Cast Member gossip and news!!!

Hi,
well I'm hope I am mistaking things and not being called a liar for sharing information that I have heard.
I called it rumor and gossip because it is exactly that and I think I explained why.
In terms of the tomorrowland overhaul. I heard it from every single cast member I am friends with and even one that I didn't even know (the gentlemen who was taking care of us in the Fantasmic seating reservation line), if I hear something from one person I take it with a grain of salt, hear it from two I start to listen, hear it from everyone, well there ya go

I thought I would share what I head and learned and then while after having a nice conversation I feel like a couple of people came in and...well..I'll just leave it at that. Next time I just won't say anything at all I guess if I"m going to be questioned or why are we questioning one thing and not the other (I didn't question anyone else's threads about what cast members say) I don't know if people don't believe cast members when it comes to other things or things they don't want to hear, but I called it gossip and rumors because these cast members aren't the powers that be.

Anyways on to some things
DisneyDreams
I agree that innoventions is some fun and I think you hit the nail on the head that people are too into going on the next ride that they don't want to "stop and smell the roses" as it were.
In terms of bringing back America SIngs and Carousel opf Progress I was stating my personal opnion of what they would do with the space should they get rid of innoventions. Ameriac SIngs and Carousel of Progress comnig back was something I mentioned with my CM friends and they did provide some insight that went into my personal opinion but please don't think that I said they were or weren't going to bring back something it was just my personal opnion. I don't think they would bring back America Aings not Carousel of Progress.

As for the Mad Tea Party, it wasn't in question, I spokle to one CM about Electronica ending and he said that it was ending APril 15th and replacing it with a generic DJ thing, I think he was stating more of his personal opinion, because after I heard about the Mad Tea Party thing I asked some other CM friends who confirmed it, so no it wasn't in question it was a misunderstanding on my part.

I argued the same thing about Finding Nemo and Buzz lightyear being in tomorrowland but I was told that buzz lightyear ride is based on the cartoon Buzz lgihtyear space rangers not toystory pixar movie, then what about finding nemo and went through the whole rig a ma role of it wasn't supposed to originally be Finding Nemo it was supposed to be journey to atlantis, but hey I think they should put Phineas and Ferb and Walle all in there I'm all for it but again pretty much they all said the same thing that they won't put in walle nor Phineas in tomorrowland, I personally think it's stupid because its limiting itself but that is my personal opnion.

I too would be extremely shocked if they closed down all of tomorrland for this refurb but it has been something discussed amongst those that work in tomorrowland as a "last resort" I heard the concern of traffic flow problems in tomorrowland a lot throughout the cast members one CM said that there was a complaint that someone filed with ADA about not being able to get her wheelchair through the traffic flow problem. This is the traffic flow problem on either rockets up through star tours and buzz. It is a problem already just think about the problem it is going to be with walls up.
Apparently they frequently have CM train on different rides for numerous reasons but the "tomorrowland cast and crew have all been trained and prepared to do other things if it deemed necessary" Notice I put that in quotes. This includes the cast of Jedi Academy training, ride operators, retail operators and counter service cooks and cashiers.

MY personal concern is what happens to the monorail and the train if they do that?

Hope that cleared up anything. I really don't understand what the big deal is I thought I was being nice by sharing things I heard and bringing it up for discussion.

That is how rumors are formed. That is why CMs are great sources of information, they spread rumors too.

It's happened before. Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, the entry of DCA.

"The Disney crew was tired of Tomorrowland. Most of its attractions were only there to sponsor companies such as Monsanto, and not even the 1959 expansion helped very much. Instead of having another expansion, the crew decided to start from scratch, and made the new Tomorrowland. Walt Disney died in December 1966, almost seven months before the new Tomorrowland would open. In 1967, the area was completely rebuilt with new attractions and scenery. " Wikipedia.

As I noted before TL is not receiving a major overhaul or multiple new attractions. FACT.

MY personal concern is what happens to the monorail and the train if they do that?

They tow the Monorail to a station.

Don't mark things as News that are not.

EXcuse me but I thought the NEWS that I heard was NEWS to me and might be NEWS to others and there is NO reason to be so rude!

and I am curious as to how you know something as FACT

Am I the ONLY one who hopes they keep Captain EO? I know it may not be very exciting for kids who have no idea who MJ is, but I don't remember "honey I shrunk the audience" being very packed, either.

