Pretty obvious from the numbers in every single area, that it didn't matter who closed or who stayed open, nothing worked like people thought it would. Every state seems to be going up no matter what measures were taken. In my mind, this is why people are hesitant to back another lock down or shut down or whatever you want to call it. How ridiculous. There are enforcement measures in place - they should be implemented, diligently, by the same authorities that made the regulations. Just like all other laws and ordinances. I'm not sure where you stand on this but the article you linked is not favorable to the concept.

Nope, sorry. US and most countries in Europe handled Covid-19 very badly and other countries (eg, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan) handled it extremely well. Best scientists from reputable institutions talked about the surge in cases during Fall and Winter from the beginning of pandemic, but most people in US didn't want to hear about it. They preferred to listen to a very few people who downplayed this pandemic because it made them feel good. Oh, just to add, just because a state government was more strict than another, it didn't mean that individuals would have followed their rules.

Another record for cases for our county today. Only 2 households are allowed in one household for a max of 6 people. Neighbors with several cars, all with all out of state plates, and people way over the max. 7-14 days from now there will be an explosion of cases.

If you watch Dr Fauci recently, he does not believe in having lock downs and closures, but he emphasizes mask wearing, social distancing, avoiding gatherings outside our own bubbles for a while until vaccines are available. However, it seems that people want to have it all. No mask wearing, gatherings (large or small), no lock downs, etc... Well, that's why we are in this mess. I understand that Covid fatigue is hard to handle, but for God's sake, we are close to the finish line. Just a few more months until we get the vaccines. Please follow the rules for a bit longer.

I'm guessing the offenders were given citations, and that is how their identity is garnered. We have had recorded good results when DUI(s) are reported, and not as forgiving those are reported in our newspaper.

Halloween just about everyone partied for Halloween. About week after Halloween we had a huge uptick of cases. Then came the shutdowns again. Due to that and a lot of people got their last hurrahs in the weekend before shutdowns again on Nov. 18. Then Thanksgiving and a lot were saying my rights and my family, along with the local police saying they won’t enforce anything if people gather higher than the mandate.

Agree with @disneypharm here..... this is not the case at all. Those countries that had a serious lockdown of the ENTIRE country in their jurisdiction saw success in beating this back,and that includes actual enforcement (best they could) of the rules for safety...this meant everyone living in those places had to adhere or be in trouble with the law,for the safety of others.
The US,and other paces had no such policy in place. A state by state desperation of trying to make rules for safety completely failed our country as a whole, b/c we could always,and continue to, ***travel around and about our country and to other countries*** at will.This meant that no matter how strict NY state was, anyone from anywhere could break that lockdown,and bring the virus with them,to the tune of millions of people doing just that. SO no, we did NOT clearly have a plan in place at all to try and stop this thing,as a whole. Those countries that did have a plan from the start, fared MUCH better than we are currently faring. No one (sadly,horribly) is exempt from this pandemic anywhere, but those countriesthat REALLY tried on a national level,have clearly mitigated some of the awful effects. It's clear in the numbers....(try the John Hopkins daily update for global numbers and it's clear.)

I agree. We actually did get our numbers down early on because, at that point, people were scared and they actually complied with the measures of mask wearing, distancing, and keeping things closed where people were apt to "gather." Our numbers in VA came down so well after that, that you could see online at least, the counter to it rising up. Saying "nothing works" "restrictions are crazy" and so on. Summer worked out well enough and we remained steady because the weather was so nice that people could stay outside and do stuff without much worry. Over the last 2 weeks, our positivity rate has jumped by about 34% and, for the first time for me, many people in my acquaintance circle, extended family, and coworkers are getting hit with it. It's like it has exploded here although we are nearly as bad as several other states. I really believe that it's because we've essentially gone back to normal (stores are crowded, people are partying, dining was at 100% capacity, and so on).
