According to Al Lutz on today's MiceAge:

"EDITOR’S NOTE 2/2: The dates for DCA's grand re-opening event have finally been chosen. June 14th will be the media day and private celebrity party, and June 15th will be the official first day of operation for customers. There will only be a handful of days for AP Previews and soft openings for Cars Land in early June, and those dates aren't confirmed yet. June 15th will also kick off DCA's new operating schedule of daily 8AM to 11PM hours through the summer. - Al Lutz"

We are visiting 9-16 so this will be nice that we can end our trip seeing the official opening of Carsland, nice little surprise.

Awesome! I have a week at the Paradise Pier booked starting June 21... will be my first visit to DL, glad I'll be able to see the new stuff too.

This is a mixed blessing for me. I'm excited we'll get to see the new things on our very first DL visit, but I'm afraid of what it wil do to crowds. I imagine it's even more important now that we visit on AP blackout days?

WOOO!

Soft openings won't do much to crowds, right? Or will it? *gulp*

I foresee the big problem being like 'Hey kids, look how fun that would be" As all the rides are going HAHA

Our 11th anniversary is that day. One of our kids has a birthday a few days later. I think we need another DL trip in June!

This is right in the middle of our planned trip *gulp!*
Am I the only one who's worried about the crowds? :scared1:

So does this mean that DCA is closed to the public on the 14th? The 14th is supposed to be a grad night event as well.

We were looking forward to the Matterhorn opening on the 15th.

I'm not sure I'm ready for this. Oh boy.

Its the "official" opening date. I am guessing carsland will be open for public use before that, most likely this is the date they will be doing the grand opening celebration. We will be visiting this week as well and will have to be prepared for some crazy crowds that week.popcorn::

Absolutely!!!!

The media event can be after hours, nothing has been announced about actually closing it the day before. And if this is the case, I can see where they'd cancel that Grad Night.

Nothing is official. This is still a rumor. Disney has not announced anything yet.

We are doing Backstage Magic that week, 14th is DL and 15th is CA, wonder if this opening will impact some of that? I know, too early to tell.

Awesome. We'll be there the end of July. Most likely will be our only trip for a long time so I am glad that we won't miss it.

Off topic: I like your airplane counter. Where did you find it?

If it's like the WOC preview then things will be pretty much like normal during the day and VIP's will start arriving in the evening - at least I'm guessing they would do the Carsland as an evening event - better for scheduling.

And Grad nights are being done differently this year so there isn't the early closing of DL. I expect there will be crowds but if you plan on getting up early hopefully it won't affect your ability to do all you want.

I just hope DCA is much better prepared for this opening than they were for WOC. It was not Disney's finest hour IMO when most CM's had no idea where to direct people.

GB thanks for sharing this info. :)

You're welcome, Trey. And everyone else.

I actually checked the topic list twice to confirm that you didn't already post something about it. And then I pinched myself :rotfl2:

Count me in the mixed blessing crowd. Wanted to see carsland/use ap/use points so made my june 17-19 reservation but was hoping it wouldn't be the first weekend.

At least if we decide not to go and rent out our VGC studio reservation, it just got a lot more valuable!

Really excited for this, we are moving into a house we are building July 1st and it was just gonna be tough to make this work unless June, so :cool1:

Any history on how they do the AP previews? I have heard about a lottery or is everyone invited?
