children's Place) I do not think the employees are considered CMs. Someone else may know for sure, though.

We made our initial purchase in 2004 while I was a Disney Store Mgr. & I received the CM discount.

TDS was sold to TCP (& I subsequently left TCP) so I became an ex-cm. Although I am still paying off my investment, the rate still holds. You sign a contract that is very specific & unless the contract has changed & now says otherwise, as long as someone on the deed is a CM at the time of closing you will have locked in a discounted rate.
