Casey Anthony Civil Trials Discussion

I can't believe I am going to type this. I am actually going to defend Cindy for a brief moment. This will be very hard for me because I can't stand her but reading the bold above sparked my momentary kindness. I blame you, Walden! ;)

I am willing to bet Cindy has done some internet searching. It has to be hard for any parent to come to grips with the fact that your daughter is a murderer. I can see Cindy searching for any kind of explanation. If Casey had one seizure in her lifetime and there was one article on the entire internet that connected lying with seizures, I could see Cindy running with it. She is in such denial and willing to grasp onto anything that will provide an explanation, realistic or not, because the alternative is to say, "My own daughter killed my granddaughter out of spite" and nobody wants to have to say and think that about their child.

From what I have read since this trial, Cindy didn't do anything lawyers and judges don't see on a daily basis in courtrooms across America. The only difference was that Cindy did it live and we never see most of these other trials. I was listening to a judge tell the story of a guy that robbed a bank at gunpoint and beat someone to near death. The entire thing was captured on the bank cameras with a date and time stamp and clearly showed his face at times but mommy took the stand and insisted Junior was at home with her the entire time.

Okay, I have snapped out of it now. I almost went to the dark side but I am back. I don't like Cindy. Never have, never will. I have more sympathy for George but it is hard to be more sympathetic when someone is missing their backbone. I will be curious if George says more than three sentences during the Dr. Phil interview. If he does, I am assuming he will tow the line with Cindy. I hope he at least shows a glimpse of reality and logic but I am guessing that won't happen.
I agree with everything you said. I had posted before about the 15 yr old kid in RI, Craig Price, who murdered a woman and her two young daughters (and another woman when he was 13, which went unsolved for two years), confessed, gave extremely detailed accounts of the crime, and his mother Shirley still felt he didn't do it...that he was there, but others committed the crimes.
Shirley says Craig's brother, John Jr., holds himself to blame. Craig wanted to go out that night with his brother, she says, but John said no. "It has affected him to this day."

Which night was that? The night of the Spencer murder? Or the Heatons?

Shirley Price frowns at the question. She scolds, "Craig didn't kill Becky."

She says he didn't kill the Heatons, either.

It's suddenly clear why Craig Price had said at our first meeting that talking about the murders would hurt his mother.

He never told his family what happened.

The women explain their understanding that Price was among about four youths who participated in the Heaton atrocity, but they are sure that Craig did not commit the violence.

Shirley says: "I said to God, 'Tell me if my child did this and then give me the strength to endure.' And my answer was that my child did not do this. He was there. He was there and for that he has to pay, OK? I know God. I've talked to Him. He answered me. He told me to be patient, and a peace and calmness came over me."

But what of Craig's confession?

"The police only wanted to hear what they wanted to hear," Kimberly (Craig's sister) says.
I always thought, regardless of what I personally think of Cindy, that it had to be hell what she was going through. I have to be a tad sympathetic because as a mother , I just can't imagine having to deal with this kind of situation. Whether it was my fault or not or any other reason, it had to be harder than anything imaginable.

That said, I dont get this interview thing now. At this point, she needs to realize the jig is up. Daughter went on trial and was found not guilty. She needs to just shut up and thank whoever she thanks, that Casey is out and she got what she wanted. No more excuses, no more explanations. No one wants to hear more manufactured crap.

If she is going to do interviews, she needs a new angle. Personally, I think they should just hide and go back to their lives. This need to come out and CONTINUE to defend Casey when people aren't going to believe you is stupid. Pat yourself on the back for getting your daughter off and be happy with that because she isn't going to make fans, no matter how hard she tries, especially with more ridiculousness!
I so agree!
Seriously though. If Casey Anthony's defense from the beginning had been that she was seizing while Caylee drowned, had absolutely no memory of hiding the body (memory loss is also associated with seizures), then went ugly coping because her brain synapses were misfiring, etc. and this was all backed up with EEG and doctors' reports -- would we have believed it?

I would have thought it a much better story and defense.
Which beginning are we talking about? ;) Before or after Zanny the Nanny story? I'd have a better shot at believing ANYTHING if it was backed up by something other than Casey, who was proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be the biggest liar I could ever imagine.

Good point about which beginning! Possibly immediately after LE confronted her with Zanny the nanny's total nonexistence in the building where Casey Anthony didn't work. If not then, perhaps when Baez told her (as I presume he did) that chucking George under the bus without a shred of evidence that he was a sexual abuser or was in any way involved in hiding the body was an extremely risky defense strategy.

