Welcome home Kimber!!! Please let us know when you post your pictures! Thanks for the report!

Hi Safetymom,
When I was at CBR, OPR had tiny wires going from OPR to...um...I forget what building, maybe that little bar stand. I assumed they were possibly for future decorations for Xmas but after looking at your pics, it looks like they are year-round. What are they? They look to flimsy to be supporting anything.

Hope the room went well!
How's Orlando?

FINALLY!!! My son is so eager (no more than I). We leave Xmas Day for the Car. Beach Res. Any final tips? We requested Martinique 24,25,26 9 months ago, and kept calling to see if we get 1 of those buildings, but they still would not 'guarantee' anything. I hope we are happy when we get there........................Happy Holidays......:earsboy:

Christmas at CBR - wonderful!
Just wanted to check in and say Happy New Year. We got back yesterday after being up for 26 long hours! The joys of transAtlantic travel.

Our stay - Dec 23rd - 31st at CBR.
Building/village - Martinique #21 upper level- liked the location, took about 7 minutes to walk to the food court past the lake. Very quiet too, we couldn't believe such a large resort could be so relaxing.

We arrived at 10.45pm on Dec 23rd. From leaving our house to waiting at airports and connecting flights, we had been out of bed for 22 hours and were exhausted. I was convinced we were going to be placed in Trinidad South which I really didn't want but it didn't happen! Check in was fast and efficient. Our bell hop Matt was friendly and chatty as he drove us to our room, a really nice start to our Disney Christmas.

The room was much larger than we expected, HUGE compared to many UK hotel rooms. Very clean with lots of towels. Coffee maker and iron/ironing board included.

We used the food court for breakfast a few times. The breakfast platter from the pizza place were good, big and filling. Mickey waffles were tasty but overpriced IMO. We ought refillable mugs and used them frequently throughout our stay.
Hours of business - 6.30am to 11pm. 11pm was a little early in my opinion as I occasionally could have used a snack after being out all day. Probably I'm just being picky though.

On Christmas morning we found a gift bag hanging on our door containing a very cute Mickey Christmas card and sweets (candy) which was a nice touch.

Our mousekeeper was great although I can't recall her name! We met her a couple of times and she was always very pleasant. The room was always spotless and I've never seen so many towels in one room! Just as a matter of interest, sheets are changed every 4th day.

We did get the 'legendary' towel animals on Christmas day. The next day one of them had been positioned on top of our festive flower basket which we had got from the Disney florist. A nice touch which brought us a smile.

Bus service - very fast, never waited more than 10 minutes except once when it was 15 minutes. Usually no more than 5.

Not sure if this post should have been in the FAQ thread but it can be moved if necessary .

We didn't use any of the pools so I can't really comment on those. Any other questions, I will try to answer as best I can.

All in all, we loved CBR and would definitely stay there again. I know some would not like the spread out location but for us it was great.

We were down at CBR for 12/20 - 12/26. I guess I know why we got the good postcard rate - the place appeared to be half empty! The parking lot was definitely half empty, and a lot of rooms looked to be vacant.

We were in Trinidad North (all 3 of our stays at CBR have been in TN), building 33, room 3303 - very close to the loading circle and right behind the bus station. For us, we couldn't have had a better room! Very clean, no problems with the room at all. It is a 1st floor room facing the parking lot, so if you are looking for a really nice view, this isn't the room to request. We were more interested in convenience than a view.

The buses ran very well, and we only had one long wait (20 minutes or so). Most times we weren't waiting for even 5 minutes.

My cell phone worked in the room - Cingular service.

We took our mugs from 2 years ago and used them a few times. There weren't any "mug police", and I noticed there were more than a few folks using the older mugs. Call me a cheapskate or whatever - I'm guilty. I guess I just feel a little justified after seeing the Mickey waffle maker down there for $79, and I just bought the same exact thing at Costco for $29.95. And we just blew over $2,000 at Disney, so I don't think they will miss .50 worth of soft drinks. The food court was never crowded and we only had to wait in line once - behind two other people.

