Something definitely seems 'off' about Casey. Look, forget for a minute about whether she is guilty of murder or not - just go with the assumption that something happened and she is privy to what it was:

She didn't tell anyone for a month. That's pretty bizarre. Whatever happened it would have been in her best interest to start with the 'Caylee has gone missing/been kidnapped' story from the beginning, ASAP. Leaving any amount of time between the event and it being reported just taints her story. It's almost like she was in denial about that fact that something had happened.

She lies. A lot. It's almost like she believes her own lies (taking those guys to Universal Studios under the pretense that she still worked there for example). It's almost like a child playing make-believe to take things so far.

She gets most upset when she is referenced in court. Again, this is very childlike. It would be in her best interest to at least feign some serious emotion when Caylee is mentioned. Yet she doesn't (I know there was something today but it was barely anything). It's like how children get upset about being punished rather than being upset that they may have hurt someone. I wonder if she even grasps the magnitude of the situation. She doesn't seem like an especially stupid person, so she should understand the importance of what's happening and be making an effort to play the loving mother (regardless of what happened if she wants to walk free), yet she isn't.

I'm not saying she's innocent. At the very least I think she is aware of what happened. But I do think her behaviour is more than a little strange. She's behaved in the most unbelievably reckless way and doesn't seem to have made any real effort to display innocence. For a second, stop looking at it as though she's unbelievably stupid and a cold blooded killer and look at her behaviour compared to a child. It's not a million miles away.

FL does have the death penalty, but the method is the electric chair not the needle, I believe.

Interestingly enough, Florida employs both electrocution and lethal injection as methods of execution, but as with all states who have legalized the death penalty, lethal injection is the primary method. Ann Finnell, the attorney preparing the penalty phase of this case, specifically cited lethal injection as the delivery method while questioning potential jurors, so that leads me to believe if Casey is sentenced to death, that is how Florida Corrections will proceed. It does make me wonder how they decide to use the electric chair (i.e., is it by inmate request? For medical reasons? etc.)

Cool I did not know that.

They switched to lethal injection after a mishap during the execution via chair of an inmate a few years back that indicated he may have suffered. So they stopped using it. (yes, I get how weird that sounds.)

Electric chair ceased being an option a few years back. It may be an option, but they don't use it.

by the way - it's a good thing none of us are on the jury.

courts been out for 3.5 hours and we're still talking about it LOL - i think we'd be held in contempt

LOL. I was thinking about this trial all afternoon. I don't think I would have made the jury pool anyhow, but if I was seated on this jury and found her guilty I do not know if I could sentence the death penalty. I believe in the death penalty, but since this is mostly circumstantial evidence that we are all going on I just couldn't do it. I would need a full confession (which will never happen from Casey) or there would need to be witnesses and tons of physical evidence leading to the conviction. I would feel totally comfortable with life in jail with NO chance of parole.

I watched the entire court session this morning. Cindy is a strong woman. The state went through the days before and after Caylee went missing. She ended on the day Cindy went to Universal to look for Caylee. Then the state mentioned Cindy developing a myspace page, Biaz didn't like that, after a few sidebar discussions, Judge Perry released the jury, telling them to enjoy their 2 days off. There was no cross. The state is still questioning her.

My heart broke for Cindy. She asked the judge if she could turn the monitor away, it was hard to look at a picture of Caylee. She also broke down when the state admitted a picture of Caylee's playhouse. It was so precious, it even had a little mailbox. She also mentioned that whenever they were not using the pool, the ladder was removed. Makes me wonder how the defense will spin Caylee getting into the pool all by herself ultimately causing her to drown.

I actually think this is the last straw day for Casey. Casey wanted to go in the pool with them and Cindy said no that Caylee had enough already. So "just the grandma" was telling her, the Mom, what to do with her child. While they had an emotional night I can just see Casey sitting in her room and starting to think it all out and do an "I'll show her" type of thing.

