Agreements between sources and news agencies about timing of info released isn't anything new. Al is the only one that has even hinted about this particular date. Even after the fact other sites like MP aren't saying they are just rumors or jumping on the date bandwagon. Typically MP will add a [rumor] tag to threads about unconfirmed news like Starbucks coming to DTD. The thread about The June 15 opening hasn't been tagged. This leads me to believe that the info is true but other sites had already told Disney they wouldn't release it until x date. If Al released it besides the agreement with Disney I wonder how much pull he will have in getting info in the future.
I don't believe Disney released the Cars Land opening date to a bunch of fan sites and asked them to hold it until they're ready to release it publicly.
First, one of the unwritten rules of the embargo is that when one person breaks it, the embargo is over. But no one else broke it.
Second, Al makes his trade in getting info from unnamed sources and unofficial channels. Not by cheating off a press release. He has a track record to back that up.
Third, for the very reasons you point out, no one who makes a living off a media relationship violates and embargo agreement and then does so with his or her own name on it.
And fourth, he's not exactly on the best terms with the Disney PR team in the first place. He's an outspoken critic.
