A friend of mine works with kids and she describes some of the moms that she encounters as "showtime moms" in that when it's needed, they put on a good show as if they are a loving parent but the true story is that once the attention is off of them, the kid is on it's own....

Since Caylee didn't seem to have a babysitter at many stages of this story since "zanny" was watching her off and on for 2 years, perhaps Casey wasn't the Mom that she acted like when the spotlight was on her...

I think that's very true, and I think she had been drugging that child for quite awhile. Each time she did it, it got easier (assuming she had any conscience about it at all). :sad2:

Have to go to the dentist at 1 for a crown molding. I wonder how long that takes? ;) I need to get back here to see the cross examination. :scared1:
I had to do the same thing today. Ugh!

And let me just say...I could NEVER work as a 9-1-1 operator. :( It's usually not GOOD news.
I couldn't either. I know they are trained to stay calm and I never could, I would be freaking out!

funny - i have an id tag i put on dd when we go to wdw - it says

"my mummy is lost. Her name is Karen and her cell number is ......."
That's cute!

We're going to all need therapy after this trial. ;)
Definitely!!

And OMG, what does what Cindy thought about her daughter gaining weight and being sedentary in 2005, have to do with how Casey looks NOW after being sedentary for 3 years in jail? Cindy didn't HAVE that comparison back then! Ugh...I despise that man!
He wants to have the jury see she is more sedentary now and she doesn't look pregnant...Casey didn't look too happy about that!

I did notice that she was wearing a much more body revealing shirt when she walked into the courtroom today. Now I understand why.
That makes a lot of sense! I'm surprised she agreed to it though...

There has to be a method to his madness.. He just can't be that random... You had health insurance? huh?
I didn't understand that either.:confused3

uh, casey sold pics for $250000 to pay baez!!! What a friggin azz!!
::yes::

Oh my gosh, that picture just broke my heart.:guilty:

So do you guys think Cindy thinks Casey killed Caylee?
I think she's finally realizing it now.

I think that's very true, and I think she had been drugging that child for quite awhile. Each time she did it, it got easier (assuming she had any conscience about it at all). :sad2:

I know I am probably wrong about this but I don't get that feeling. By all accounts Casey was a good mother when she was with Caylee. Nobody reported seeing Caylee ever acting drugged.

I think she fought regularly with her mother about Caylee. I am guessing Cindy was on her butt constantly about growing up since she is a mother now. I am also guessing Casey hated playing second fiddle to Caylee when it came to her mom's attention. I think they had some serious knock down, drag 'em out fights the week leading up to Caylee's "disappearance" and Casey killed her to spite her mother. And in the beginning, I think Casey got exactly what she wanted. I think her parents bent over backwards for her even though they knew deep down that something awful happened. The focus was back on Casey; right where she wanted it.

But, what the heck do I know? I am probably way off.

Your guess is certainly as good as mine! :thumbsup2

The reason I believe that she had been drugging Caylee for quite awhile is because she had been mentioning the nanny "Zanni" for a long time before she blamed Caylee's disappearance on the non-existant Zanni. I feel like she had been using Xanex. Just a guess though. :)

Didn't Cindy say something to the effect of, she started to wonder if Casey was pregnant at the wedding? People asked her and the dress was quite fitted. I would not put it past Casey to have worn baggy tops, etc. up until the day of that wedding and then picked THAT day, a big occasion where she could be the center of attention to wear a form fitting dress that drew the eye to her stomach. She would be the center of chatter, her parents could be made fools of and the news would be out. Not to mention the joy of stealing the bride and groom's thunder.

When I was a student teacher, one of my students hid her pregnancy until she was 8 months pregnant. None of us suspected. You could not tell. When I was around 20, my friend got pregnant and was able to wear clothes WITH WAISTS until her 7th month. At the end of her 7th month, she very suddenly started showing.

It happens.

Yes, Cindy did say that. She started wondering after having her brother question her (although her initial reaction to him was that Casey was not pregnant).

In my own case, I really didn't show much until I was 7 months. I'm tall, and while I'm overweight now, I wasn't then. I didn't even wear maternity clothes until then. It is very possible for people not to know - particularly if they aren't looking for it.

I would love to know what was really happening to Caylee. Since we now know there was no nanny, just where was she those nights when the grandparents didn't have her and Casey didn't have her with her at the clubs?

