Casey Anthony TRIAL thread #2

JP asking if both defense and prosecution have various theories to the duct tape---Answer to which would be yes

Baez saying it prejudices
State says its an expert witness and he says caylee did have duct tape around her face and that its admissable for that purpose

JP saying the court can rule on the motion up until the verdict is read
so at this time it is denied
he will reserve ruling

Motion denied at this time, but everything else he said about motions for mistrial kind of scares me. Can you imagine if this was a mistrial?? Or a hung jury? I don't think I can do this again!

OK - they are showing some recaps of Casey. They just showed where the one guy said that her bones were chewed on by animals. You see Casey's shoulders shaking (as if she is sobbing), her hand is at her mouth, and her face "crunched" but there are no tears. I'd expect tears to be streaming down her face.

They just showed the original photo that they used to make the skull superimposition video (but not the whole video). OMG - the photo of her smiley little face was so adorable!!! How could anyone do that to her!?

The guy on HLN said that the duct tape, when superimposed, showed that it covered her mouth and the bottom of her nose at the same time.

The duct tape is the murder weapon.

Just back from our band trip to WDW!! I was glad I subscribed to cfnew13 for texts updates. They updated when ever a witness got on or left the stand, as well dismissing of jury, mistrial mentions and Casey abruptly leaving the court room yesterday. I am going to do a lot of reading tonight and try to find some links to watch. What would be the best stuff to search for since Tuesday?

Bear with me here. If (and that is one HUGE if in my book) the duct tape was on the bag (as opposed to Caylee's mouth, which is where I firmly believe it was), wouldn't there be residue of the duct tape on the top of the bag? Has anyone (defense/prosecution) talked or asked about that?

Personally I think these forensics guys know what they are doing and if there had been duct tape residue on the bag they would have said to themselves, "Hey there's duct tape residue here. This must be where it came from." And they would have admitted such in court.

Totally insignificant qustion, I know, but I'm curious...

Anyone know where Casey (or anyone in jail and on trial) gets all the clothes she wears to court? She seems to have a pretty extensive wardrobe considering she seems to have something different on every day. Do you think they're things her parents brought in for her and they let her change into them each morning before court? :confused3 Or are the lawyers somewhat concerned with making her look "normal" and presentable?

Personally, I think she should be in a jail orange jumpsuit!

I do know her mother purchased clothes for her during the hearings. She's probably not doing that now. Casey has had a ton of donations to her prison account for snacks etc. from strangers. Maybe she has a benefactor who donates or supplies money for clothing also. Or maybe Amy left her checkbook around and Casey is using it at Target again. ;)

HLN people are saying they are shocked that the judge let the duct tape video into evidence.
I liked the judge's explanation tho about why it wasn't a reason for mistrial. The duct tape is a big part of this case, esp where it was placed on Caylee. Duct tape shown on a skull doesn't give a good picture of the size of the duct tape placed over her actual face, with skin and tissue...that it was indeed large enough to cover her nose/mouth. They needed to superimpose her face on the skull to get a good picture of the size of a skull and the size of her face, both in relation to the size of the duct tape. AND, as the judge pointed out, the video did show the tape moving, so technically it showed different scenarios, not just the prosecutors' version.

Now, where I think they might have a problem is th morphing, and the fact that Casey was in the picture. She was, wasn't she? Or was it originally a picture with her, and they took Casey out? Because showing her...the murderous mother...alongside the child she murdered, and having Caylee's face morph into the skeleton...I can definitely see where that may have been put out there for the emotional drama. There would be no need to have Casey in it. Anyone know??

Since Tuesday? Oh dear. :confused3 I think WFTV has daily summaries.

No heart shape sticker physical evidence. You can search the thread for more info, unless someone else wants to go into it again!

Do you (or anyone) know if and when they will bring the bottle with amounts of chloroform in it into evidence?

The photo that they showed on tv, which was used for the superimposed video, had Casey's face in it. Whether or not the superimposed video had Casey's face in it is beyond me as they didn't show the video. Personally, it would've been in the best interest to have Casey's face removed as there was plenty of room to just show Caylee's face. Having Casey's face there (and not stripped) would really make me feel that it was in there for emotional drama.

Here is a link to the photo that was used http://connect.in.com/caylee-anthony/photos-1-1-1-aa046708066b34e4cd3686b6fefe2f9b.html . You could definitely strip Casey's face from the photo and Caylee's would still remain intact with plenty of room for the superimposing.

I think they just needed a picture where Caylee was looking straight forward, and that fit the bill.

You know, this really gets me. I had to have my 16 year old dog put down unexpectedly today, and I have sobbed and sobbed and sobbed some more. Anybody looking at me hasn't had to question whether there were any tears actually coming out. They were everywhere. Casey Anthony makes me sick, and her play acting makes me sick, and her complete disregard and lack of remorse for her beautiful child makes me sick. Sorry, vent over now....
