Cast Member gossip and news!!!

Thanks Hydro guy and I totally understand where you are coming from but that is why I put gossip in the thread title so that people wouldn't take it as fact (if they didn't want to)
Like I said earlier one person says something grain of salt everyone says the same thing then I start to listen....and I teach high school.
I brought this up to bring up discussion about the "gossip" that I heard, I never wanted people to take anything as fact and that's why I can't understand where other's are coming from.
Thanks though hydroguy I appreciate your explanation

Regardless of what happens I hope they do not close Autotopia. I personally hate this ride but during our trip two weeks ago we met the most amazing Disney character.... or legend :p He has down syndrome and has been visiting Disneyland since 1961! Now he tries to get to Disneyland everyday unless it is raining or he has work. And He has chosen autopia had his closer for his nights and as of last week has ridden it 18,045 times! :scared1: Every CM in tomorrowland knows him and it really is amazing. He also rides soarin over California every night as his last DCA ride. I do digress on that little story but I thought you guys would enjoy(:

However, I would like to see some update or what-not to tomorrowland. My DBF would absolutely die if the PM came back in some form or another. He has never ridden on it, but has a very nostalgic heart(: I would personally love to see UP in some form but i guess that will never happen since it is PIXAR :sad2: Whatever they chose to do, they do what they are doing! :D .... for the most part :rotfl2:

I do hope they fix the WOC seating issue because as others have said the parents with the children on the shoulders is rude and inconsiderate. I understand they too want to see but that should not prevent me and my family from seeing either. I never thought I was short at 5'5 but man watching WOC reminds me of not being able to see what was on the kitchen counter :rotfl: This last time parents had their children stand on the railing to the staircase and the cement blocks. along with being a bother it wasn't very safe for their children.

Great story about the "disney character". Im not a fan of autopia either but it would be great if they could update it rather than get rid of it. Innoventions really needs to be upgraded or ditched for something better though. Last trip I felt like it was very poorly done and did not come close to meeting Disney expectations (or what I would expect a Disney attraction to be).

As for WOC I agree the seating needs to change. Stadium seating would be best for sure. I am hoping DD(3) will be able to hang long enough to see it in May when we go (she fell asleep before the show and slept through it last year) but I know I wont put her up on my shoulders. I will hold her in my arms so she is at my height however (that is if she wants me too).

It was my understanding with Autotopia that the higher ups want to try shortening the track as opposed to getting rid of the ride. I do not know if that means having 2 tracks instead of the four they have now or keeping four tracks but shortening the length of the ride. I am not sure how this would benefit anything in tomorrowland personally because the track interweaves on itself so it wouldn't give more room for anything else, see what I mean?

As for Innoventions it is my personal opinion that they do not advertise this enough or make it interactive enough for large amounts of people to enjoy. Here's what I mean, let's take the Animation Studios thing in DCA, there's no problem there. Here's why, Cruella DeVil or another character is usually standing right outside the Animation Studios AND there is a character inside the building (Crush techincally speaking)
If they were to have characters right outside Innoventions or even insdie Innoventions I think it would help.
Animation Studios has things that large amount of people can enjoy at one time for example Turtle Talk with Crush and Animation Academy. At Innoventions I feel like I am constantly waiting in line for one thing to the next. There are usually a fair amount of people inside Innoventions and only 3 video game consoles each with a different game, so if I want to play a specific game I have to wait in line yet again see what I mean.
And yes I realize that Innoventions has a lot of sponsors and that is primarily how it is run however I feel like I am being advertised to on a constant basis, especially with the xbox360. I don't have one and don't want one so I can't relate to a majority of the exhibits there.
Asimo is an ok production and caters to a large amount of people at one time but they need more of those not just one production PLUS once you have seen the Asimo production that's it done, nothing new, but with Turtle Talk with Crush and Animation Academy it is something new each time.
They need to change up Innoventions more often, when I was there the last few times they weren't doing the home floor show why not? That gets me interacted with Innoventions and the majority of the bottom floor. PLus, how long has this dream home thing been in Innoventions? I think it is time to move on...

