Casey Anthony TRIAL thread #2

I can't imagine that it would help the defense to put Casey on the stand even if they/she wanted to. I don't see how the jury could believe anything she might say. She'd probably have a whole new tale to tell......again.

Prosecution is expected to rest tomorrow or wed. Wow.

Defense to start wed or thurs.....

Oh crap...they might be deliberating on the 25th or 27th? DS has a Dr appt on the 27th! Can't be changed. Oh dear. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH MAKING APPTS A YEAR AHEAD OF TIME!!!

The defense would bank on innocent until proven guilty--hence Jose stated they could not prove the actual abuse. So if they put her on the stand, they naively expect the jury to believe her accusations. I wonder if prosecution has an attorney gifted in questioning a witness who lies. Wonder if they can get the Lie to Me guy to help :).

But what defense is hoping to gain is reasonable doubt and nothing more. They just need the jury to believe it is possible.

Unfortunate for them is that past abuse is often a defense for murder. Casey will not admit to murder of course. But just because she may have been abused, doesn't mean that the drowning theory is possible. Especially since her parents did not use chlorine in the pool making the possibility of chloroform readings being caused by the Anthony's pool water impossible (if I am understanding earlier discussions about that correctly).

I know! Can they do that? Just stop the trial and say they don't have a witness until tomorrow afternoon?

We leave Friday for Orlando... I wonder how long defense will take, I don't want to be down there if a verdict is handed down before the end of the month....

Well, poop! I had taken today and tomorrow as vacation days and hoped to actually watch some of this trial since I really can't do it at work. Now they've recessed for the today and won't start back until tomorrow afternoon.

Welcome. :)

Casey didn't have an apartment. She lived with her parents.

Thank you!

I thought she got kicked out at one point?

How would Cindy have not called the police sooner after not seeing her granddaughter for more than a week?

:thumbsup2

Welcome aboard! I have to tell you when this all first happened back in 2008, I was along the same lines as you are. It was just so hard to believe otherwise. After following this for 3 years and this trial, I no longer believe this.

Whether on purpose or not, Casey was not nurturing her daughter but found Caylee an impediment to her life. I do not doubt that she did not feel a thing but nerves when Caylee died and that it was a direct result of her own actions, by herself. I also do not believe anyone helped her. She is a sociopath .

Thank you!

As much as I don't want to admit it, I think you are right. What we are seeing is likely her own sorrow about what will happen to her and not Caylee.

I can do the 27th.... But we won't see much if they are deliberating? Or is that potentially closing arguments? I gotta be able to see that!!!
Is there anyplace that you can access the day's court (as in taped?)

Wow---that seems fast. Aren't we only in week 4?

Defense's time seems extremely short in comparison and quite possibly rests in their alternate theory that has ZERO witnesses. Then the Kronk issue.

Darn, we come back on the 27th, I might miss the verdict...

We leave Wed for Orlando and will fly back on the 25th. I'm gonna have to play catch up on the defense but hopefully should be back home by deliberations. Wonder how long the jury is gonna take to decide?

We're going for the same amount of time...

They say the longer they take the better it is for the defense... does anyone recall how long they took on the OJ trial?

According to a commentator on InSession, happens all the time. I guess witnesses have lives too (:confused3:laughing:) and they couldn't get them there before tomorrow. When you think about it, if they have them come "early", it's costing the state, and it's costing the person with time out of work if they're just sitting out in the hallway. Do we know who the witnesses are and why they won't be there until tomorrow?
Thank you!

Once Caylee was dead (on June 16), Casey stayed at friends' apartments, and she had all sorts of explanations for Cindy about where she and Caylee were...Jacksonville and Tampa (I think), at a hospital when the fake Zanny the Nanny got into a fake accident, and on and on. Always a reason why Cindy couldn't speak with Caylee (she's sleeping, for one).

I'm sure that they'll be analyzing the heck out of this case during deliberations. The thing with deliberations is that they can take an hour, or they can take much MUCH longer.

Four hours.

I would expect if they come back fairly quickly with this case, it's "guilty". Longer? There's that doubt. Ugh.
