Apparently this was announced at the 1st quarter call. I didn't hear it myself, but read it at the link below:

While I am in the minority in actually liking "Cars", I am annoyed at Pixar for having 2010 be a "Toy Story" sequel, and 2011 be a "Cars" sequel. I want original content from Pixar, the best studio in the business. If, as the article speculates, this leads to "The Bear and the Bow" getting pushed back, is a major negative in my eyes.

I also wonder if it is more due to delays in DCA "Cars-land"...I was always assuming they were going to open both the movie and the park at a very similar time-frame.

UPDATE: Apparently the original change of date was mis-heard. It was "summer 2011" NOT "december 2011". So, it is staying put June 24, 2011. Sorry for the bad info!

Yeah, we figured as soon as Disney bought out Pixar there would be sequels all over the place. It was a sad day. We all LOVED Cars though, I must be missing something if we're in the minority! They did so great together, but Pixar kept everything under control so they weren't putting out junk. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, I could live in that place, had all the movies before having kids... but the do focus on the money and have put out some terrible sequels to great movies. Let well enough alone! I'm interested to see how TS3 and Cars 2 turn out, we heard there will be another Monsters Inc too...

Sequels with Pixar don't bother me if they are as awesome as TS2 was. It's the sequels that just drive a franchise into the ground that suck. Or direct to DVD, don't even get me started on those. As long as they keep it at Pixar quality, I'm lookin forward to the sequels.

I agree, but from what I heard the only reason TS2 didn't end up a direct to video piece of junk was that Pixar refused to let their name on something like that... that's what I'm afraid they'll lose since it's all up to Disney now. We are really looking forward to all the sequels, DS6 was a TS fan for 3 years, nothing but TS, finally got Buzz knocked down a notch when Cars came  which opened the door to many other characters too!

Cars = Pixar's worst effort. (Though still better than most DreamWorks garbage)

I am exctied to see another version of Cars.. Loved the last...
And i dont think TS3 looks horrible, so i doubt Cars2 will either....
