CarMax Who has bought there

I am trying to figure out where to buy my next car and am exhausted of having to deal with a lot of the games played at new car dealers. I also am thinking that used is the way to go and noticed CarMax and their "No Haggle" policy.

Their inventory and prices look pretty good and the No Haggle Aspect, if prices are good is also appealing. Has anyone bought their cars through them and what did you think? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Do you think they are reputable from a getting a lemon of a used car perspective?

I LOVE Carmax!!! I have purchased three cars from them and never had any problems. When I bought my first car, I was in my 20's and started at the dealerships in town. I hated their sleazy tactics, like asking thier manager what cars to show me when I came in asking about a specific type of car. I really hated dealing with those guys. Then I went to Carmax where the price was right there for all to see and I could test drive anything I wanted. This was probably 16 years ago.

Since then, I bought a second car after my car was totaled in an accident. My dh is still driving that car (Honda crv purchased with 10k miles on it but still under manuf. Warranty). When we needed a bigger car, after having kids we purchased my Mazda MPV at Carmax, too.

Whenever it's time for a new car, I'm going back again. You can look up their inventory on line and compare cars. If the car you want is at another location, they can transport it to you.

They alsontake care of all the licensing requirements. They can transfer license plates from one car to another through some hookup to the DMV computers. It's truly one stop does it all

We purchased a car there and also sold a car to them (did not buy on at that time). Both times we had good experiences.

One thing though we did have our financing already set up through our credit union, so we were in and out in about an hour for the whole process of test driving to getting the keys in my hand. They have it set up to be a quick process. Either you can buy the car at their price or not. They do try to sell you extended warranties and other extras for the car, but we nixed those real quick and moved into the paying part.

My father worked in the car business my entire life, usually in large dealerships, so I knew very well how it works. However, I found the no haggling aspect of CarMax to be a nice change. I found the car online in another city, they brought it to my local store and I knew how much it was before I got there and knew it was a good price.

The car we bought we kept for about a year until we needed a bigger car and they did not have what I was looking for or I would have bought it from them.

We have bought several cars from CarMax and have never had a bad experience. We had a full size van one time that we bought there and did not realize until several months later that there was a huge (and I do mean huge) rust spot on the roof. (I saw it when looking out of an upstairs window) and they stood behind it and had it repaired and painted at the body shop of our choice. Would I again? Yes!

I know many people who swear by Carmax. I would definitely buy a car there!

Never have bought from them but did sell a car to them several years ago. Everything went extremely smoothly and was very impressed with the whole transaction. I also definitely got more for the car from them than if I had been trading it with any other car dealer.

I love Carmax! I purchased my car from them 6 months ago and everything went smoothly. What i like even more is if they dont have the exact car you want they can look online and get it from other states if needed.

I have bought 4 cars from them. I loved them so much that i worked there for a while part time in the evenings selling cars. I will say you will pay a little more than other places but I don't mind because they stand behind their product.

I bought a car from CarMax this summer and LOVED it. The process is simple. They took care of a couple of minor problems very promptly. Very pleased with them!!

My DH and I both drive carmax cars and love them. My husband drives a lexus, he got a two year old one for 50% the price of a new one. I drive a suburban. Both cars looked brand new when we got them. I love being able to search their nationwide database to get excactly what you want!

Sounds like you've gotten unanimous enthusiasm but I'll chime in. We bought a car from CarMax in 2002 when we were living in Richmond, VA and were very pleased with the experience. We would even consider buying through them again the next time we need a used car (they have a location in Connecticut or we could go down to VA and visit friends while getting the car).

We bought a two year old Mazda Protege and got the extended warranty through them and it went very smoothly. I wish we still had that car!

Also when we went back to look at it the day after we first checked it out, the price had actually gone DOWN! How often do you hear that?

We purchased two cars at Carmax in the last three years. The cars were in great condition and we have had no problems with them. I would recommend them to anyone. My car was less than a year old and I got a great discount on it.

We bought 2 cars from Carmax at the same time. We got the Nissan Maxima home and realized that it had a faint smoke smell, and they got us another one just like it with 1000 less miles. We loved our Carmax experience so much that we went home and bought Carmax stock. That stock has been very good to us over the years!

I have bought and sold my last 2 cars there. I love them! Very easy and painless.

I have moved and the nearest Car Max is almost 2 hours away but I would still go there for my new car.

Here is another BIG for Carmax. We have gotten 2 cars from them and it was sooooo easy. Would highly recommend them!
