Casey's Buns

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Heavens to Betsy!

Say it ain't so !!!

They cannot mess with Casey's. THis thread is making me want to cry. (but then ya'll say something funny and it makes me giggle) WHEAT BUNS?!?!?! THe wrongness of that has already been stated by everyone before me. I'll just say thanks to tmarquez for the glimmer of hope, and I will be anxiously awaiting the update from Pumbaa. We're going in 2 wks and this is vital information. We love Casey's and eat there every time.

In fairness, many said wheat is fine. They just feel a choice is more fair to everyone. A few others (including myself) said we prefer wheat, but we're sympathetic to the fact that others do not like wheat.

I hope if they switch back to white they give us a choice of both white and wheat. However, if they don't it won't be the end of the world for me.

I saw a restaurant review with photos from JAN 5th and the buns were white. So I think it may have been a bun shortage causing the Wheat Disaster of Christmas '07.

Where is this Casey's anyway? I don't think I've ever seen it at the park. Is it in MK?

Just to clarify; I'm happy for there to be a choice. Choice of white or wheat is good with me. I'm all for that.:thumbsup2

I just got back from disney last week and every bun I got at every CS place was a wheat bun, adult and kids meals alike, im not much for wheat buns but I really couldnt taste the differents, if I couldnt see that they were wheat I wouldnt have known. personally the last thing im going to complain about while at disney is wheat over white.

For me it wasn't just the wheat bun falling apart but the smaller hot dog and the fact that the hot dog did not taste like any hot dog I've ever eaten at Caseys which was our fav CS in the MK the hot dog tasted like a very cheap greasy hot dog I don't think it would have been possible to put enough toppings on the hot dog to kill the taste.

We were there on 1/12/08 and DH got a white bun with his Casey's dog.

He would have noticed if it was wheat or falling apart.

I am a little shocked by this. I can't imagine it has been a popular choice. I am the kind of person who will let the bun determine if I get something. I don't mind wheat on sandwiches with cold cuts, but not so much with burgers and hot dogs. I will probably try the wheat, but I am a little upset about this.

This is sort of like putting lettuce on ice cream. I think disney would be better off offering turkey hogs, or chicken sausages. Hot dogs are nasty, and comprised mostly of fat. This is something I accept, which is why I eat them only at ball games and on vacation. Wheat buns isn't solving the problem with hot dogs or hamburgers, it is just making them taste a little off.

We had wheat buns last Monday. And it did fall apart before we finished.

My question is why can't you just get a hotdog at Casey's without fries and a drink? I went in to get a bite while DH & DS held a place for Spectro, and I really didn't want to carry the fries and drinks. Sometimes you just want a hotdog to walk with and not carry the other stuff.:confused3

You should be able to. It won't be printed on the menu just ask for a hot dog ala carte. I did this a bunch of times when my DD was under 10 and would not eat the stuff on the kids menu. I have done it at Casey's (though the combo meal at Casey's is relatively new), Back Lot Express, water parks and few other locations. We were on DDP in December 2005 and she hated the kids meal choices so I paid OOP for an entree itema nd saved her CS for her breakfast which she did like!

We always get only the hot dog at Casey's. Don't need the soda & don't care for their fries. We've found you can order only the sandwich at any CS places & the subtract about $1.80 from the "combo" price.

I was there last week, and on Wednesday 1/16 and Friday 1/18 I had white with my smaller, but still good, hotdogs. Maybe it's luck of the draw?

The last times I went to Caseys (late last year), the bun wasn't even the same length as the hot dog - it was probably nearly an inch longer.

As far as a wheat bun - just because something is called wheat doesn't even make it healthier. A lot of bread at the stores will say "wheat" on the package, but it's more like - wheat flavored bread, nothing in it that is healthier than white. (i.e. - not whole wheat).

For those that have had the wheat bun, is it a brown wheat, like most whole wheat breads, or is it a 'white' wheat, which is just whole grains in the white looking bun?

It took 2 weeks for WDW to respond to my e-mail about the bun situation, but at least they responded. They simply stated they needed my phone number to handle the inquiry better. :confused3 All I asked was if they were ever going to have white buns again. Anyway, I gave the number, but I live in Italy, so I doubt they will call. I wonder if they just wanted my phone number just to have it and then e-mail the answers. Whatever they decide, at least they responded, which is more than I expected in the first place.

Has anyone been lately with an update?

I sent my email a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for a response. I included my phone number, so if I hear anything I'll post it.

I just got an email yesterday, thanking me for contacting them. It also contained a name and phone # for me to call to discuss further. I'm curious about what will happen when I call this person. I'll let you know!
