We were at WDW Oct 30-Nov 5. Upon arrival at the resort, we were welcomed and had a CM waiting to check us in. They were informative. Gave us 1st Time to Disney buttons. Made the beginning of out vacation wonderful.
We were in Jamaica 44 which turned out to be a great spot. Our bus stop was close, the walk to the food court and the new pool was quick and easy. We had 3 towel animals waiting on us probably from prior quests. Those were the only ones we had. Mousekeeping was hit or miss. A few times the trash wasn't emptied. But the beds were made and fresh towels everyday but that's about it. No extra perks. I forgot to leave a tip a couple of days and when I did remember to leave one that's when the trash started not being taken out. Go figure...
The room was the older one with storage under the beds. No flat screen TV. The carpet could have used a good cleaning. The shower looked like it had been redone recently. It was really nice. However, the shower curtain needed to be cleaned.
But overall we liked it and would stay again. The rooms are nice standard hotel rooms with no frills except a small fridge. The other amenities on the resort are very nice and make the resort.
The buses, this became a joke for us, everytime we would head out for the bus stop, we could see the bus we would want was pulling away. So we'd have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. So make sure you plan EXTRA time for the buses/walking to your destination. I did like the fact of not driving and having to know the directions but the convenience of a car would have been nice. And Jamaica was also the first stop for everything except Magic Kingdom which was also a nice bonus. The buses back from the parks were great. We only had to stand in line twice and that was right after the fireworks.
My one pet peeve with the bus system are the "disabled". Not the disabled themselves, but ALL of their family members having priority to load the bus before everyone else that has been standing in line for 20 minutes. We had been waiting one night in the longest line we had during our visit. A lady in a wheel chair who openly said I feel bad for getting in front of everyone, with her brother pushing her, proceeded to the front. Then came her husband, her sister in-law, his or her parents, some more relatives. In all it was about 12 people. I can see 2 people may have been needed to help out but all 12? Sorry I know that probably belongs on another board.
When we went to check out at CBR, there were CMs everywhere talking in groups but not one would acknowledge me until I said excuse me I need to check out. At the end of our trip we did have a situation that needed CBR management assistance, and they didn't help us out at all. Which I thought was rude considering we had just spent a load of money at their resort.
However we liked the resort and would probably stay there again. We would just do things differently. It was a great first time learning experience and we had a blast at WDW. Now back to the laundry.