Hopefully you see what I mean with my little compare and constrasting here.

Ooh, juicy gossip! Maybe the higher ups read my Tomorrowland thread after all! ;) All I ask for is a one week per year package at the GC villas if they use some of my ideas.

I think it's pretty obvious this is a gossip/rumor and people need to chill out. OP is trying to give us the inside track but he's not saying this is official.

I think they should replace autopia or at least the cars. I have fond memories of that ride as a kid but it's pretty annoying as a parent driving it for your kid. The car's ride fills that hole of an auto track. If you want to drive a vehical aren't there bumper cars in dca also? Plus luigi's wheels.. hmm come to think about it there is a lot of kid driving/parent helping stuff they can do.

I have a personal issue with MJ but as a kid I loved the ride and the flying furball thing.

Would LOVE another tower of terror type ride. A coaster or 2 would be awesome! Also something like the haunted mansion maybe some flash bang pizaz you know!

I have to say I have enjoyed them bringing EO back because right after MJ's death my 10 year old who really didn't know who he was before that REALLY got into his music etc and was SO happy to see the show. However like before I am sure it will get old and people will want something new. I am not really sure WHAT would be the best thing to replace it but I am sure they will think of something fun.

And I agree that while innovations is neat one or two times we have found no reason to return. We enjoyed going a couple times but other than a reason to play video games I personally saw no reason to go back.

As to the person that mentioned PM going through Matterhorn, I could be wrong but I don't remember it EVER going through. I know it went through Star Tours which used to be Inner Space, it went around where the old circlevision was which is now Buzz and it went through Space Mountain. But that was it other than the exterior areas over by Monorail. I know they may not ever bring it back but some "version" would be fun I think because it seems many people miss it. :)

And to the OP I have enjoyed reading your article as well and like Hyrdo I agree that I never took it as fact but rather speculation at what "might" be coming. I know that people like ski don't like this because they think that it may be confusing to people who want true facts but I enjoy speculating too. I am glad you posted this and I enjoy hearing about what "might" happen and speculating as well. :)

OH! Heck yea..sorry..got my mountains crossed. Space Mountain then..sheesh..Didn't the Skyway used to go through the Matterhorn? Showing my age here...:)

Yup it did!! And THAT I used to love. In fact the very first time we went there in 76 it was all wood timbers on the inside. I thought that was really weird but either it was that way from the beginning or they were redoing it not sure but it was before they had the abominable snowman. In fact I was telling my daughters I kind of miss the skyway cuz it was fun to go over the top and just see everything. :)

I think they could do a refurb and keep SM open. We love Autopia, but I would love if they changed it to electric vehicles. I can't imagine where they would shorten the track. They shortened Tomorrowland Speedway in WDW to make room for Toontown. There really isn't much real estate between Nemo and Autopia.

They need to bring back the peoplemover! The success of Disney is the variety of the attractions and nothing beats a fast loading, high capacity ride in the heat of the afternoon!

I wonder if they might put a 3d show with an Avatar theme? I bet there will be some 3D type attraction in Animal Kingdom in Avatar land (Pandora?).

Innovations needs a complete redo. There just isn't the space for a "Sum of all Thrills" like WDW.

Astro Orbiters needs to be placed high, like WDW. Nothing beats that view!

WOC...YES...bring the stadium seating like Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios! They can still sell packages for seating sections and advanced seating, just like F! at WDW. Plus have roaming vendors like F!. Good money maker for Disney and would easily make up the money from the construction.

As far as the Dads with their daughters on their shoulders...I'm sure they were doing that in response to others in front of them who were blocking their view. Unless you are at the rail, there is no guarantees of a perfect view.

