what kind of water was found in her lungs?

was it chlorinated pool water or water from the bath or from a lake?

who said she drowned? if the body was sooooooo badly decomposed there wouldn't be a way to tell if she drowned

is this something the defence said in opening? i didn't see that.

i am only seeing what's been shown the last 2 days so i may be asking questions that have been answered months ago with pretrial stuff or stuff in the papers in the states - which i'm not getting being up in canada ;)

It is impossible to understand how a mother can kill their own child but look at Susan Smith, she did it for some guy she was in love with. All these cases are impossible to understand but nevertheless they have happened.

I keep thinking about Susan Smith as you mentioned and Diane Downs from years ago-shot her 3 kids, herself, then claimed a man did it. 1 kid survived and testified against her. she also did it for a man. Diane was very narcisstic, loved the spotlight of the trial, Casey is like Diane Downs in a lot of ways.

I just find it hard to believe that Lee would announce anything that was truly incriminating at a memorial service that he knew would be seen nationwide. If anything, those words "keep your secret" would certainly draw a lot of attention and discussion - not what you would want if you were truly guilty of anything. JMHO though.
Lee didn't say "Keep your secret", and I didn't say he did. I said "I think he was sending that message to Casey, possibly about never telling what he knows", based on what he said at the Memorial Service..."I will never forget the promise that I made to you." Of course, I'm just speculating. I don't think Lee is "announcing" anything, but he sure as heck is speaking in code. Who he is speaking to, and what he means, is anyone's call. Cindy's, Casey's and Caylee's initials are all CMA.

Here is the transcript of Lee's speech.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has had any sort of role in making today a special day. Thank you.

If I could ask something from anybody that was willing to hear it it would be this. For those of us that are frightened or angry or mournful or that just don't undertstand, I ask that you fill your heart with patience and grace and you allow yourself to yield any judgements that you may already have.

For those of us that will never be the same again, I ask that you feel, fill your heart with hope and forgiveness and you allow yourself to cope and heal.

Finally, for those of us that have the knowledge and the means to facilitate the answers that my family deserves, I ask that you fill your heart with compassion and truth and I ask that you allow your conscience to speak for you when your mind cannot comprehend the right words to say.

I sincerely hope that this day allows those affected by it to take from it whatever it is that you need to take. If it's closure you seek here today, I certainly hope you're able to find it.

Today is the day to remember.
Today is the day to pay tribute.
Today is the day for this family to unite and display their solidarity and strength. I've gotta tell you, it is hard to stand up here and be the pillar of strength.

This family is united, but this family is incomplete. I'm incomplete. I, uh, I'm broken.

CMA-(he kisses his wrist bracelet 2 times) CMA

Each day you continue to teach me about life and about the way it should be lived. Each day you give me the ability to be strong or to be weak.

It's been so long since I've been able to see you or to hug you or to tell you how much you mean to me.

CMA- I miss you. I love you.

CMA- I am so proud of you. I hope you're proud of me too. I need you to know that I will never forget the promise that I made to you.

I will never forget.

Just bones were found. No tissue, so no lungs. It's just Casey's/the defense story. Cause of death could not be determined. Manner of death was ruled a homicide.

thats what i thought but then i thought i must have missed something.

so they are just covering the bases IF casey says she drown in teh pool by accident and she didn't know what to do.

They're not exactly covering their bases. Their defense is that George and Casey found Caylee dead in the pool after an accidental drowning, and that George yelled at Casey that it was her fault, Cindy would never forgive her, and that Casey would go to jail for child neglect. Their defense is also that Casey learned to lie and put on a happy face from years of sexual abuse by her father George and then having to go out and face friends and classmates...lying and covering up what happened to her.

I just don't see it that way. I don't know what the promise was - to love you, to find out what happened to you, or something else - but it sounds like he's speaking to Caylee - a child who was much loved and now gone.

Does anyone here remember seeing a clip from the memorial service the Anthony's held for Caylee? Casey of course was in jail at the time but Lee spoke directly to Casey at the end of his tribute portion and said something like "CMA...I'll always keep my promise to you" - I want them to get him on the stand and I want to know what he knew about all of this.

I thought he was taking to Caylee

I completely missed this - anyone have a play back link?

MaryAnn posted it a bit back, but here it is again"

Theat Casey would go to jail for child neglect. Their defense is also that Casey learned to lie and put on a happy face from years of sexual abuse by her father George and then having to go out and face friends and classmates...lying and covering up what happened to her.

