We just purchased 150 direct at Copper Creek. This is our first direct purchase. We have 200 points at BLT and 200 SSR.

What tips/tricks can you share? or what should I know tha might not be obvious.

We mainly purchased so we could buy a discounted annual pass and possibly stay at some of the newer resorts.

Thanks

Congrats!!

Get that DVC discount at the parks it saves so much money! 20%! (Food, shops)

The lounges in MK, Epcot and DL. They are great way to take a break while at the parks. Cool off and get a soda.

First of all, the annual pass is not discounted. It’s just the same Sorcerer normally available to Florida residents.

You get the same discounts percentage at WDW with the DVC or Annual. (DVC percentage discount bit different at DLR. Some magic keys get a better deal.

Enjoying the DVC lounges.

Opportunities for Moonlight Magic events.

Member cruises.

ah yes same savings as AP. I just get so excited since its 20% at WDW vs the 10% I always get at DLR (no MK)

There aren't really any secrets to it, you are aware of the main benefits because you know about restrictions on resale points and the ability to purchase the Sorcerer pass. Moonlight magic events are fun too if your travel dates ever coincide with one.

Most of the discounts we get are the same discounts that people with the free Disney Visa card get, so nothing to get excited about really.

Just one point that you are probably aware of but I mention it just in case. Make sure the wallet on the cell phone you will use at Disney is updated to show that you are now a "y" DVC member entitled to all membership extras.

Thanks. Not aware. How do switch it out or should I just call member services?

As noted above that should happen automatically, but that is true only if the new contracts are in the same membership as the prior ones. If your new contracts have a different use year than the prior ones, e.g., they start in June and your original use year started in Feb, then the new contracts will be under a new membership number, in which case, for the cell phone wallet, you will want to do that delete the old and add the new one to assure the one in the wallet is the one that shows you have access to membership extras.

The dvc discount at table service restaurants is actually better than ap in some restaurants. 15% vs 10%. I would ask the server which is better.

Yeah I usually say I have allllll the discounts use whatever is best 🤣. Although my AP discount will go away soon. Only have an AP due to DVC blue card so I do consider that a DVC blue card benefit even though it’s technically not.

Ive heard about people still being able to use ap discount even after expiration some kind of glitch, but since youre direct probably dont need it!

Comments suggesting that DVC 20% discount was meaningless because you could get the same with a free Disney Visa used to irk me. It was not the same. Visa came with a $50 minimum making it very tedious. I see they finally changed that part while dropping to only 10% discount. Probably because to stop the spurious comparisons 😅

They were 2 totally different experiences though. With DVC: Want to buy a $35 t-shirt? Here’s a $7 discount - no strings attached. Or even a bottle of water at the resort market - pay one dollar less. With Visa: Didn’t take long for me to despise needing to contemplate every purchase and if/when it was worth trying to hit $50 or not.

DVC discount has been mush less effort, much more useful.

The best part of Disney Visa for us ended up being the character meets at EP. Those have all been great! And they have continued to accept my expired card lol.
