Cases rising or dropping by you?

These increasing numbers in cases and hospitalizations are sad. Just sad. A proportion of these will inevitably end up in deaths.

It doesn’t even take an elementary kid to know that it is much, much easier and cheaper to control this situation through making the right behavioral choices than spending money and time to develop vaccines and therapeutics.
And, increase in testing does not lead to increase in hospitalizations and deaths.

They are rising in my state and the Governor is about to have a COVID press conference in a few minutes. We were under 3 percent for awhile but are over 4 percent now. Our family has been trying to stay home and go to outdoor venues like hiking trails only since March. No traveling. Public schools in our county are virtual until the end of January. It's been difficult. I think we are going to see a big spike after Thanksgiving, too. I'm hoping our numbers decrease between now and Christmas!

Increasing again. I was hoping it would delay a month but it isn't looking that way.

118204 today. A new record.
35 states over 1,000. A record.
21 over 2,000 A record (I think)
7 over 5,000. A record.

Over 1100 deaths today.

Here we haven't seen the latest big surge some of the rest of the country is seeing. But It's holding steady at an unacceptably high rate.

Update: Not going to use another post.
And then beaten a day after, 123,830 and then beaten again the next day 132540
37 states over 1,000 A record.
22 states over 2,000 Definitely a record.
15 states over 3,000. A record (I think)

As we go into the weekend, we should be headed down to next week's low.

In Ohio yesterday we were just shy of 5,000. Earlier on in October we were in the 1,000. We are jumping fast. Just last week we were in the 3,000. The entire state is now in the high incidents category according to the CDC.

garage sale season starting here in Yuma runs thru at least april 1 and some beyond if weather holds in the 90s. Folks conducting the sale were not wearing masks...but folk arriving at garage sales were wearing masks. As the sellers became younger, blended families signs were posted to wear mask upon entry into yard. I was safer at the garage sale then standing in long lines at the grocery store...our Kroger stores either cannot hire or are not stepping up to the plate with more checkers to decrease density of folks checking out of the store. no covid cleaning or materials at door..Whereas Goodwill, give them credit, have a full time cart cleaner, but short on clerks also still have to wait in long lines at Goodwill....the store that hires folks is understaffed.

Western NY here. Our numbers are going up too. We were around 1% all summer. We are now over 3% for the 7 day average, even had 1 day of 5% in our county. Out county government is not giving clear info on where the new cases are coming from. But there are reports some are from youth sports teams traveling out of state (against state regulations). A friend had several extended in law family members infected at a family wedding. Luckily friend had not attended, but her DHs aunt is critically ill & not expected to survive.

My personal observation is many people are slacking on compliance with guidelines. People in the grocery crowd you; coworkers pull their masks down to talk or drag out drinking their coffee; people having gatherings more often & more indoor dining going on. I’m sure it will be getting worse before it gets better.

Accelerating even faster in Wisconsin too. Over 6,000 for the first time yesterday, and shattered it again with over 7,000 today. This is awful. :guilty:

Looking at the rate and where the chart shows right now, I’m going to predict we get to ~160,000 to 170,000 cases per day rate before we start slowing it down.

We've gone from 5% in October to 10% in November here in AZ. Over 5% is considered bad.

Guilford County NC (Think 1.5 hours west of Raleigh)
14 day percent positive- 7%
Nov 3rd percent positive- 8.2%* Nov 3rd is most recent data posted.

6.9% Positive is the data for the entire state. Clearly my county is being hit harder.
