Cases rising or dropping by you?

The persons of higher education believe in the science ,they are making a sound choice for students and faculty whose attendance will be for an extended period of time, weeks into months. The other group does not want to acknowledge anything scientific.

People in higher education also have income. Some of them may be talking about having some furlough days but they still have jobs. There's a lot of people who don't have income right now.

We have had a bad few days in Victoria, with 25 new cases today (there was only 1 other case in the entire country). There are serious fears we are headed for a second wave so they are re-tightening some restrictions. We will only be allowed 5 guests per household and 10 at outdoor gatherings. Restaurants were meant to be allowed 50 patrons from Monday but it will remain at 20. Gyms and cinemas will still be allowed to open on Monday as planned but will be limited to 20 patrons. Apparently some people who have been diagnosed or are otherwise meant to be self-isolating haven’t been doing so, with reports that some even went to work, so the government is introducing a $1,500 payment to ensure they can afford to do so and have said they might even get the police to do checks. Hopefully these measures will be enough and get things back under control!

Exploding here in south central Washington. We are still in phase one. ICU is full for our county. County over has maxed out their regional hospital and have sent 16 to Seattle. Really worried about this weekend. We started to rise thanks to Mothers Day. Now Father’s Day and finally Summer weather are going to be another bad combination.

My son is a firefighter in Yakima County, WA. They are definitely having a very significant COVID outbreak. I read the hospital is full and they are having to transport outside of the county. It’s a dire situation for anyone who works or lives there.

I have no idea. I don’t keep up with it. Don’t watch the news. Life goes on. We can’t keep everything closed. Just washing my hands and trying to be smart about things.

Apple disagrees. If cases go up fast in your state, they’ll close their stores. The one by me closed.

I pay attention mostly because I think it's reasonably important to be aware when local hospitals are full or nearly so.

Like most other folks, I wear a mask, wash my hands and socially distance.

AZ cases going through the roof.
Yuma....out in the middle of nowhere USA, but first portal for Mexico at three border openings, has declared mandatory mask wearing and setting up tent hospitals for the surge. And we have not had any mass gatherings, just a population that had poor pre-health check-ups long before Covid.

My only concern, is that when a new hire is at the glass door of the Cancer center and they don't recognize me, after my last 40 days of treatment, I have to listen to the long list of symptoms.....which means, that I as a sick person have no clue to what symptoms for Covid present, for if I had a symptom, I would stay home and not put the front scrubs at risk. I love my great medical staff and always wave good bye..and just hope they can control themselves when they see folks not wearing masks in the grocery stores....though maybe they do home delivery anyhow.

I get my groceries from Fry's. They are waiving the fee for pickup.

I often wish the virus was visible in the air as it has been depicted, little red spiky things floating around. Politics aside, the amount of wishful/magical thinking might decrease.

No. They'd just create a conspiracy theory of the gubment spray painting the air.

Cases are once again rising slow and steady near me. The state is a different matter. It's starting to increase at an increasing rate.

I like that..."wishful/magical thinking" both sides can fly that banner...very neutral....considering the banners that are flying around in my neighborhood now.

Wow....I consider myself a worldly well read person and that is the first time I saw the word "gubment" I thought it was one of those new TV ad chemicals for fixing everything around the home....wife is trying to fix the leaking above ground pool while I recuperate from radiation and she is throwing everything at the leaks....as seen on TV.

anyhow, according to my 25 year old son, the gubment been spraying the air for decades.

Financial considerations don't change the science though. Educated people know this.

Oh, you must not be hanging out in the right "internet" places. It's widely used. That and 'Merica or "Murica.

oh.....I thought that was how old folks talked about their 1960s Lincoln Mercury cars during the card games stuffing their mouths with salty, high calorie chips.

Here's a good update. AZ is screwed. FL is getting worse.

The good thing about Florida is the average age of those testing positive is relatively low. For example, my county reported 128 new cases yesterday, the average age was 33. So, as long as they stay away from the elderly, we should be okay. However, my county has a lot of senior living facilities. If it gets in there, we are screwed.