I would like to chime in if I can on the gossip. First off I would like to say that the OP CM friend who said Buzz is based on the cartoon on TV is wrong. It says right on the building that it is either based on or inspired by, I can't remember which one because I don't have a pic, Disney's/Pixar's Toy Story 2. That was a movie so Pixar to me obviously is not confined to DCA. When it comes to the Autotpia, I hope they just give it a little TLC. Maybe electric cars, but I see nothing wrong with this attraction. I love EO so I am not sure I want that to leave but I was very disapointed they did not put the in theater lasers back in. I think the whole theater could be turned into a nice sit down resturant, if possible. When it comes to inoventions, no clue what to do here. I guess that is why I am not a imaginear.

Stadium seating like at DHS in the current location would disrupt views from the Little Mermaid ride. Further, anyone walking into Paradise Pier would be greeted with a spectacular view of....the back of the stadium - rather than a nice view of the PP rides and the lagoon as it is now. Sorry, this is not a good idea. :sad2:

Does something need to change with WOC viewing? For sure. But not by building a stadium.

They do need some kind of elevation I believe. If there were seats like fold-up seats that would really help everyone. But unless they want to put in permament seats there - which would be unsightly during the day and ruinthe experience of the park they have - they would have to put up some 4000 fold-up seats every show and then take them down after - every night. That just seems like too much work.

Now that the area is built hopefully they can come up with a solution. I agree with all posters who say that this is supposed to be Disney's speciality and they blew it. They got the show itself right. Then the blew the viewing area.

:wizard:

I see Disney coming up with a nice facade or even small shops under the stadium seating. It really won't block your view of PP, you usually enter from Bugsland or by the bridge. Only the side of Mermaid would be block from view on the other side.

I don't think of it as something 50ft high, but it probably would have to be to get a good capacity for each show.

I'm a critic of WOC though. I think they made a mistake making the viewing screen area so small. Imagine if they would have done a show where the areas in the back of paradise pier offered a good view. They could have made the show more like Illuminations, where there is viewing around most of the lake.

The fountains to me are the best aspect of the show anyway. I'm going to have to give the other side a try sometime.

Was that the ride with the little gondolas hanging from a track up to the mountain? I vividly remember gondolas from our first Disney trip when I was 3, but it's a very disjointed memory, I can't think of anything else that I remember about it aside from a blue gondola with a little roof hanging from the track with a mountain somewhere in the mix. Frustrating!

Since the viewing area extends all the way from the bridge to Ariel's Grotto over to the Golden Zephyr, I think the stadium you suggest - even it were 10 foot high in the back, would be much more obstructive than you think. Think of a 10 ft wall right now at the back of the WOC viewing area all the way across. No one from the Zephyr all the way to the AG bridge could see the lagoon.

Matt, thanks for the shots and the corrections. You are quite right on this.

This talk of WoC seating......why can't we stay seated on the ground?? Then seeing over peoples head wouldn't be as big an issue. They let people stay seated for Fantasmic?? I've never understood why this wasn't an option for this show!! :confused3

To the OP.....I totally understood that this was rumors & talk....it makes for a fun read & wondering out loud. If I want the facts & nothing but the facts....I'll go to Wikipedia :rotfl: (if that's only factual??) The boards to me is a place to ask questions, share experiences, fantasize about the possibilities & hear little tidbits of news and gossip. I can read a title and understand what I'm reading!! Also there are a few "credible" posters (the mods, Hydroguy, to name a few) that I would tend to take their opinions and information as extremely helpful and well thought out.....others who think they're in the know, aren't always.

More people fit in an area standing rather than sitting. With the limited viewing area it's a way to fit more people.

If you are ever in Paradise Park you will notice sitting only works for a view in the front level and on stairs. In the other tiers there are rails and bushes to look through, the things that give it a park atmosphere.

Well said! :thumbsup2

I would appreciate a sitting WOC, but I understand how that would require more space or less viewers.

I also don't mind a little gossip and speculation as long as it is presented as such, and I appreciate the variety of personalities, opinions, and experience amongst the DISers.
