Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

I expect to pay about $225 a night for a preferred room Easter 2010.
But at least $100 less than a deluxe.

Trying to eat at Old Port Royale was not very relaxing. If you happened to go in there when no one else was in there, it was fine. Otherwise, it was loud, the lines were long, and it was general bedlam in there. The CM's were hit and miss as far as friendly was concerned. I can't really fault them for it though, because we saw soooo many guests being so rude to the poor people trying to help them. Not to mention just rude in general.

Note to people, you may think your kids are adorable. I, however, am trying desperately to keep my tired 2 year old in check. Try it sometime.

wait time, but really....some people are just so rude about it.

The new pool is amazing.

All in all, we found the resort to be charming, although our room was in need of a really good scrubbing. I loved the theme and there was a lot of attention to detail. While we were there, we had dinner at Ohana's and fell in love with the Poly, so we plan on staying there next time, but I wouldn't avoid CBR in the future.
We just got back from a 7 night stay last night. (Going to do a little report with pics soon). Had to laugh about your "rude" comments, and couldn't agree more. I have two kids that drove me crazy at times, and I try to keep them in line as well. Some people seem to not care :rolleyes1
We were lucky enough to get a Nemo room, so our room was pretty fresh. Saw a couple things in the bathroom that had me wondering  but I just tried to ignore it.
We are willing to pay for a preferred room.

Could we request Martinique building 24 - or is that too specific ?
I requested Martinique prior to arrival. Upon check in, the CM started telling me I was in Barbados. I politely asked him if I could be in Martinique instead. He checked with some other CM, and came back with Martinique 21 :) So don't forget to ask at check in if you don't get what you want. It never hurts to try :)

A friend of mine just got back from CBR and she was upset because the heater on the brand new pool was broken for her first 4 days of her stay. Has anyone heard about this?

Had a great time! Wish I could have stayed another week, just to relax at CBR!!
Check in went very smooth and quick. Requested Martinique, was going to be placed in Barbados, asked the CM for Martinique instead, and they changed it! :thumbsup2 We were in the furthest building away from OPR in Martinique, but that was OK. I was just glad to have the "fresh" Nemo room.

I found it a little confusing at first, to find the best route to walk to OPR, but by the end of our stay, I was getting the hang of it. I just wish there was another stair case that lead off into the court yard area. That may have made it easier for my easily confused brain. Here is a picture from the courtyard, looking up at our room.

Towel animals were not going to make or break our vacation, but I admit they are fun to come back to after a day at the parks. I imagine this is a standard towel bunny that holds the pen by the phone? Anyway, this was there on arrival and the only one during our stay. Good thing I took a picture of it ;)
DisneyWorld08007.jpg

Had the "corner" type room with the two windows.

I thought the beds were very comfy :)

It was a bit chilly the day we arrived, but the sun felt nice and warm. We took a walk up to the feature pool and it was fairly empty since it wasn't great swimming weather.

Here are a couple of random pics from around the resort..ahhh.....

I thought they did some pretty cute things for the kids on Halloween evening. They had stations set up to make some crafts, decorate cookies, etc.

Donald even showed up for the festivities.

Just a couple F.Y.I.'s: While walking one evening around the resort, it looked as if some rooms in Aruba were getting rehabed. I also noticed the quiet pool in Jamaica was closed.
It had been since 2001 that we have stayed at CBR. I really enjoyed it again :) I cannot comment on the bus system since we rented a car. We ate pizza at OPR once, at lunch time. It wasn't very busy during lunch and the pizza was decent. Other than that, I basically went to OPR just for coffee. We did eat at Shutter's and that was very good!
My kids loved playing on the beaches, and it was fun to sit and relax while they played.
I tried to get a decent sunset pic, but I am not the best photographer

My DS is a huge pirate fanatic, and I was considering booking CBR in June (a pirate room, of course!) I've never been there. In all the guide books, CBR has a low quality and satisfaction rating, however most people on this board seem to like it. Why the negativity in other places? Is there something I should know about? We are driving our car, so buses aren't an issue. My other option is POFQ. What do you think? Thanks.

We have stayed at 3 of the moderates and CBR is the only one we would go back to. Good luck with your decision and enjoy! :goodvibes

A co worker of mine was there at the same time and told me the new pool heater at the main pool was not working. Did you hear that? That could account for the lack of people in the pool.

The size of the resort turns some people off, I believe. I admit, I didn't want to stay in the far away areas either, and I usually don't mind walking. So, I just requested a certain secion ;) We always have a car, and a couple of the mornings, my husband drove up to OPR to get me coffee with cream for my mug. Since you want a pirate room, I believe that is going to be Trinidad South, right? Just know ahead of time that you will not be a walking, hop, skip and a jump away from OPR, but you can drive your car down there if you wish :thumbsup2 Of if you choose to walk, just enjoy the gorgeous scenery!

I have found that, for some reason, a lot of the guidebooks are rather harsh on the CBR. We've stayed there three times and were very satisfied each time. We drive to Disney World and have a car at our disposal but, we hardly ever drive anywhere. The buses were great for us in June. It's so nice to get in an air conditioned bus and let somebody else drive you around "the world".

I think you should go ahead and book a pirate room at the CBR or any room there for that matter. It's a lovely resort. Just look at all the fantastic photos posted here on the thread.

If you have specific questions about the resort, just post them and all of us disers will be glad to answer them.

PlutosFriend: Thanks for posting the gorgeous pictures. It those kind of pictures that keep the CBR magic alive for those of us whose trips are a long way off. I am glad that you were pleased with the resort.

I did not hear that, but I believe it! My kids and dh tried swimming in that on 10/31 and only lasted about 5 minutes! Said it was freezing. We went back to it on Monday and it was much better. I even got in, so you know it was warmer! :lmao:

Yes--we specifically asked for a Nemo king sized room and she told us there were no king rooms refurbished to Nemo. I checked just now with my DH and he confirmed that I didn't misunderstand. We even asked if we could change to a Nemo room with the two beds, but unfortunately, none were available. The room we had was nice, except there was a fairly large red spot on the carpet by the door.

I know this is a couple weeks old but I just got back from staying at CBR 10/26 to 11/4.

There are KING bed rooms refurbed to Nemo. I stayed in one. There are not many right now because only 2 villages have been refurbed. As of 2 days ago they were working on refurbishing Aruba. I took tons of pictures and plan to do a review soon. The resort is beautiful and the Nemo rooms are great!

Hi there. Is there a quiet pool at Jamaica? I can't remember if all the Islands have their own quiet pool. We were there in May '07, stayed in Martinique, preferred room. We'd like to go back May '09 and not pay for the preferred location so I was learning towards Jamaica 45. Thanks for any help.

We love Caribbean Beach !
:dance3:

Are they putting queen beds in CBR? I have seen that somewhere and was told to ask here.

There is a quiet pool at each village in CBR.

I am not aware of them putting queen beds in CBR. The newly refurbished rooms have full size beds.

We just got back last night and we were in Jamaica 44. The quiet Pool in Jamaica was closed for refurbishment. But I believe it's scheduled to reopen sometime this month. But the walk to the main pool was only about 5-10 minutes. We loved Jamaica. It was really quiet. I will write more later after I get the laundry going!:rotfl2:

I was at CBR 10/20 - 10/28 and the whole week the main pool heater wasn't working. We never got to swim in in because it was too cold!! But we did use the hot tub & swam at our private pool in Trinadad North!