I hope the jury sees that Casey's lying goes waaaay beyond putting on a happy face and pretending nothing is wrong. Her lying is diabolical. As you sit and listen to Cindy tell the stories, its plain weird. The details; names, kids names, histories, entirely made up characters ...I don't even have a word to describe it.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm right. Maybe no one will ever know. It seems highly suspect, IMHO, that he wouldn't just refer to Caylee as "Caylee"...sounds "warmer" to me. Conveniently, all 3 have the same initials. He was being evasive and cryptic, IMHO, on purpose. Why? I don't know. Like everything else on this thread, we can only speculate. I suspect Lee knows something...he may or may not. And I think his comments in that speech are questionable and suspicious. JMHO Everyone here can pick who they think Lee was referring to with any or all mention of "CMA", and we just don't know. And I think that's exactly what he wanted.

The defense is now saying she drowned..said it was an accident on the 16th and that george was involved in the cover up..and you are right when they found her remains there was only bones...no way to test

Thanks for posting that link again! I'm still recovering from last night. LOL

It was truly bizarre listening to all the tales that Casey spun. Who can DO that?!

When I moved my mom to Assisted Living 5 years ago and cleaned out her 10 room house, plus garage and attic loaded with stuff, she kept asking me "What did you do with (fill in the blank...for example, the yellow and orange floral sheets that felt like sandpaper...you could exfoliate yourself on them!)?" and it just made me nuts because she wanted EVERYTHING to go to one of my siblings or the grandchildren (and not Salvation Army or a yard sale), when NO ONE WANTED THIS STUFF. So someone told me I should just tell her I gave this or that to so and so, or so and so. And she probably would never know, but I just couldn't! She may not remember what she had for lunch on any given day, but quite possibly she'd remember to ask "so and so" if they had gotten the (fill in the blank). And I didn't want to get in trouble for lying! But besides that, I never wanted her to FEEL like she was being lied to; that she hadn't lost complete control of her life. Maybe I just know I'm a crappy liar. :)

If only Casey had put her talent at creating fiction to some good use!

JB is going to keep alluding to Casey's fantasy/alternate reality worlds, but obviously they were not fantasy worlds. Everything was designed to deceive someone about something! Not exactly the escape created by an abuse victim! More like the mind of a sociopathic liar.

Though the state may not have to prove motive, it does not seem like it would be difficult. Casey obviuosly enjoyed a party life that is not usually compatible with responsible parenting. The Anthony's were experiencing financial challenges. Cindy's therapist had advised not supporting Casey and Caylee. Cindy had a fight with Casey about her stealing. It could have looked to Casey as though her free ride might be over. She could have been seeking revenge against Cindy after the fight. The ability to live the high life might be more difficult. Plenty of motive for a narcisscist.

Cindy seems somewhat confused. The trauma of it all must have taken its toll. Living with a sociopathic liar who holds you emotionally hostage can turn one a bit upside down also.

I was thinking that today while Cindy was testifying. Unbelievable creator of fiction, that Casey was (is).

And welcome to the DIS! :flower3:

I need a recap of Thurs, Fri & Sat. A simple one. I've caught some of it. I know who's been called to the stand. I know Bozo is an idiot.

I've followed this story closely since it started in 2008. I've read the timelines in the first post here.

I'm wondering if there was any earth-shattering statements made by witnesses on the stand, or anything said we didn't already know about.

Thanks. I was away, but did my best trying to watch some on my cell phone when I could, but was unable to see Nancy Grace or any TV news recaps.

Are they in trial on Monday, Memorial Day?

Thanks for the welocome! None of the men in my house are interested in the case. I sit alone watching in my room! Good to find others interested in discussing the events.

I thought this was really interesting. Especially the part about them still looking for Zanny until they found out that the defense was going to say George abused Casey and that she admitted Caylee died on the 16th of June.

I just started watching the court proceedings on TV today. I only caught what the defense opening statements. He is saying Caylee drowned in the pool. Why then did Casey or George use duct tape on her mouth if she died by drowning. No need to quit the child as she is already dead. Does not make any sense to me. Susan

ok i am way behind in all this , as my internet & tv has been out all week.

she was drowned?
did the autopsy show that?

& casey did or did not know this?
& have they gotten into why she did not report her child missing?

I can't even tell you...my brain is fried right now, trying to follow this and DD's wedding last night. But I can tell you that court is NOT in session on Monday, Memorial Day.

I commented about that today, as soon as Cindy said they were looking for Zani until 6 weeks ago. It was 6 weeks ago when Baez started putting out there about the big bombshell in the first 3 minutes.