I bet the People Mover, Autopia, Innoventions, and even Space Mountain will get an overhaul before replacing Captain EO. EO is like the Tiki room; if you took that away there would be riots... (Just like if they had turned Star Tours into an Episode I Pod Race lol...?)

Innovations cost Disney $0. The entire place is ran and paid for by it's sponsors - Microsoft, HP and Honda being the ones that pay for most of it. It's actually very profitable for Disney, because not only do the sponsors pay to run the pavilion, they pay rent.

Min, I think most folks are like me and took everything you said as speculation and something for fun discussion. I think forums like this serve multiple purposes. Some people do come here to get facts. This is where Ski is coming from. They want to know about hotels, restaurants, rides, hours, etc. Facts.

Forums like this are also about rumors. What is going on with Cars Land? Will Disney fix the WOC viewing area? Will People Mover ever come back? With DLR build a third park in the strawberry field? Will FP be going away, or be enforced more strictly at some point?

At least some of the conflict in recent weeks on this forum has, IMO, come from rumors vs. facts and different folks' expectations.

As I said, I think most people here are like me and took everything you said as fun speculation. Which is one of the reasons this forum is here.

I am glad you posted this. If nothing else it started a discussion. And it got people thinking about the future of DLR. And the past.

Sorry if you felt put down by some. I am not sure they were in fact putting you down, but even if they were I do not think they represent the majority.

The thing is, "theater type" rides like Eo and before that Honey I Shrunk the Audience only generate significant interest in the first year or so and then crowds go to almost zero. These rides have low repeat value. At least with the Tiki Room there are AA figures to keep things interesting. Even better is more modern tech approaches like Turtle Talk which is interactive and every show is different.

I think of all the theater rides at WDW (Epcot mostly) and attendance is always very small. I saw the China pavilion show last month. That would be me and 10-15 others.

Compare this to Soarin Over California. SOC is still a show, but the way they do it draws in huge crowds. If it was in a conventional theater like Eo it would be "yawn!" today.

In answer to your question, you may be the only person who cares if Disney keeps Eo. I have enjoyed Eo the last few trips. But it is far down the interest level compared to other things in the park.

Thanks so much for the gossip and rumors, Minuet888.

I too really really hope they put in stadium seating for WOC. I can't believe how badly they blew it on the viewing area! Especially considering that it's a very recent addition, and they have so much experience accommodating people.

I too would love love love it if People Mover came back. But I thought I had read that there were some major problems with it that would require structural changes to the buildings that it goes through; and that it was just too expensive to do so. But I don't recall the details. Anyone remember reading that? Perhaps the problems are with the Innoventions building itself. So if they're thinking of revamping or removing that, perhaps it's feasible after all? If so, YAY. Innoventions is a total waste of space, as far as I'm concerned. I liked Carousel of Progress, way back when it was at DL. But Innoventions? Bleh. Tear it down, put in a real E-ticket ride, and run PeopleMover through it, I say.

-Bob

I remember that somewhere..about how now the regulations wouldn't allow it to happen and specifically something about the clearance going through the Matterhorn being a big issue. I did love the PeopleMover and wish it could come back..but super doubtful. This was brought up a fair amount at an Expo..or was it Destination D? Anyway..it seemed pretty sure from the answers that this couldn't/wouldn't be coming back :(

I agree...enjoy reading about rumors and speculating on what it all means :)I have been in Innoventions and still felt it was just just a colossal waste of space trying mainly to sell me stuff. I did the whole dream house thing and emailed it to me and never got it. Asimo wasn't there the day I was..I just think that whole area could be better used..I loved the old Carousel of Progress..but don't think it should really come back to fill that space. Something new would be nice...WOC..heck yea do something with it, but you know that if they did the seating section it would most likely be for those who paid extra for the WOC dinners. I've gotten to be a big WOC fan but still prefer..slightly... Fantasmic!

Not sure if it goes in Tomorrowland, but I would love to see Mickeys Philharmonic at DL. My family loved it when we saw it at WDW...just wondering if they could substitute that for Capt EO?