I can't forget about the syringe in the Gatorade bottle found at the scene where they found the body, and the duct tape (with the remnants of a heart sticker on it). Did Casey often drug her and tape her mouth so she wouldn't cry? Did she place the heart sticker on the tape so that Caylee would like wearing it? OH - I just can't let my mind go in that direction without tearing up. :sad1:

Well, my friend who could wear clothes with waists until the end of her 7th month was only 5'3" and yet there was no way to tell she was pregnant.

I am not up on all the details. Is there evidence that Casey went out while she was suppose to be with Caylee long before her disappearance? A few of the friends have testified that they would hang out at someone's house when she had Caylee or Casey wouldn't go out because she didn't have anyone to watch Caylee.

It was my understanding that the grandparents saw Caylee every single day up until June 15th. One would think they would have noticed that their granddaughter seemed to be hungover in the mornings but they are masters of burying their head in the sand so who knows?

I haven't heard that she was bar hopping before June 15th and Caylee was unaccounted for. I haven't watched all of the trial or read all of the evidence so I might be wrong. If people can put her at bars weeks or months before Caylee was last seen and Cindy and George weren't babysitting, I will change my opinion that she was drugging her.

And I firmly believe she drugged her when she killed her. I just don't think she drugged her most of her little life.

So tragic no matter how it went down.

It's more difficult to hide a 7 month belly when you are 5'1" and slender. Good heavens, there's no way, they didn't know. I think, it was another denial...seems to be a ongoing thing in this family.IMO

I know I am probably wrong about this but I don't get that feeling. By all accounts Casey was a good mother when she was with Caylee. Nobody reported seeing Caylee ever acting drugged.

I agree. A child that age and that size, who would have been given drugs regularly, would act "off". Every family member & friend describes Caylee as an active, energic child and I don't think a kid on Xanax would be either active or energic.

Cindy said she usually had Caylee "in the evenings" when Casey was working. Casey wasn't working so she had evenings free to go see her friends. I don't think there was a whole lot of outside partying until Caylee went missing. Apparently Casey & Cindy had fights when Casey asked Cindy to watch Caylee, and there was that trip to Puerto Rico that all her friends went on and Casey couldn't because no one was there to watch Caylee. That might have been the last straw.

As far as the family noticing Casey was pregnant, I think it's different when you're actually living with the person. Casey didn't get the 7-month belly overnight. You don't necessarily notice the subtle changes when you see someone every single day.
I had a friend long ago whose thirteen year old got pregnant. She knew her daughter had put on weight, and that she seemed "rounder" but it didn't "click" with her. Until they went to a family reunion, and people who had not seen the girl for months knew instantly.

I hadn't ever thought about it like this, but that seems to make sense with what we know of Casey.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I had just gotten a job at a shoe store. It was a pretty good job for a part time job because it paid commission. About a week after I got the job, I found out I was pregnant. I did NOT let my boss know, because she had very crassly told me that the girl I was replacing she got rid of because she was pregnant. I was shocked she would say that, since it's totally illegal to fire someone for being pregnant, but she quickly added that she made sure there was other stuff that were the official reasons. I wanted to keep that job, so from the beginning I wore looser clothes. I got that job in September and I left at the end of February, and no one knew I was pregnant. My son was born the end of May. It is possible to conceal a pregnancy, especially a first pregnancy, through the second and even into the beginning of the third trimester....though of course I didn't LIVE with these people, they weren't my parents, that part does seem a little off...

Well I think another thing this family has proved is that they are good at denial.

This:thumbsup2
Have to go to the dentist at 1 for a crown molding. I wonder how long that takes? ;) I need to get back here to see the cross examination. :scared1:

Went to the dentist on Day2. Thank goodness for my Iphone. Dentist worked while I listened LOL!

Are you guys just floored to hear lie after lie after lie today? And she has no facial reaction....

Oh she had a facial reaction, her lips were puckered out all day! OMG! I wanted to slap her ugly mug. What was up with the lips, and how could she hold that expression for so long? UGH.

This is what she looks like with a normal expression:

This is what she looked like ALL DAY yesterday

I wonder about her regularly drugging caylee because as other posters have pointed out, caylee didn't seem drugged. She seemed very active & verbal, and I would think her cognitive development would be impaired if she endured long term drug use. As verbal as she was, I would think she would have said something about the tape, not that she would know it was wrong, just mention something about.

