Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

Casey Jordan also said it might be helpful if potential jurors were required to attend some type of seminar. Of course, Sunny Hostin took issue with that and accused Casey Jordan of calling the jurors "stupid". It seems that to Sunny Hostin, the jurors are untouchable - that we have no right to question or criticize their decision. I'd love to ask Ms. Hostin this question: if it came out that, for example, a particular juror was trying to force a quick decision in order to go on a vacation, would she still feel that the juror was above reproach? Is there any juror conduct that she would criticize?

She would not be saying this is she was found guilty.

If people have to decided based on LAW...

I do think some coaching is in order.

Think of how many people are ticked off at the McD's lawsuit. (yes, I realize that is not a criminal suit--but similar idea). I can see both sides--but the evidence is particularly in the plaintiff's favor.

Think of if people decided to ignore the law and just feel that the woman was stupid and it's her own fault?

Well the jury found fault because they followed the law and found the evidence met the criteria necessary to find McD's at fault. They were not swayed by a "well of course Coffee is hot defense".

What happened in this case was a "we must not trust George defense". And the jury bought it without following the law.

Educating jurors is not a bad idea. I do not know how that would be done. Baez would object that it is inflammatory to his client.

Casey says that she misses shopping and pedicures the most.

Funny how she doesn't miss Caylee. Yeah ... she really needs that grief counseling ....

She said that? Really?

Also, Bob Keating tweeted there will be a press conference tomorrow with Orlando LE. Melich and Allen to answer questions. No idea what time though. This is one presser Id like to see.

quack, quack, quack :donald:

Hopes this thread will die soon

Just like Caylee did? :guilty:

OK - just heard a clip from Ann Finnell. She she said:

"We all very much believed her [Casey] version of the events and still do."

Then Finnell said that she doesn't think that Casey knew what happened.

I just heard Ann Finnel's comments. I think what they are doing is even worse than backpedaling.

Wha'chu talking 'bout Ann Finnel? So 1) they believed Casey's version of what happened but 2) Casey didn't know what happened? Now how is that even possible Ms Finnel?

The day after Casey Anthony's verdict was read in the courtroom, the money started rolling in.

Jail records show just as the trial was wrapping up, people who presumably don't know Casey were sending her money in jail.

Did it show if the senders were male? Because I can't believe all the comments by men who want to "take care" or marry Casey when she's released :upsidedow

There was one poll on HLN today that had only 9% of the men answering thought Casey was gulty. And even local news showed a story about a fight that resulted when one man "agreed with the jury's decision and said he would like to meet Anthony and "maybe have kids with her."

We need a male DISer to explain what's up

NEW YORK -- Casey Anthony defense attorney Cheney Mason spoke about his client on NBC's "Today" on Monday morning.

Mason said he never believed Anthony killed her daughter.

Well, isn't that funny because back in 2008 he said:

Defense attorney Cheney Mason said claims made by Casey Anthony and Baez that Caylee was alive will now work against them at trial.
"Then all the talking, all the press interviews and the parents going on this show and that show and the lawyer going on different shows establishes they have no credibility whatsoever," Mason said.

Mason said an insanity defense would be even more difficult to prove, Rahter said.
"It's really difficult to be not criminally responsible. You have to prove they know right from wrong and they understand the consequences of their actions. Obviously, Casey understood the consequences of her actions because she worked really hard to cover it up," Rahter said.
If the case plays out how many think, the experts agree on what will likely happen.
"You can pretty well predict there's going to be a life sentence, either a plea and get it over with or have a circus trial and then be convicted and get life," Mason said.

According to one of the talking heads on the Dr. Drew show. I can't remember who it was. If they repeat it, I'll watch and see if I can catch it.

I saw it on our local news. It showed that the things she missed most were manicures, pedicures and nice underwear.

So nice to hear of a few of her favorite things.

sunny Hostin just said KC will be in an informal prison the rest of her life. oK, I am gettin' with Sunny on that one! I don"t see how KC can re- enter society.

When I heard the verdict I felt especially sad for Yuri melich. He rode to the morgue in the Medical Examiners' van with Caylee's little bones just so she wouldn't be alone. Heck, he was even nice to Casey during those first interviews -- giving her every possible opportunity to confide in him that there had been a terrible accident.

I hope Melich and Allen know that they were, in every instance, better caretakers of Caylee than her own mother. They should be very proud of their efforts, but I bet they feel they should've done more.

Sometimes Good vs. Evil is just so glaringly obvious.

In reference to whether Casey really said "that", it refers to letters she wrote to another inmate when she was talking about things she really missed. I'm not sure if anyone posted this link earlier but here are some of the letters. http://www.clickorlando.com/download/2010/0406/23069328.pdf

What's confusing is which letter is from Casey since they have nicknames for each other and in one of them, she refers to Lee and how he used to come into her room at night starting from age 12 to age 15 then her faintly "remembering" something about her dad coming into her room. Also she referred to the "real" Zanny and how Casey was getting money together along with new clothes and was in the process of getting away from her family when Caylee became missing and how Casey wished she could "go back to that day and not let have let Caylee out of her sight". Casey said she had to wait to report Caylee missing because "she was and she wasn't".

This girl needs extensive counseling for many years to come but I don't think it should be at the expense of taxpayers. It's scary to even think of her back in society and the possibility of having another child....

Very well said!

I had never heard that about Melich before. How dare those low-life CA lawyers trying to make him out to be a bad cop who rushed to justice. It really sickens me.

She could in another country. But as a felon, can she get a passport?
