I think it's great they're offering healthier items in WDW but 1. if you're getting a hot dog, you're not that worried about it being a healthy meal
I agree, and I disagree with this statement. I believe that unhealthy choices, like a hot dog, can be made better for you when balanced with a healthier option like a wheat bun. Just like I look at a Big Mac Value Meal. I know that some laugh at me for getting it with a diet Coke or water to 'save' on calories. The number of calories in a Big Mac Value Meal with Regular Coke is 1,320. With a Diet Coke that meal is now 1,110. Does this make it health food - NO!! Does this decrease the calories of this meal by 16% - sure does! Less aerobics for me to work off the meal? You bet! Could I have made a better meal choice overall - you bet!
Prior to exercising more, I justified a lot of my unhealthy holiday eating with figuring how much I walk at Disney (honestly believing that I was burning many of these calories)Then I found out that I am burning more like 75-90 calories per
solid hour of walking. Guess I need to still work out on vacation.
Do I think that health needs to be forced on everyone at Disney? I don't. I'd love to see an option. However, if they can't offer an option - then a white bun with wheat grains in it (which sounds like what this 'wheat' bun is) would be my preference. To me it's a compromise, it's white in taste and appearance, but has the healthier whole grains in it. Some people coming back are saying that they're white because they can't tell the difference between a white bun and this modified wheat bun.
I guess I just believe that healthy eating is all about moderation. There is a middle ground to me between fun and good for me. This, to me, is a nice way of bringing healthy in and still letting me indulge in a hot dog.
