I think Baez is putting stop payments on his expert witnesses' checks. ::yes::

does anyone know why Linda Kenney Baden quit the defense team? I'm watching her on HLN and she's defending KC 100%. Doing her best to shoot down the states case. Why did she leave? Was it a money thing?

George's ex wife said that George was an ok guy, but does lie ALOT.

I don't know about you guys, but the fact that she's the EX WIFE makes me doubt her credibility.
Just saw that on Vinnie Politan's show, and Linda Kenny Baden is foaming at the mouth in support of this ex-wife. And she's comparing the lying accusations of George by the ex-wife vs Casey's constant daily lying about her missing daughter.

I totally agreed with Judge Alex's answer. Regardless if George cheated on Cindy, that has NOTHING to do with Casey's actions. The defense still hasn't proved that George is involved. Its all speculation.

I thought I heard, she had something to do with writing Bozo's opening statements.......so maybe she is a 'cling on'

Casey Anthony attorney Linda Kenney Baden leaves defense team

October 22, 2010|By Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel

Long-time Casey Anthony defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden has left the defense team citing financial limitations in continuing to represent her.

Kenney Baden's motion to withdraw as counsel in the high-profile case was filed in court this afternoon.

The New York City based attorney cited financial reasons for her departure and state rules surrounding Casey Anthony being declared indigent for costs in the murder case.

She noted that the defense team must comply with Justice Administration Commission rules in this case.

"As out of state counsel I have been traveling to Florida and elsewhere to properly represent Ms. Anthony," she wrote in her motion. But, she added, it is her "understanding that the JAC prohibits payment of such costs to out of state attorneys even though they have rendered and are rendering their services free of charge."

Kenney Baden goes on to say she cannot continue representing Casey Anthony "in the absence of substantial funds to cover the costs of travel and reimbursement for expenses, which she anticipates will increase as trial approaches…"

She added that like Andrea Lyon, who also withdrew from the case as an out of state counsel earlier this year, she has worked hundreds of hours on the case.

"I believe in the client's innocence to the charges and do not wish personally or professionally to withdraw from this case," she wrote. "Nonetheless, because the state of Florida fails to reimburse out of state pro bono attorneys for expenses, I am forced to make this application…"

She says she cannot represent Casey Anthony "from afar without the necessary interactions and appearances in Florida."

Casey Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie. Her trial is expected to start in May. She faces a possible death sentence if convicted.

this is what the George's "mistress" said about what happened to Caylee. She has been subpoenaed.

reporter: "What did George tell you about that?"

Holloway: "that it was an accident that spiraled out of control"

Just as a matter of interest -- do any of you watching the trial believe that:

1. Casey Anthony is innocent of any or all or the murder/aggravated child abuse/manslaughter charges? (I guess the Defense has already admitted in the Opening Statement that she is guilty of the 4 counts of lying to Law Enforcement.)

2. Do you believe that the Defense has been able to get even one of the jury to have "reasonable doubt" with the evidence provided by any of the witnesses (state or defense) so far?

I haven't watched all the trial, but the defense seems really appalling to me. I'm hoping there will not be a mistrial just because of that. The Judge is great though!

I'll answer part 2. And it has nothing to do with the defence

I don't think the state has proven murder 1. So I think she wont be convicted of that or given the death penalty

The defence had only a hand full of " hits " but then they got slammed on cross or redirect

THANKS!:thumbsup2
I see she chooses to make her money by going on every news show discussing the case on a daily basis.

I think there was less circumstantial evidence proving that Scott Peterson killed his wife and unborn son Connor, and he got death, so yeah, I think its a strong possibility that she could get murder 1 and death.

Exactly. Nothing about being involved with it. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say on the stand. I don't think she's at all credible, based on what I've seen and heard. I wonder how she'll come off to the jury, esp after Ashton or Burdick gets a hold of her.

Apparently, her 84 page statement is all over the place.

Guess she couldn't get them to hire her husband as an expert witness. Oh wait...he got $250,000 for the Phil Spector trial; I don't think the state of Florida can pay that much. Bummer.

Wow, an inmate who was with Casey Anthony had had a child who drowned, found by the child's grandfather (who called 911), but the child died. Weird story...didn't catch it all. Have to rewind during a commercial.

If there was ever any doubt, this should erase it all. She's a psychopath.

so now it appears that the defense plans to call George's mistress to the stand, apparentely she admits that George told her that he was involved in the accident that spiraled out of control.

