We plan on carrying backpacks for video camera, snacks, etc. What do you do with them when you are on the rides? Can you hold them at your feet-I don't want our video camera flying out! Thanks! SO excited!

I carried a small backpack with us on our trip last summer, and it was no problem at all on the rides. I would wrap the straps around one of my legs, and I never lost sight of it.

You will want to think about using something to cover it, though, on any rides where it may get wet. Splash Mountain was really the only one that I had to figure up something to cover it - I just used the park map for that, but on future trips, I brought plastic to place over it, and then, I can just put it in the backpack when I am done.

I was also carrying a WDW water/fan bottle with up, and also wrapped that around my legs. Though I never lost it, I did break it on Rockin Roller Coaster, so next time I know to stick that in the bag as well!

I carried a backpack this year with almost the same contents list - the first time we have every done a backpack. It was really handy, the kid's autograph books were always handy and I didn't have to worry about lugging around the camera cases for our cameras.

Just remember, there are cameras in there you can't set it down hard. DW almost killed our camcorder this way.

I generally either kept it on my lap or down by my feet on the rides. I didn't take it on Kali, or RnR because I didn't think it was a good idea. DW just held onto it then as we were doing the babyswap thing. One thing to think about, if you take it to shows (like the B&TB show at MGM) don't put it on the ground. We almost had it flooded when a kid behind us dropped his soda. It was an accident of course, but would have soaked the autograph books for sure.

Good luck!

That's exactly where we put ours. I usually put my foot through one of the straps so there is no way I can jump out in a hurry and forget it. And, it adds a bit of security because I know it's not going to get tossed out.

Did you ask for a new one? DD broke one of ours also right in front of a cart with a bunch of them and the CM replaced it no questions asked. We commented that it was our fault it was broken and they didn't have to replace it. He implied that while it isn't a written policy, Disney wants you to be happy with their products even if it was an 'accident'.

Of course, they were happier with you cause you most likely bought a replacement. :)