I'm still in shock that the jury aquitted Casey given the idiotic defense Baez presented. It was assinine. :sad2:

A medical incapacity defense would have been less risky, IMO.

Anyway it is all hypothetical. I think Cindy is latching onto this new theory in denial. I doubt Casey does have a seizure disorder. And I really doubt that a seizure disorder is the reason for anyone to have a history of pathological lying like Casey.

I also agree that Cindy should give up seeking to sell her latest version of the never-ending changing stories. I've had enough of that horrible woman!

One of the most awful consequences of the verdict is that it encourages the Anthonys to continue lying. Remember that nasty voice mail Cindy left for Tim Miller in which she warns him not to mess with the Anthony family because they always win (I'm paraphrasing)? Well, the verdict was the ultimate win and now they are even more empowered. Cindy is convinced beyond all doubt that she can get away with anything, convince us all of anything. George just follows along because he's a slug.

They are really pathetic.:sad2::mad:

So Cindy wants to believe that Caylee drowned, after saying she put the ladder away. I dont think she can keep up with her own beliefs. One day it will still come crashing down all around them and they wont have any control over it. Then what will she do? George needs to get a backbone and stand up to his wife. She accusses him of all sorts of stuff and he still stands beside her. This about the worst case in history. Cassey hasnt gotten away with anything as she lives with it day and night. One day she will have to give an account for it.

Never heard that message before; here it is :sad2::

Once again, I think it is a stupid defense for Casey. Just like the "accidental drowning" theory. If it was an accident, then 911 would have been called. If she had a seizure and Caylee drowned during that time, it would still have been an accident and 911 should have been called. Nobody makes an accident look like a murder. Nobody takes the police on a wild goose chase and involves innocent people for an accident. The Anthony's are all crazy and in my mind, they are all guilty in the death of a sweet baby girl. Either when it happened or the covering up after the fact. I don't know how they sleep at night.

BTW- Kurby, how is Nicole doing?

I found this interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo7M-esOg-0&feature=fvwrel

While on the phone with 911, you can hear Casey saying she has nothing to tell the 911 operator. Therefore, she had no intention of helping authorities locate her (cough) missing (cough) daughter!

Why was this never brought up in court?

Yeah I heard her say that in the back ground the first time I heard it. I wonder if the operator gave anythought to it? Did the jury hear that? Opps no why would they they didnt hear anything else.

So, while Casey was seizing, Caylee decided this would be a good time to go swimming by herself? Or did finding Caylee drowned set off a seizure, and therefore, Casey's cover up of the death, and endless partying and lying?

I call ********.

There were rules regarding the 911 call.

They did hear the calls.

But Jose objected to their use under, I think, the hearsay rule.

They were allowed to show something--but forgot what. But they were not allowed to be used as evidence of a crime (or something to that effect). It was one jury instruction that actually was obeyed.;)

As far as Cindy--I have learned that there are people who feel that the reasonable doubt thing is true and give far more benefit of doubt to Casey and her family. They cannot conceive of any heinous crime and will accept the Anthony family version of events over the lack of physical evidence (not required by law). They will not use the Anthony family words against them even if their own words demonstrate that their honesty is not so much. And--in some cases, they will not hesitate to judge those who don't have the same opinion. They cannot judge Casey--heaven forbid...because that isn't allowed...but they will judge those who feel she is guilty and the family is a bunch of lying fools.

So yeah--there are people out there who believe the nonsense. However, they aren't about to hire Casey or trust her family. But they will believe that what they say could be possible.

One thing is for certain--this family could have made a killing in the Fiction genre.

School started two weeks ago and I have been out of the loop. Took me only a few minutes to catch up. How did I miss all this stuff?

Dr. Phil was on the Today show this morning promoting the show that is actually airing Tue and Wed. Im still torn to watch it because I dont want to give his show ratings whatsoever. From the Today show clips I only learned that they hate the defense team for the allegations, and CA still doesn't believe Caylee was in the trunk of the car. Dr. phil also wanted to emphasize the point of IRS keeping track of Caylees fund and they wont be touching any of the money he is donating because the records are public....

I am still not going to watch. It would be too frustrating to listen to the denial mixed with lies. I am sure there will be a news article written that I can get the recap from.