And for some reason I always figured it was an inground pool, especially when he said Bozo said Caylee accidentally drowned.

ok - maybe it's just me but when i watch a law show or a court case i often look up what they are talking about.

if the cops ere to come and take my computers away they would see all kinds of searches

including cloraform (thanks to this case)
drowning
bomb making (criminal minds)
some taliban names (NCSI)

just to name a few. i would hate to think what someone could put together because of what i search

but then again my daughter is still alive and well (though driving me nuts today) so in context these things never look good

They look at totality of events. (is totality a word?:rotfl2:)

Her internet searches are pertinent due to everything else going on.

I missed yesterday and todays coverage because we had storms and I haven't had power since Thursday evening:mad: Can someone please give me a quick update? Who and what did I miss? Thanks!

Tony Lazaro (sp?) and Cindy took the stand.

Not sure what all of the questions to Tony were, but they did submit a text message conversation into evidence. It is the conversation that took place the early morning hours after Caylee was finally reported missing.

In a nutshell "Caylee's missing and if they can't find her 'guess who's going to jail'" and Tony wondering why she didn't report her missing and why she is texting and not calling him.

Cindy--went through brief history of Casey's childhood (moving to FL and where she went to school) And then into a detailed discussion of home layout, yard layout. Pictures of Caylee's bedroom were shown and of Caylee. Cindy broke down on stand--Casey remained stone faced.

Then into layout of yard, little bit about pool (Cindy ALWAYS took ladder down). Then it got to the playhouse...we first see something from Casey (head shaking no--not sure why). Then, Cindy needs a break and then all heck breaks loose (with sound off) with Casey having an angry temper tantrum regarding her mom.

Cindy comes back--I did not catch the testimony. Objection and sidebar, then it was close to 1:00 and time to end court for the day. HTH.

I completely missed this - anyone have a play back link?

ya ya can't have those evil people suffer - isn't it funny how they get the clean quick painless way to died when that's never how their victims die

Thank you for the update! Does anyone know if Leonard Padilla (the bounty hunter who bailed Casey out of jail) will testify?

I picked up on that today too. When Cindy said that she spent an afternoon with the baby in the pool, then KC comes home wanting to join and Cindy telling her that Caylee had enough and it was time for her to get out. It probably did make KC mad. The next day, I pictured KC going swimming with the child and she drowned. KC panics, hides the body and takes off. I'm curious, where that pool ladder was the day she went missing. Before Cindy's testimony today I was thinking that it was all planned. KC tied duct tape around the childs head and suffocated her. Now, I'm not so sure. The one thing I do know. KC killed her daughter. And I'm not buying because of her abusive childhood she was hiding the truth the entire 31 days Caylee was missing, when the authorities asked KC what she was doing for those 31 days, she said she was looking for her child. She's full of it!

now i get that cindy says she "always" puts the ladder away but surely at least once it was forgotten.

we have a pool and we have one of those alarm thingy that you stick to the door to make a sound when it's open - as long as its on

we have a deck around our pool so no ladder - THANK GOD dd is and always has been (as far as the pool was concerned) a kid who listened when we said she was not to go on that deck without mummy, daddy nanny or papa being there.

a few times when she was 2 and 3 someone would forget to put the alarm on when they came in and she would open the door and walk out to play

i also thank everything possible that we did teach her to swim/float so that if she ever did fall in teh pool she could float to the stairs and get out.

but i do see where the prosecution is going with that line of questioning

Thanks for the response. :goodvibes

I'd been putting stuff off the past couple days and figured since today was a shorter court day I'd go ahead and get some errands done.

BTW - Maroon 5 ... :thumbsup2 They remind me of "ABC", an 80's group.

Cindy said that she put the ladder on the side of the house, then she spent the evening inside with KC and Caylee. When George came home late from work everyone was asleep. She went on to say that the next day (Monday) was a very busy day for ALL of them. She got up early and went into the office. She never saw Caylee again. So Cindy remembers putting the ladder against the house Sunday afternoon/evening. What I want to know is if anyone touched the ladder the next day. The day Caylee went missing. Cause if that ladder was still in the same position on the side of the house were Cindy had left it in the night before, then that proves KC lied about what happened to that child. Caylee couldn't have climbed into that pool by herself without the ladder in position.

