Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Thanks Eric and Safetymom,
I think what I would prefer most is a N/S, Non-handicapped accessible room. It is just myself and my DD10 (DH can't come on this trip). We don't mind walking (love it), so location isn't that important. I Like the color combo of Jamaica though! ;) Are all king rooms designated Handicapped acc.? When I booked, king rooms were all that were available anywhere. CRO doesn't seem as well informed as they used to be, so I was not able to get much info.
Any suggestions?
Deb

Stayed in Jamaica Section 46 room 4618 first floor. Nice location, not too far from the bridge and not far from the Bus stop. So glad they put refrigerators back in the room, makes it very convienent. :thumbsup2 Very quiet area, wasn't near the cheer leaders, thank heavens. ;) One confusing thing, was getting to the room from the Check-in section. The young lady at check in told me to wait out the side door for the "internal Bus." I went out there and saw about 4 small vans parked there. No-one was around, and one pulled up to let some people and thier luggage out. Than, he got into the van and took off. Meanwhile, I am still standing there wondering WHAT was up? :confused3 Finally, after about 10 min, a nice young man came by, and asked why I was standing there. I explained to him that I was waiting for the "interanl Bus" to take me to my room. he politely told me, that is not where it is, its around the corner. :confused3 I said then WHY did the check in girl tell me to stand here? :confused3 With that, he asked where I was going and I told him Jamaica 46 and he "offered" to drive me over there, luggage and all. :yay:

We are a party of 10 in 3 rooms. We would prefer Martinque with a pool view. What are we best requesting water view or perferred? At the moment we have paid for waterview. :Pinkbounc

Thanks, Maria

Martinique is a preferred location so you will need to see if they will switch your reservation to preferred and not water view. Personally paying for a water view is not worth it. Since you have no balcony it is hard to see the water from your room.

Just curious about the size of the CBR rooms. The 2006 Unofficial Guide says 314 square feet, as do several travel agency web sites. But wdwinfo, Intercot, and Mouseplanet say 340 square feet. Allears doesn't say.

Orlando citysearch says "typically 400"! Do I hear 450?

I know the generally consensus on this thread is 340, but would anyone be able to set the record straight?

Thanks.

just booked CBR for March 2-7 requested Jamaica?? How is it?? close to lobby and busses???

Is Martinique the main pool at this resort? We are going Mar 4th through the 9th, so I may try to switch to another moderate if that is the case??

Jamaica is a great location...my favorite at the resort. The lobby aka the Custom House is closest to Barbados. Other than when checking in and out I have never needed to go back to the Custom House. But, if you do need to go to the Custom House for anything CBR has an internal resort shuttle that circles the entire resort...you would just need to hop off at Barbados and walk across the street (there is a path around the resort you could use as well.)

Each Island including Old Port Royale (Food Court, Main Pool, Shops) has its own bus stop. Here is a link from Safetymom's website for CBR so you can get a better idea:

Martinique is not the main pool for the resort. The main pool with slide at CBR is located at Old Port Royale. Each one of the Islands has its own quiet pool (6 total). CBR also has a small kiddie pool by the main pool and one hot tub (also by the main pool).

You can always call back on another day to confirm as well.

Here is the link to the on-line version of the WDW Vacation Planning Video: click here. Once you’re on that webpage, click on the RESORTS button. The webpage will rearrange itself and some new buttons regarding the Resorts will appear. Put your mouse over the Disney Moderate Resorts Overview entry and select “Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.” A video window will open and the Caribbean Beach Resort video will begin to play.

It’s a nice way to experience a little bit of Disney magic without leaving the comfort of your home. ;)

Just read this on Mouseplanets WDW Update and thought people might like to know:

Caribbean Beach newest site for bass fishing

Walt Disney World visitors will have yet another location to try their hand at bass fishing next month. In mid-March, Disney will begin running private fishing excursions on tournament-style Nitro bass boats on Barefoot Bay at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The boats can accommodate one or two guests, along with a Disney bass guide.

The catch-and-release excursions cost $200-$230, depending on the time of the trip, which includes the boat, guide and equipment for one or two guests. For information or reservations, you can call 407-WDW-BASS (407-939-2277).

There's been a lot of questions about the fridge in CBR, however is there a grocery store near by?

First trip to WDW 5/28

I just booked four nights at CBR for Dec, 2006. My DD loved the pictures of this resort over all the Deluxes, so this is the spot of the first Mom and Daughter visit to the World.

We have never stayed on site before, so this will probably feel "deluxe" to us. I have a few questions though.

Do the cheerleaders from Pop Warner also stay at CBR? I know they are at the values and I think POFQ.

If they do overflow to CBR, are they generally in the preferred rooms? (I have booked a preferred room)

I read on another site to figure 45 minutes to get to a park. Is this true?
We plan on going to MGM, MK and Epcot. (I am a big fan of being the first one at the parks).

The map link says that the buses start running 30 minutes before park opening, so if it truly takes 45 minutes, we will be arriving 15 minutes after opening amid the throngs. Uck.

Can you rent a car from the resort? How much? Would anyone recommend renting a car maybe on the days you want to go to MK, which is farthest away?

Finally, if we do CM, how long would the trip be to take the bus to MK and then grab the monorail over?

Thanks for all your help!

I don't know, but I would imagine there is a possiblity

I would assume they go with the cheapest room rate available making it a standrad view non preferred.

I wouldn't say 45 minutes actual bus time, but I would be at the bus stop 30-45 minutes before park opening if you want to see the opening show at the theme park.

They start running way before that. I believe they start 1 hour to an hour and half before park opening becuase of the charchter breakfasts and tours that are going on. I have taken two tours and had no problems catching a bus early.

You can't rent a car from CBR directly you can rent a car from the Swan/Dolphin or the Car Care Center at the MK. THey will have a shuttle come and pick you up to go and get your car. I the two car rental companines are Alamo and National. There are other car rental places in other hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd as well. As far as cost you would have to figure that out yourself with the companies websites. I have never had a bus problem when using CBR transportation....MK is not that far away from CBR either it takes maybe 10 minutes to get there once you leave the resort.

I would plan on 45 minutes. You will have to catch the bus to MK then get off the bus and walk to the other side of the MK entrance to catch the resort monorail.
