Casey Anthony TRIAL thread #2

Baez represents his client. The only thing he cannot do is knowingly lie. But if his client insists something is the truth and it can help, he can use it and not technically be the one lying. He is her voice. Now if he decided to help her fabricate a story...that would be illegal, I think.

That's how I understand it as well.

I work as a forensic RN in a state facility where we perform forensic evaluations on criminals to establish competency to stand trial. I have been watching this trial with baited breath!
In my opinion, she should have pleaded insanity! I haven't decided whether I think she is insane or just pure evil. I am leaning toward the later! The web of lies she has spun, and the fact that her defense team admitted this is baffling to me. However, I have not seen the prosecution establish premeditation as of yet.
I wanted to add that I loved reading this thread, and hearing everyone's view points.
Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

It seems we haven't. While the idea of premeditation is helpful, it isn't required. They have shown (IMO), that she benefitted from Caylee's absence.

I don't think Casey told Baez the accident story and the abuse story. I think it was suggested:

JB: Could Caylee have drowned and an explanation for your life of lying is due to being abused?
ICA: Sure.

Casey Jordan is predicting they are bringing in Robyn Adams for tomorrow, since it is always an ordeal to get an inmate in. THAT could be interesting.

I lost the link to the letters, could someone post it again. And I have a question, the envelopes shown in that link are to and from robin and tracy?, Not written by casey. I'm confused
Thanks,terri

Robyn didn't want to get in trouble for writing with Casey so she sent the letters to her friend Tracy on the outside.

Once she found out Caseys incarceration was a big deal she was torn between being her friend and worried there may be something in the letters that could help the police so she asked her dad and her friend to read over them and help her decide if they needed to go to the cops with them.

Someone asked what Robyn was in for and it's drug dealing

Sometimes I read the darndest things on this board......Its actually amusing if it weren't so ridiculous....
It's quite hilarious at times! :lmao: Ever see a really long thread about some seemingly benign topic, go to the last page and see that indeed, it did go wrong somewhere along the way, and then try to find just what happened, because it's so ridiculous? No? :lmao: I do. Sometimes.

One of the talking head lawyers (maybe on one of the local stations, I can't remember) said that just because the prosecution's case appears to be ending a little earlier than what was originally thought, that it doesn't mean that they don't have additional witnesses that they will bring up during the rebuttal phase.

I think JB maneuvered Casey into telling him lies that would fit a defense. I don't think he's saying anything in court that he didn't GET her to say, so HE'S not lying...his client technically told him that. But I don't think even he believes it.

The defense couldn't deny that Casey lied like crazy, so they had to run with it and use it. Then they needed to explain why someone was that nuts...THAT much of a liar. Hence, throwing George under the bus, based on Casey's vague memories of "something" when she was a kid. Piss me off!

Baez represents his client. The only thing he cannot do is knowingly lie. But if his client insists something is the truth and it can help, he can use it and not technically be the one lying. He is her voice. Now if he decided to help her fabricate a story...that would be illegal, I think.

Thanks, MaryAnn, Lisa and joviroxx! :thumbsup2

So here is another thought … if JB were to believe his client (and speak for her and state that about the molestation in his opening remarks) … don't you think he might have said to CA, 'but the jailhouse phone calls have you telling your Dad how great a father and grandfather he is; how are we going to explain that to the jury if we run with your father molesting you' …. ???

Oooooo...that would be VERY interesting. (And I love Casey Jordan!) But you know what the defense will say...can't trust an inmate. :lmao: And how is she benefiting from her testimony...out of prison early? Those letters from Casey...Robyn sent them to someone for safe-keeping and asked this person (?) if he/she thought they'd be worth something someday. JB could have a field day with that.

Yep Robyn did say she wondering if they'd be worth anything...but the something she was hoping for was time off her sentence so she could get home to her kids! LOL! So maybe Baez doesn't really want to ask her that question!

I didn't know that. Thanks.

All part of the lying and covering up and living the life she wished she had. Despite it all, loving her father? Who knows. It's all so crazy.

But Baez could definitely use that to discredit her.

I do to! LOL... and for the record, your DS sounds like a good kid!

I do that! I wonder "Why is this thread still going?" so I pop to the last page to see what's up. Sometimes I go "Oh, that's why! :rotfl:" and sometimes I'm left scratching my head and going back a few pages.....

It's a puzzle! ;)

This is the problem I have with most of the state's witnesses that aren't medical experts. All of Casey's friends and adequateness have testified that she seemed to be a wonderful, fantastic mom that loved her daughter dearly. I know they are trying to bolster their case by telling us Casey was partying and having fun while her daughter was dead but it doesn't help when everyone testifies that she was a great mother. I hope the state ties in a legitimate reason that Casey would go from "great mother" to murderer.

Yes, but did this wonderful fantastic mother call 911 when her daughter 'accidentally drowned'? No, she never did. She, or she let George (yeah, right) duct tape her, bag her up and dump her in the woods.

Not a good mother, and I think it's pretty clear that even if her friends thought she took care of Caylee, she really didn't. Cindy and George did and those kids probably didn't know enough to really see beyond what Casey told them and the little time they spent with the 2 of them.

Well with the thought of it wrapping up so soon, I really wonder what the defenses witness list was really like. Would there really be anyone that would be credible for her defense. :rolleyes1. Now what do I do? On vacation in Vegas and trial doesnt resume til 1 tomorrow, and that is when everyone returns from playing golf. I am into this trial like they are into playing that game. Geez decisions.

Thanks for answering my question Irish, now I just have to go find the link. or maybe it's in my history.

Umm, MaryAnn, all I can say is WOW … that is all … WOW … :headache:

What is wrong with some people …………...

I read through those letters, I did not see the part about her drugging her daughter. Has anyone found that part and can they point it out?
