Cars Land & BVS - June 15th!

HydroGuy, you mentioned possible park closure due to capacity on dates that are not blocked for SoCal AP holders. We are there are some of those dates (June 26 - 28). Are there "levels" of capacity closure at Disneyland like there are at Disney World? If so, what are the different levels? I've searched but can't seem to find anything definitive in previous posts. Thanks.
I have never been to DLR on such days but from what I understand it is similar to what you describe for WDW.

I can't tell you the specifics. Maybe someone else can.

Any idea what the height requirements are going to be? I know CA leans towards more thrill ride-ish stuff. I can totally handle the DL coasters, but Mulholland Madness scared me, and I won't even do California Screamin'. Will my 3 yo be able to ride the rides in CarsLand?

I believe RSR is based on the same ride mechanism as Test Track in WDW which has a 40" height requirement.

The new Radiator Spring ride is a mimic of the Test Track ride at Epcot in Walt Disney World and that ride has a 40 inch height restriction. I would assume that RS will have the same height restriction.

Do you think that Buena Vista Ave, the Red Cars, etc will all be done before they oPen Cars Land?

Anybody ever gone the week after Thanksgiving? Wondering about crowds.

I want to plan a trip so bad, but my husband wants to wait until next year (end of May or early June). He's afraid it will be too busy this year with Cars Land opening. I don't want to wait!!!

I wish Disney would officially release something as far as dates. All these rumors are killing me. Mouseplanet reported on Monday that Wikipedia has the opening date for Cars Land as May 6, 2012.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cars_Land

That can be edited by anyone (wikipedia) which its a very unreliable source for most information.....actually I just looked at it and it says summer 2012.

Look at the right hand side of the page (in the box) it has had May 6, 2012 as the opening date for a while. And, yes, wikipedia, can be inaccurate at times, but they do get it right sometimes too. Anyway, I haven't seen anything, even the June dates listed on this thread, confirmed, denied or acknowledged on any Disney blogs, planning sites or entities either. I think it could be May 6 or June 14 or any other date in between those dates. Wish Disney would just put us out of our misery! lol!

I JUST looked at that box and is says Summer 2012 right now. On MousePlanet there was a hint that the reason no one else has released this info was because of a News Embargo. Which if that's true, Al Lutz may be at the bottom of the information food chain now for releasing the date before Disney said it was okay to release.

Well, I just looked and, you are right, they did change it sometime in the last few hours, because for the last few weeks, up until around lunchtime today, it still said May 6, 2012. I wonder if that's when they will start the CM and AP previews? With the Official/Media Event grand opening being on June 14? Wish they would just release the dates . . . .

Sounds more like sour grapes to me. Al scooped 'em... plain and simple.*And I'll trust him over Wikipedia any day.

Sorry to sound stupid, but I've planned at least 20 personal Disney World trips and 5 Disneyland trips, follow a number of Disney blogs and frequent a number of Disney planning sites, and I don't know who Al Lutz is. What's so impressive about his scoop?

Al Lutz is an editorialist with a competing site to DIS. Here is a link to a summary of a recent article of his:

New Al Lutz: CL and BVS to Open in June, LMAUA Updates, Mad T Party

Al has a history of publishing insider info about DLR - many times critical. He was the first to publish news on a number of big issues in recent years.

Agreements between sources and news agencies about timing of info released isn't anything new. Al is the only one that has even hinted about this particular date. Even after the fact other sites like MP aren't saying they are just rumors or jumping on the date bandwagon. Typically MP will add a [rumor] tag to threads about unconfirmed news like Starbucks coming to DTD. The thread about The June 15 opening hasn't been tagged. This leads me to believe that the info is true but other sites had already told Disney they wouldn't release it until x date. If Al released it besides the agreement with Disney I wonder how much pull he will have in getting info in the future.