Here's a post I did late last night about this. If you didn't get a chance to read it, be sure and read the second part about these "twin" sisters (uh, one born in 1970, one in 1971) ;)

Local (Orlando) news at 11:00 headline:

George Anthony's Mistress Speaks Out About Caylee's Death

Holloway Says Anthony Told Her Toddler's Death Was Accidental

A woman who said she had an affair with George Anthony after growing close to him during the search for his missing granddaughter has been subpoenaed to testify in his daughter’s murder trial.
Krystal Holloway received a subpoena to testify for the defense at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
In an interview with Local 6 reporter Tony Pipitone, Holloway said she is upset the defense used her as a "scapegoat” in its opening statements.
“They became close. The started dating. They had an affair, whatever you want to call it,” lead defense attorney Jose Baez said about Holloway in his opening statements.
Holloway told Pipitone it is fair to say she had an intimate affair with George Anthony after helping in the search for Caylee.
When first asked by investigators about the affair, Holloway denied it, but now she says she is prepared to tell the truth in court.
Holloway said she does not believe Baez’s accusation that George Anthony pulled Caylee’s body from the family pool on June 16, 2008, 31 days before Caylee was reported missing and the search for the 2-year-old began.
If called, Holloway said she will testify that George Anthony told her in November 2008 that Caylee died by accident.
Caylee’s remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home in December 2008.
Holloway said George Anthony told her Caylee’s death was an accident that snowballed out of control.
Typically, testifying about what someone told you is hearsay and not admissible, but Local 6 legal analyst Mark O’Mara said Holloway’s testimony would be allowed.
O’Mara said Holloway’s testimony could be used to impeach previous testimony by George Anthony that he knew nothing about Caylee drowning.
Holloway said she also does not believe the defense’s claim that George Anthony sexually abused his daughter, Casey Anthony, for years when she was a child.
Holloway said she knows it was wrong to grow so close to a married man, but she is strong enough to own up to it under oath.
Casey Anthony, 25, is on trial, charged with first-degree murder in Caylee's death. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.

The report ended so strangely to me - they said this was the same story that she told the National Enquirer, and she said she didn't get paid for that (uh, yeah right) and then kind of backtracked and said well, she didn't know if he said that's what might have happened or not.

FYI Here's some more background on this person from 2010:

There is more information being learned about the backgrounds of the two sisters who have spoken to the tabloid media to claim one had an affair with George Anthony, the father of Casey Anthony, who is charged in the killing of her daughter Caylee.

The two have been using the names River and Skye, and they have talked to the likes of the National Enquirer. They are twins who also have been arrested a number of times.
Cecelia Holloway is also known by another name to publicize her sister's supposed affair with George Anthony: Skye Benhaida. She claims to be the sister of River Cruz, who is also known as Cecelia's 38-year-old twin sister Krystal Holloway.
Cecelia Holloway went on national television on the "Nancy Grace" program to support her sister's story, detailed in the Enquirer on Wednesday, of an affair that the two are claiming Krystal had with George Anthony while his grand-daughter Caylee Anthony was missing. The girl was later found dead.
George Anthony denies an affair, his attorney Brad Conway said.
Cecelia hasn't always been so supportive of Krystal's stories. In a June 2009 letter to a judge handling a domestic battery case against her husband, Cecelia wrote that Krystal lied to police about the incident.
"My sister…(Krystal) … called the police and told them he beat me up," Cecelia wrote. But Cecelia went on to argue that was a lie.
"My sister does not like my husband, there for (sic) I believe is why she had him arrested," Cecelia wrote.
Local 6 also found that Cecelia was in jail from August 2008 to January 2009, the time the two sisters claim the affair was supposedly blossoming.
Local 6 shared that finding on Wednesday with George Anthony's attorney, who had done some investigating of his own.
"It says they are questionable people," Brad Conway said.
The two women also made a joint appearance in another crime report in February 2008 after more than $1,000 in jewelry was stolen from an apartment neighbor of the twins.
The thief who brought jewelry to a pawn shop presented a driver's license with Krystal Holloway's picture on it, but left behind a thumb print on the pawn slip that belonged to Cecelia Holloway, so she's the one who got five months in jail.
In fact, on the day Casey Anthony was being escorted out of jail on Aug. 21, 2008, Cecelia Holloway was being booked there for violating probation on another conviction in Seminole County for dealing in stolen jewelry.
Court records state that both sisters have prior arrest records for attempted burglary of a structure and thefts.

Oh yeah, let Holloway testify. Ashton and LDB will rip her apart!!!!!
The NE didn't pay her. That is the BIGGEST lie!

When she comes on, we just hit the mute. ;)
:thumbsup2 There's probably mass muting around the country when LKB starts barking on TV.

And Baez read about that woman and her "twin" and said "Awesome! We have a great new witness!" He likes to talk about "in Casey's World", but what thoughts lurk "in Baez's world"?