The water cannons at the pool still weren't working, and half of the jets in the hot tub weren't either. The hot tub was only about 3/4's full of water, but still felt good. I promised the kids one night at the pool - be careful of what you promise! Luckily it was close to 50 degrees outside, so it wasn't too bad.

We are looking hard at the Vacation Club, so this may have been our last stay at CBR. If we don't join, we will certainly return - we all really enjoy this resort. Overall, we had another great stay. I was just really surprised at the small crowd at CBR, especially for the week of Christmas. Happy New Year!

I have read most posts of this thread. This is a great thread. It is really helpful. Thanks, safetymom.

I have a question for you guys. I am leaving for CBR next Saturday with DH and DD. We will stay there for 8 nights. This is my first trip to Disney World (maybe the last, because we are coming back to our home country this summer). I want to bring a laptop computer with me. Does anybody know how can I go online with my laptop at CBR and how much it costs? I read somewhere that the telephone fee of Disney resorts is like 79c/minute(?). If I use AOL Dial-up to go online, I have to pay $7.9 for 10 minutes. Is that right?

If it is very expensive, I will leave my laptop at home.

Thanks in advance.;)

depemds on what Internet Service Provider you are using.
I know AOL has access numbers that are local in Orlando/kissimmee.

If you do have AOL ask at the desk for the access number.
In this scanerio the ONLY thing you will be charged for is a
.79 cents call making fee...The actual time spent on the internet there doesnt matter..Provided you are doing the above scanerio

Earthlink and compuserve might have access numbers there.

You are not charged anything other than .79 per call..AS LONG as the call is a LOCAL call.
I used the internet quite a bit in August during the late nights
and only had to pay like 5.00 when we checked out for the calls

IS the AOL dial up u have an Unlimited plan...Meaning you are paying one flat rate for any amount of time?

If so you will NOT be charged .79/min
just .79 for the call connection, period

You won't have a problem using dial up at CBR. It is .75 per call. Call the front desk with your list of dial up numbers and they can tell you which numbers are local.

You are not charged by the minute. My teenage son loved that feature. :)

CAUTION

You can end up being charged a lot of money. Hotel PBX systems with their features don't always behave well with your computer. If, for instance, call waiting is on the line and a call comes in, your online session will be interrupted. If you have your system set up to automatically reconnect (normal) your system will immediately call again adding another .79 on to your bill. It doesn't have to be call waiting. It is any interruption. Talk to the front desk and ask if there are any suggestions for people logging in to AOL.

This is from personal experience. At least it was reimbursable for my business trip...

Hi,
I have a few questions about the CBR. Sorry if they've been asked before, tried to read through all the pages.

1. Does the food court charge 10% like I heard the CS does?

2. Is there a preferred section, like they have at the Value resorts? Is so, what is it? And how much extra per night is it?

Thanks

1. CBR does not charge 10% because they do not seat you or get your drinks. CSR is the only resort that does that.

2. Preferred buildings at CBR in 2004

In Martinique it will be buildings 24, 25, 26. In Trinidad North it will be 31,32,33.

The additional charge will be $10 per night

I am willing to answer FAQ's about the resort. I have been to this resort many, many times. I have also stayed at the other moderates.

I also have a web page with many pictures of CBR. I have more to add from this weekend visit.

So ask away and I will try to help. If I don't know the answer someone else will.

Do any of the corner rooms have a King bed? If so which areas.

Bumping up. We're debating between CBR and Wilderness Lodge and wondering if WL is worth the almost $100 per day (incl. tax) difference.

The WL is a wonderful resort, we have stayed at both resorts. I can only say that if it was just the two of us, I would pick the WL, but if the kids are with us I would choose the CB. The main reason is the food court. The food court at the WL is really just a very nice snack bar. I hope this helps.:wave2:

Are there rooms in CB that offer a view of the Epcot Dome and fireworks? Any suggestions would be dearly appreciated!

Thank you!

No rooms that I am aware allow you to see the Epcot dome. If you sit on the beach at Martinique you can see the Epcot Illuminations fireworks. You may be able to see it from some rooms but the beach is a great viewing area.

Is there anyone back recently that can tell me if the water cannons are working yet? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