I hate to think this was murder.

Knowing now that there were words about not going back in the pool, maybe KC just wanted to "show her" who was the mother and went back in the pool with Caylee. It doesn't seem like it would take too much for KC to be distracted and stop watching Caylee. Then, if Caylee drowned - not only would panic strike, but also the thought that Cindy was right - and KC couldn't let Cindy know that she (KC) messed up.

I wonder if she could hide it for so long simply because she didn't want to listen to her mother. It's really mind boggeling.

I agree with a PP that maybe Cindy was so controlling because she knows KC well.

I just don't understand why KC won't tell what happened now if it was an accident.

That poor little girl.

no that's true but people want a motive.

they want to knwo why she would do such a thing and want to be able to say - that's just not good enough

jury's need a reason for someones actions - if it's not provided they tend to have a hard time with the whys

The timeline that I read included conversations about how involved she was with Tony Lazarro (I think that's the right boyfriend). Apparently, she was extremely serious about him. A former boyfriend was wanting to get together, and she was telling him how crazy she was about this guy. However, Tony, unlike other boyfriends, didn't want Caylee to spend the night with them (one boyfriend testified about how he, Casey, and Caylee all slept together).

I never liked Cindy Anthony because she was so combative but today on the stand I felt sorry for her. I could see how much she loved her granddaughter and the way they fixed up the backyard with the little house etc. I think they tried everthing with Casey and nothing worked. It is impossible to understand how a mother can kill their own child but look at Susan Smith, she did it for some guy she was in love with. All these cases are impossible to understand but nevertheless they have happened. I feel very sorry for George Anthony but I always did. Thats it for today, we'll have to wait for Tues.

I think this is a part of what happened. I think she wanted to spite her mother, and I think she felt Caylee was in the way of her relationship with Tony. So she got her out of the way.

I had been of the opinion that it might have been an accidental overdose of choloroform (although still criminal), but one of her diary entries right after June 16th (when Caylee is thought to have died) talked about being happier than she had ever been and that she hoped the end would justify the means.

I know they want a motive, but I was just saying that the prosecution isn't required to give one. I DO think they WILL suggest possible motives...Casey wanting to live the good life, Casey wanted to keep Caylee from Cindy...something. That whole CMA thing at the service was creepy. And yes, I definitely think Lee knows more than he's said. I think he was sending that message to Casey, possibly about never telling what he knows, but at the same time, with CMA being Caylee's initials, he can always create a cover story.

IF Lee is covering for Casey, I hope he "gets his". I wonder what his fiance Mallory has asked of him since this all began. I don't see a marriage in their future. She seems way too normal.

I just find it hard to believe that Lee would announce anything that was truly incriminating at a memorial service that he knew would be seen nationwide. If anything, those words "keep your secret" would certainly draw a lot of attention and discussion - not what you would want if you were truly guilty of anything. JMHO though.

You know, Cindy has always seemed like a somewhat overbearing, controlling woman. But if I was the mother of a compulsive, accomplished liar who would not tell the truth if you held her at gunpoint, I would probably be heavy handed too, because experience would have taught me I needed to keep my thumb on Casey 24/7. I do not think Casey lies because Cindy is a hard***. I think it is the other way around.
I agree.

I picked up on that too, and dear God, I hope I don't try to tell my kids how to parent their children. :( And this was actually something that had started from Caylee's birth, wasn't it? Cindy held Caylee first, before Casey, and Casey had an issue with it? Who made that public, and when?
I completely missed this - anyone have a play back link?
A few pages back I posted a link to Casey getting angry. If you can't find it, if you look on WFTV, there's a link there that should be easy to find.

But WHAT proof? Cindy and/or George can testify that it was in the same place, but there's no real proof of anything.

^^^^^
She said the ladder was on the side of the house. So someone moved it to allow Caylee to get into the pool. There are so many twists and turns to this story! Also, if that baby did die in that pool. How did the duct tape get around her head? Who placed the heart sticker around the mouth? She claims George did it. But I just can't picture him placing the heart sticker on the mouth. I can picture KC doing it after she suffocated the child to death.
