Cases rising or dropping by you?

I just read an article about a bunch of lawmakers from California (both parties) all hanging out in Maui at a HUGE conference in a fancy resort to discuss "Coronavirus safety" for their constituents.... sorry but that just about did me in this morning..... :headache: :headache: :headache: (does that cross the no discuss line here? I'm not sure) it was a Beat of Hawaii article....anywayyyyyy.....
Very common right now.

Google "French Laundry" in Google News.

I am not sure what this curfew is going to do. Most places are closed by 10pm and don't open until well after 5am. I know he is trying to lower the numbers and probably throwing everything at the wall to see what works instead of a shut down. I do have to say the mask wearing is back up in my area. It was really bad the week before the new mandate.
I'll go with the other posters and say it's for bars as well. I don't get it, though, because a couple of weeks ago he was saying that it was spreading due to small gatherings...so which is it? Bars or gatherings? And he must not think gyms are an issue, because I read that that was the reason the curfew ends at 5AM. Because people want to go to the gym early in the morning. Okay?

I saw somewhere else that he previously said "no dancing at weddings"...so we are now the town in Footloose.

I agree. I did listen to him talk today while he was at Burke Lakefront this morning. He said the curfew is for everyone and not just on businesses. His hope is that if cops see people hanging out that they will tell them to go home. He said having the curfew would limit the time people would be together. He was also urging people to limit their contact with people by like 20%.

Yes there is no dancing at wedding now. He wants it to be like a restaurant. You have to stay seated and wear a mask when not eating.

He know is saying that he will not shut down bars, restaurants and gyms. He is acting like a parent that threatens punishments for bad behavior but never follows through.

We're going up and fast! Yesterdays 24 hour report was 835 new cases reported. Sadly we went all summer under 250 new cases a day. Our governor still refuses to put in place a mask mandate.

They're 1.5 hours late in updating Ohio's numbers (normally they update daily at 2PM Eastern), but some counties are putting stay-at-home orders into place. Between the delay in numbers and the stay-at-home orders, I'm thinking today's numbers are reeeeaally bad.

I am thinking the same thing. My kids school district and the district that my mom teaches in both have not updated their numbers either today. Normally it is either done throughout the day or by the end of the school day. I really feel that this is not good.

My county is now under a stay at home advisory.

The headlines all screamed CALIFORNIA But the reality is it was lawmakers from at least 3 different states including Texas and Washington. But why hire headline writers that tell the truth when they can punch on their favorite punching bag. And according to the organizers, the theme was not coronavirus safety, but rather "How to reopen states' economies amid the public health crisis." Ie how to lobby to open everything up. And many that attended were of course those that wanted to open everything up. But I guess the rules don't apply to them. Thankfully, that sentiment has not prevailed in the state.

Rhode Island hit an all time high today with over 1300 cases. For a state so small, these numbers are bad.

I read a theory on Reddit that the system can't recognize case numbers that are 5 digits...so clearly we have 10K cases and the website glitched and couldn't handle it. It's Y2K all over again!

I think you and I must live in the same area. Stay safe!!
I don't think it should have made me laugh but for whatever reason your comment did :)
He just doesn't want us to 🎶 kick off our Sunday shoes 🎶 (or our masks)

I think Michigan has everyone beat according to a news site I went to earlier. It's like a freaking horse race!!

All I can think of is that this it targeted towards bars. And with college students coming home for winter breaks, he's probably trying to discourage late nights at bars, without completed shutting down restaurants. Not sure if it will have much overall effect, however?

There's a story here in Orlando that many bars around UCF in the last week were found to not require masks, not limiting capacity, and no distancing.

There are almost 8,000 new cases reported in Florida today, almost 18,000 people in this state have died and we have more than 900,000 infections. But come on down, we're open for business. o_O

I had a DVC night booked at BWV on Monday to use expiring points. We didn't even go to the room. We drove to BWV, took a walk on the Boardwalk, which was mostly empty, but people were walking around not wearing masks. Took the bus (we were alone, so no problem there) to the Magic Kingdom. MK looks okay until you get behind the castle - was a total zoo, and again, we saw at least 30 people walking around eating, drinking, not wearing masks and nobody telling them to put them on. The lines are winding around buildings and you almost can't avoid getting within 6 feet of people. We were there long enough to take a walk around the kingdom and then left. I'm staying out of there until at least January.

That is interesting. I hope it is not that high. It does sound like we are close.

My work just went back to fully remote. We were only going in once a week before. Our school district is fully remote next week but that is it right now. Numbers were not updated today on our dash board and I am thinking a full remote until January is going happen.

I read today that Loving County in West Texas was the last county on the mainland US that never had cases. That changed and they now have 3. Loving County only has 169 residents. :(

I think a few of us are from the same area. My DS10 district is also remote next week now, so I’m guessing we may be the same district. I am also anticipating them following the other districts today and going remote until January. He (superintendent ) must want to watch numbers the next few days.

DS10 hates the virtual days, so that would be a struggle since my school (private) isn’t going to close regardless of what happens. Sigh.

Our school district recently released a survey data on how families wanted to proceed with their children going back into classrooms next year.
