Cases rising or dropping by you?

Well, here we are. We (quickly) broke that 200,000 daily cases level and 2,000 daily deaths level. It was not even two weeks ago that we were just past 100,000 daily cases
Yet, we still have a large population in this country that will object to any measures that get in the way of their “freedom”. Bring it, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It's

My county's clocking 50% chance for 25ppl right now, which is the number we sometimes have for Thanksgiving and FIL always has on Christmas Eve. That's already been cancelled.

I'm not afraid to live life right now, just trying to limit interaction and make space for people in public. What sticks with me the most now was mentioned by Fauci iirc... basically many deaths that occur this winter will be like soldiers taken end stage of war. A few sheets off a calendar determine their fate.

Watch Braveheart. Look what freedom got him.

That really is something...we hit 100K cases a day on November 4th. Seventeen days later....200K. I read an article in the NYT about how different things are in two states...New Mexico and South Dakota. New Mexico has strict restrictions right now, South Dakota is wide open. The curve of new cases in N.M is skyrocketing, but in S.D., the seem to have peaked and are coming down, at least for now. They have an incredibly high positivity rate in S.D., and so I wonder if the virus is running out of hosts in S.D....or if more people are isolating.

Based on this footage from the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, we're going to have a pretty awful December. Yes, I see a lot of masks here, but most of these people are likely headed to see family, thus mixing households. And some of the people in this crowd are likely Covid positive, possibly asymptotic. Thanksgiving 2020 is going to be the super spreader event of the year.....in a year with a lot of them.

I’m curious about this, if we’ll reach a point where between non-diagnosed asymptomatic people and those isolating and taking careful precautions, the cases will level off. I’m not optimistic it will last, because we’re also wide open with very few restrictions in Wisconsin, but our case curve has leveled off a bit this week. We’ll see how high today’s numbers are. :confused3

Hoping for the best for your state.

They don't need all those measures. They have Oleander and bleach.

I have a less scientific, but nevertheless better for this particular moment risk assessment source. .

Someone in one of the COVID threads stated that kids can socialize, have sleep overs, pasta parties, and other teen activities if the parents are okay with it.

Our district student numbers increased by 7 today. All went to the same sleep over last week. Three of the students attend one middle school, two attend ours, and the other two are elementary students at different schools. One party, 4 schools affected.
This is so frustrating. My kids think I’m a crazy person because I won’t let them go to these things. Some don’t even attempt to keep the gatherings small. It’s creating a lot of friction and depression in our house because they are feeling excluded. It is also the source of so much need for quarantine of classmates. It’s not spreading at school. It’s spreading at these get togethers outside of school. It seems so many around us are living normal lives and traveling. Even I’m questioning if I’m being too locked down. I feel like I keep being the cheerleader to boost their mood and get them to do things together. Lots of hikes. It’s so hard to keep 3 teen girls from their friend groups! Especially when they are all still having sleepovers etc. I wish some would limit the gatherings to a bubble of just the same few so they could be together but I can’t justify the large groups.

Rising, rising , rising. Mainly because of get togethers etc. Schools are having to go online because of so many people being put in quarantine...