I would totally go for Philharmagic in place of Eo! Except we are talking about Tomorrowland here, folks.:scratchin

There were credible rumors a couple years ago that Philharmagic was coming to DCA to replace the Muppets. But in the end there was something structural with the Muppets building that was problematic to turn it into Philharmagic so the idea got shelved.

I will say though that Philharmagic is the only theater-type attraction I can think of that typically packs out. Nothing like the stragglers than come by to see Eo and the Epcot shows.

Interesting post.

I also like DL Autopia. The WDW version is the one I dislike. And I had read that it was WDW that was getting a "new" Tomorrowland, not DL. (they should certainly make WDW's Space Mt. more like DL's!!)

I would also love to see them figure something out for the World of Color viewing. There are few spots that allow a complete view of the show, I mean including the low globe things. And the "kids on shoulders" thing is at it's worst at WoC, much worse than at the parades for example.

I would also like to see more Disney hotel rooms at DL, DVC or just regular rooms......

I really enjoy Captain EO too and would miss it if it left. So you're not the ONLY one. :flower3:

What I would like to see Disney do is rotate shows in and out of the theater. With ElecTRONica, they have no problem playing two different shows in the same 3D theater in the same day. Why not do one show in the morning and another at night? Or rotate several shows throughout the day? Or have maybe 4 shows that they rotate in seasonally? (As someone who "only" gets to visit about once a year, seasonal would be my last choice, as I might not be able to see all the shows if they only played for a few months a year. But with such a large number of annual passholders, putting in different shows seasonally--even if they came back every year--would almost certainly keep the theater much busier year-round.)

Rotating films in might even allow them to show Philharmagic there. No, it's not futuristic, but if there were several different films showing, it would feel more like a real movie theater...and Tomorrowland is arguably the only place in Disneyland where a movie theater is in theme.

People won't necessarily see Captain EO (or any other film) if they know they can see it anytime. But if it only played for a couple months a year, people who have only a passing interest would see it again. Or if it only played at night, then everyone who wanted to see that film that day would be compressed into a smaller timeframe, leading to increased attendance. (I love me a midnight showing of Captain EO. :) )

I have to say I have enjoyed them bringing EO back because right after MJ's death my 10 year old who really didn't know who he was before that REALLY got into his music etc and was SO happy to see the show. However like before I am sure it will get old and people will want something new. I am not really sure WHAT would be the best thing to replace it but I am sure they will think of something fun.

And I agree that while innovations is neat one or two times we have found no reason to return. We enjoyed going a couple times but other than a reason to play video games I personally saw no reason to go back.

As to the person that mentioned PM going through Matterhorn, I could be wrong but I don't remember it EVER going through. I know it went through Star Tours which used to be Inner Space, it went around where the old circlevision was which is now Buzz and it went through Space Mountain. But that was it other than the exterior areas over by Monorail. I know they may not ever bring it back but some "version" would be fun I think because it seems many people miss it. :)

And to the OP I have enjoyed reading your article as well and like Hyrdo I agree that I never took it as fact but rather speculation at what "might" be coming. I know that people like ski don't like this because they think that it may be confusing to people who want true facts but I enjoy speculating too. I am glad you posted this and I enjoy hearing about what "might" happen and speculating as well. :)

Don't worry, that's why I quit making posts on this site. Rudeness. You were nice enough to just share what you hear and people get rude about it like middle schoolers. They'll grow up one day...Oh wait, I think they lost that chance.

Wherever they have to put it, I am on board with the idea of Philharmagic in DL! :thumbsup2

Thanks Hydro guy and I totally understand where you are coming from but that is why I put gossip in the thread title so that people wouldn't take it as fact (if they didn't want to)
Like I said earlier one person says something grain of salt everyone says the same thing then I start to listen....and I teach high school.
I brought this up to bring up discussion about the "gossip" that I heard, I never wanted people to take anything as fact and that's why I can't understand where other's are coming from.
Thanks though hydroguy I appreciate your explanation

Kristin, you of course need to find your own tolerance level with posting but I would say, on the whole, that this forum is amazingly polite. Especially compared to say the WDW forum and some other Disney forums that can be like death match flame wars. Flame wars rarely happen here.

I am glad you posted and hope over time you feel safer to post more!