But then why does she gush when she talks about Casey as a mother? I don't get it...

I understand not wanting to see your daughter go to jail and not wanting to believe the worst about your own flesh and blood...but omg it's time to see things clearly and realize that Casey is a bad egg.
Because I think Cindy is on the stand telling the truth AND still loves her daughter. She saw Casey's behavior with Caylee as being a good mother, or at the very least, having a good bond (even if Cindy had other issues with Casey as a mother, like her wanting to go out with her friends a lot), and that's what Cindy was talking about. Going on to KILL her is separate from what she observed before that.
He wants to have the jury see she is more sedentary now and she doesn't look pregnant...Casey didn't look too happy about that!
I know what Baez was trying to do having Casey stand up. What I mean tho is that Cindy is saying that they thought SIX YEARS ago that Casey was sedentary and they thought she was gaining weight. Baez said that NOW she's sedentary and put on weight...does she look like she did 6 years ago? Even if she had gained the same amount of weight, how can something AFTER the fact (how she looks now) be a point of reference for something that happened SIX YEARS ago? If it were the other way around...6 years ago she actually was sedentary and gained weight, and NOW she's pregnant, you can say that they should know NOW that she's pregnant because when she gained the weight 6 years ago, she didn't look anything like this. KWIM?

I think that sounds VERY Casey=ish. Good analysis!

::yes:: I agree with you. I don't think there were nights when Casey was out partying before Caylee died without someone watching Caylee.

I think the whole prosecution case is really falling into place.

But IF Casey was drugging Caylee and duct-taping her mouth to keep her quiet so that she could party, she would NOT have wrapped it all the way around her head, and attached to her hair, the day she died. On that day, that duct tape was placed there with NO intention of taking it off. :( That day was no accident.

I lead a very sad life.

I saw the Judge this morning outside of my office at the ATM. I was all, "OMG IT'S THE JUDGE!! IT'S THE JUDGE!!!!!!" to my husband, who basically told me it was no big deal. ;) I told him I so wanted to yell, "WOOO!! GO JUDGE! YOU ROCK!!!" since I love how he is always shutting Baez down, but then I was worried he'd be all mad.... ;)

Anyways, it was sad I was so excited to see this guy. :P

Went to the dentist on Day2. Thank goodness for my Iphone. Dentist worked while I listened LOL!

Dentist didn't turn on the tv, because my view was 2 women staring down at me the whole time. I was able to catch up nicely after.

I go back to the dentist this morning, but it's just for a cleaning. YAY!

Bring on the cross ex today.

I think I would have been excited myself. I think the judge is doing a good job, and he may have been a little irrated if you had yelled out to him, only because I think he is a far different judge than Lance Ito was. He is clearly not using this for fame or grandstanding like Ito was. He is just doing what he has done for 30 years, and that is prevailing over a courtroom.

I watched the highlights last night.

Both JVM and NG focused only on Cindy's testimony.

(side bar--the conflict that mother had during this whole ordeal *would* make a compelling story)

Did the state redirect after Jose's cross examine? Specifically regarding George's so-called un-involvement in the 911 call?

I agree with the opinions here that if he did just show up, he would not have any idea what is going on nor have the time to process it.

I know that I go into immediate busy body mode, so if I just arrived home I would be all trying to figure it out if I found a hysterical family member on the phone.

My husband though--you would have to tell him the story several times before he got it--if he just walked into it and was not hearing the events that let up to the moment of hysteria.:confused3

As for Cindy "gushing", mentioned up thread....She was simply reminiscing. That does not point to Casey's innocence. It seemed that Baez is not skilled at the cross examine---he should have capatilized on it. The continued focus on George isn't going to get her off. She has noone to back up her story, the defense admits she is a known liar, and on the 911 tapes, she has her opportunity to get the help she needs and she lies her way through it.

Baez is going for "If it does not fit, you must acquit". But he is coming across as:
"If she don't testify, it's a lie"
"By her speaking falsely, you must find her guilty"

So far--there is no magical "glove" that implicates George.

***Very funny Dr. Girlfriend. I Am that way too when I spot people. My husband thinks of me as being silly.
