Casey Anthony Civil Trials Discussion

Get a load of this...
Screw Cheney Mason. :) But seriously (OK, that WAS serious) I did wonder when I was reading the book if Jeff Ashton had crossed the line with that info...BUT...he's a lawyer, and I suspect that other lawyers reviewed the book, including the publisher's.
DH and I were doing some shopping in Winter Park today. For those that don't know, it is a very nice walkable downtown area with plenty of shops, outdoor cafes, a park, and a lot of people on a normal day. Since it is only three days until Christmas, it was jammed. We were walking along and DH says, "Did you see that girl sitting at that table? She looks like Casey Anthony." I whip around as fast as I can, totally ignoring what was in front of me, and proceed to slam into the poor lady standing off to the side. Good thing DH and I were holding hands because he was able to yank me hard enough so I didn't take the lady down! Once we recover, apologize profusely to the old lady, I am still focused on seeing this Casey lookalike. We circle back around to this outside cafe where the girl is eating and I have to tell you it really did look like her except she was a good 50 pounds heavier. Unless Casey has been spending her down time stuffing her face, I mowed down a poor old lady for nothing.
Oh, that little old lady will recover, but you may never get a chance to check out another CA look-a-like, OR, even better, the real thing! I'd do the same thing. And Casey DID look chunkier pretty fast after her release...Jose Baez (Mr Honest *cough* *cough*) did say it was her in those Ohio pictures.

And now Kronk is suing CA. Is that new news? I can't keep track.

From Jeff Ashton's FB page:
There have been questions about Mason's motion to have me held in contempt. Fear not my friends just another desperate attempt by Mason to get noticed and throw some mud. My actions as always were above reproach. Rita and I are taking the kids on a trip after christmas. Have a happy holiday everyone. Stay tuned for big news after the new year , See you then

Big news?! Personal? Professional? CA related? :confused3

Movie deal based on his book?

I dunno either. Going to read the book this weekend if I have time!

Wasn't one or both of the defense attorneys supposed to face contempt charges that were going to be filed after the trial? I remember someone saying that those charges would probably be forgotten.

Just want to clarify that this is because of being in auto pilot mode with last minute Christmas wrapping, not my normal state of mind. :crazy:I bet that's it.

Maybe.... Just a thought I had.
Have started the book. Got to page three and I was almost hyperventilating!
I don't know if I can read it....

Imagine these jurors, having a loved one's body found with duct tape over its mouth...how much would they have agreed with Dr G if she had determined that their loved one died an accidental death. "Makes sense to me!" Um, I think not.

I certainly wish no harm to anyone, but this point is soooo on the mark.

You would think she would be too vain, but it might help her get out more.

I remember that, but I'm not sure what happened.

To get fat? I don't know. I think she had a tendency to get chunky.

JVM is rehashing some of the trial now. I really should stop watching...and just might...but somehow I'm drawn to reliving the whole horrid verdict. Train wreck mentality I guess.

....

Can you explain what was making you feel that way? Or anyone who has read the book??

I followed the case and this thread, and while I'd like to hear what Jeff Ashton has to say, if the book is upsetting, then I'd probably pass. Thanks :)

I haven't finished the book yet...sidetracked by a few things lately. I didn't find anything particularly disturbing or upsetting from what I read.

I did end up changing the channel from JVM, because I just cannot stand to see that verdict read or see and hear those jurors speak again.

FYI...on Monday, Dr Phil is repeating the episode with Jeff Ashton talking about the case and the book.

Nothing NEW so far, it is just reading his emotion about the jury coming back in and how he has been the prosecutor of many cases and when the jury doesn't ask to see more (evidence) in chambers that usually means a guilty verdict.... It just brought it all back to me. Pissed me right on off I tell you! He's a good writer.
I'm 1/2 done.

Oh, interesting...

I have not a single thought in my head! About anything! lol
Ah, that's ok. I usually have TOO many thoughts in my head, most of them not good or just plain useless...

I didn't find anything particularly disturbing. It did remind bring back the anger. But if you followed the trial and case, the beginning of the book is pretty much rehashing. I enjoyed reading it. Nothing earth shattering but I enjoyed JA's comments and some of that in chambers and side bar information. I wasn't bored reading it.

Well, ya never know for sure...:confused3 Poor old lady, but it was probably most excitement she's had for a while....;)

I agree, it was/is not boring at all and I love reading his comments!

Hmm..well if Casey wants to hold Ashton in contempt maybe she should come forward and tell the real truth. She wants everyone held responsible but herself. Her and Baez were the ones that came up with their own defense and made it known. Then Baez should be held in contempt for all the things he went and did and disobeyed the judges orders.

I don't think the contempt accusations have anything to do with Casey. It's her defense lawyers. I think that whole investigation and trial was personal between each side, and Mason isn't going to let anything go.

I do wonder what happened with those issues against Baez during the trial. :confused3

Thanks for all of the replies! This sounds like something I'll definitely read. I can remember that anger all too well.... :sad2:

And thanks for the tip about Dr. Phil. I missed every single episode of his show regarding this case (Ashton, The Anthonys, etc), so I'll catch it this time.
