The walk around the lake was nice and not a huge distance from any of the villages except Trinidad South.

I enjoyed the walk around the lake too when we were there in April. I would wake up long before my two sons, fill my mug with coffee at OPR, and walk the Promenade all the way around... it was a great way to start the day. I know for some the walking might not be ideal, but I figure for us we're walking all day in the parks, what's a few more steps?! And it's beautiful!

I've booked a preferred room for December 2005. When I booked I'm quite sure I asked for a Non-smoking room and a crib. However, I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the paperwork I received from WDW travel.

Should I call to confirm or just wait until check-in?

Also - I want a preferred room but would also like a water view as well. Is this something I should request through CRO or just wait until check-in?

Just two more questions:

Are bed rails available from Housekeeping?
Is the crib extra or provided free?

I'm getting super excited about my upcoming trip.
TIA

A.

All your requests will not be noted on your paper confirmation but they are in your reservation.

As far as water view that is a paid category so it depends if others have paid for it. Yes you paid extra for a preferred building so I would put it as a request. Water view is not worth the extra money in my opinion. Some of the water views are quite creative. From most rooms it is hard to see the view from inside the room. A water view could also be a view of a quiet pool.

All the rooms in the preferred section are non smoking.

Thanks so Much! You have an amazing wealth of knowledge about CBR. We are so lucky to have you here on the DIS

Do you or does anyone know if housekeeping has bedrails?

You are welcome. CBR if you couldn't tell is my favorite resort. :) I think others have reported being able to get bed rails.

The one and only complain I have about CBR is the bed posts at the bottom of the beds! I came home with a nice bruise on my thigh from walking into the darn things each time going around the bed! :rotfl2:

When our daughter was younger, we just asked for bedrails when we checked in at CBR. They were delivered to our room shortly afterwards. Theyw ere the blue & white ones (sorry, don't remember the brand - Safety First?) that expand.

Hi - My first post on DIS- First thanks for all the great info on CBR!! We are booked for May 06 for 10 nights. :cool1: :cool1:

The only question I have not been able to find out here is how can we get to Seaworld from CBR?

Using ME and from what it sounds Disney Transportation from CBR is fantastic.

So do I need to rent a car for one day? or are there alternative shuttles? Is a taxi too expensive compared to renting a car?

Pros and cons of each option would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the help - dd(5) is ga ga over killer whales ( I've seen free willy about 80 times ) so Shamu is an absolute must do.

I have used Mears and they are great---$14 per person round trip--just call and they will come pick you and your family up and deliver you to Sea World and then just call them about 2 hours before you are ready to leave the park and they will be there to get you to return to the CBR---have a great trip!!!

We'll be going to CBR for the first time in 8 short day! Woo Hoo! We are excited. I have a question: we booked a preferred room to be close to OPR and a N/S room due to asthma. Then we changed the length of time our trip was going to be and got new confirmation papers about it. I was just getting it all together today and looking at it when I noticed that these confirmation papers do not say anything about N/S. They do say preferred water view. I booked a preferred room for location not water view. Will this make a difference at check in?

My confirmation papers have always said N/S, so I think that when we changed the length of time we were staying they messed up the ressie! I guess I should just get offline and call CRO, huh?

I would call reservations just to make sure. I am not aware of any smoking rooms in the preferred villages.

safetymom ~ aren't there preferred rooms in all the villages since they consider water view to be a preferred room? Isn't there a water view of some type from every village?

I really hope that they tell me it is an oversight that they didn't put N/S and that they changed my preferred room to a preferred water view. I will be upset if I end up out in that far village in a room looking out at a pool!

No the preferred rooms are only in Trinidad North and Martinique. Water view is a different category and could be anywhere in the resort. Just make sure when you call that they have you down for a preferred location and not a water view. If they upgrade you to a water view in a preferred location that would be ok. Personally water view isn't worth the money but a preferred location is.

We were in building 33 in Trinidad and did not think this was by far a preffered location we were away from the main pool and was a good walk when you are cold getting out of the pool. I am curious to know if that was really a preffered room that I paid extra for. I anyone knows please post. Thank you.

Preferred locations
Martinique it will be buildings 24, 25, 26. In Trinidad North it will be 31,32,33. The additional charge will be $15 per night.

Added bonus was being able to see Wishes and Illuminations fireworks from the balcony..

Wow that sounds great!!! We will be staying at CBR but have no idea where we will be put (didn't request preferred location).

We were trying to figure out how we could fit Illuminations into our "plan" but it was turning out to be tricky and we have so many late nights planned that I was hoping that we could have one where we didn't have to stay out so late.

Do you think that you can see Illuminations well enough from anywhere at the resort? Or is there somewhere we can go if we are not with a "Room View"?

You can see Illuminations very well (the high ones) from the beach at Martinique. It is great to sit there or in the hammock and watch the fireworks. If you are in the parking lot at the Customs house you can see some of the lower fireworks. It's a great way to relax and see the fireworks from the beach.

We stayed in Trinidad South, room 3405. I requested this island after reading all of the comments on this and the original CBR thread, due to the fact we were only in our room at night to sleep, and this seemed like the most quiet place to accomplish that, and I was right. It seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves, even though we always saw other people around the island and at the bus stop. Bus service was fantastic, only once did we wait over 10 minutes for a bus, most time the wait was under 5 minutes. Having weather in the mid 70's each day was an added bonus to our trip. The walk to Old Port Royale was a leisurely 10 minute stroll. They also have an internal bus which runs from 6:30am to 11pm, which we took advantage of at the end of the day to refill our mugs. We will definitely return to CBR sometime in the not so distance future to enjoy this wonderful resort again.

We have a standard room reservation.... 2 adults, 4 yr old and 17 mth old. I am now a smidge confused as to which building we should try to get when we get there.

Our plan is to spend most of the time at the parks - we'll have to play it by ear though, with the 2 little ones. I'd like to be able to see Illuminations and it would be ideal if we could see it from our room. I'm thinking I'd like to have a first floor room. We will be brining the baby monitor with us since the kids will likely crash (and I mean crash :goodvibes ) much earlier than us. DH and I would like to be able to sit outside of our room at night.

Any idea where we should try to get our room?

Also, I just started reading about the new bus system set up for CBR - so I gather the bummer of having a long walk from some areas is no longer since you don't have to walk far within the resort in order to leave or come back at night?

With the baby and baby monitor, your best best is probably to get a 1st floor courtyard room -- then you can sit outside but be close enough to the room that the monitor still works.

It's been a while since I had little ones, but if the monitor will transmit far enough (50 ft maybe?) you would really enjoy a room overlooking the Martinique Beach, where you can see Illuminations fireworks. Of course, that's a preferred section which costs more.

Others may have better suggestions for you in the standard areas.

Have fun!
