Arrived at CBR this afternoon. Great check in only the cm who checked me in couldn't direct me to our room. We didn't make any request except ground floor. We lucked out and got Jamaica. 4519. We walked to OPR.and had dinner it was great after a long day of no eating and traveling. Then we hit the pool. Our oldest DD was asked to leave the little pool ebb though she was helping her little sister. Then we hit the quite pool so I could do a load of laundry. Now why if we just got here would I need to do laundry? Our 2yo DD vomited all the way here. It wasn't a great way to start a trip. But we made it and were in WDW. EPCOT tomorrow.
weather is great movies r still going on it at the beach.
Now this tired mom is headed to dream land!

Sorry to hear that your 2 year old was sick on the way there. I'm sure that was almost forgotten when you arrived at the gorgeous resort. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your stay.

Anyone staying at CBR this October the week of the 16th to the 22nd ?
I would love to hear how it goes for you if you are. I'm making plans for next year that week and just wondered how crowded ect it is. Just wondering because of the people staying around that area from the convention.

I too am looking forward to this answer! We will be staying there that time next year too!! DH & I were there for our Honeymoon in 2008 aroung this same time. It was great! We loved it! No crowds, weather was awesome, MNSSHP & F&WF!!!! Best time to go! However, I have heard some people saying it is getting more crowded around this time. Also, I'm wondering if it will be more crowded next year due to the Fantasy Land Expansion starting to open!

We enjoyed CBR but will not return because many buildings are far from the main building, Old Port Royale (OPR) that has the only food services, gift shop, and the very nice main pool. We were lucky to get a standard room (Jamaica 45) not far from OPR but I wouldn't take a chance again without booking a preferred room that's closer to OPR. Then again, if spending more money for that, I might as well go deluxe at Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge.

We liked the pool very much. But I'd rather stay at a value resort and use some of the saved money for water park passes.

Transportation
While the buses were fairly prompt 5 - 15 minutes, the buses make a stop at every building before leaving the resort to head to the park. The good part is our building was usually the first drop off and pick up. The down side was when picked up, the bus stopped at all 6 other buildings before leaving the resort and heading to the park. Taxis were prompt when I called.

The Room
Requested 2nd floor, close to Old Port Royald (OPR). Preferred room was not available to book when we changed our reservation. At check-in, was told our room was immediately available in building 13 in Barbados...I begged for a room closer to OPR and said we were willing to wait until as late as 9pm to get in the room. It took 20 minutes for the CM to see what could be done, but did get us in Jamaica Building 45, a corner room 2nd floor partially facing the water. Yeah!!! This was an easy walk over the bridge to the pool and OPR. Carpet tacks were sticking through the carpet (ouch!) but were fixed when I complained. Housekeeping service was great. I hear they might change the beds later this year to queen size. That would give this resort and advantage over the value resorts.

The Pool
Loved the main pool. DS6 had a great time on the pirate pool area where the bucket fills and dumps water and on the 2 slides at the adjacent, larger pool. The pool is especially nice at night and we played some pretend like pirate games in the water. The slides are only open when the lifeguards are on duty 10am-8pm. Never saw the other pools. The bar made some great frozen drinks late at night for us. And the outdoor movies were nice too.

The Food Services
Didn't use this much. Too far to fill our mugs. Just made coffee in the room. Very crowded and not laid out well. Long line just to buy some snacks in the morning. We prefer dining in restaurants and Shutters doesn't look good... nothing special, limited menu, not so great reviews, only open for dinner. With all the people at a moderate resort, it seems they could have a restaurant that's open for lunch and dinner and have a menu that is bigger and appeals to the masses. How many people eat Habanero pepper wings and jerk tuna? The quick service options didn't look so great either.

Check-in and Check Out
Check-in was fine. We got the building we wanted. Checkout was great too. I was worried about how we would get all our luggage there but the CM was prompt at 9:10am and carried all our luggage down to the van and into the Custom House. Very short line (2 people ahead of me) for the airline luggage check-in. We checked out on a Sun. morning... I'm sure it's busier on a Saturday morning.

Yes I think this is a busy week for conventions, I have checked a few weeks ago online to see how much the price would be for this year, just being curious and there were no moderate rooms available for this week :sad2:

First full day down. WOW was it a LONG one. We had an issue w/ our tickets so we walked to the customs house (as told) and after an hour of standing there and our kids getting rather cranky we finally got it taken care of. We only hit the quite pool last night due to being so tired. We were up and hit EPCOT for 9am and didn't return to the room until 8pm. It was a LONG day for our little ones (and the mom and dad!!!). Parks were great my DD and DH got on test track in the afternoon in 5 min. My DD and I got right onto Soarin but then got stuck in the loading area for 45 min due to a "weather" delay. They finally moved us over to the other theatre. So the wait time went way up w/ only one side running.
We headed back to our room to find it very nicely cleaned up after our babies. She even cleaned the little hand prints off all the mirrors. No real issues except there is a gap at the bottom of our door and it doesn't shut real good. You have to really pull it hard and pull up on it to get it to lock. But other than that it's wonderful. It's so much bigger than the Pop. I never was one to really consider the size of a room a factor. But WOW it's great to have room to walk w/ the stroller and pack n play in here. We're having a great time and really loving the resort.
They do still have the movies on the beach. Which my DH and DD said were AWSOME! We are hoping to go see one sometime during our stay. They also were able to see the fireworks from Illuminations on the bridge walking to OPR.
Well I'm off for another LONG day at MK. It's my oldest DD's B-day today and my MIL is coming over to join us. Crystal Palace for breakfast w/ everyone. Then my MIL is taking our DD home w/ her for the night. So dinner @ Boma w/ just DH and our babies.
Any ????? ask away.
Oh we are having issues w/ our internet connection. I'm using the Hotspot on my cell phone. I have to have my phone in just the right spot as well as the laptop. The cell service seems to go in and out around the room.

Glad your having a great time. I had the same problem with my 3g card so I had to go to the courtyard to get on the computer. Wish we were at CBR again but have to wait until next July...

Enjoyed your trip report - wish we were at CBR again.

Hi guys!
We are considering switching from All Star Movies to CBR.
If we requested a King Bed room, is there room for a queen air mattress or only a twin? (We have a queen, would have to buy a twin!) Does anyone have pictures of the king size bed room?
Would you guys recommend we switch from ASMo to CBR? (In your opinion... Is it worth the extra $200 to switch?0
Thanks all!

We had a great time. I do wish we spent more time at the pool. We REALLY like the main pool.

Not sure how many people you are trying to fit... but if you make a request for a king bed room, you might be limiting your choices for room assignment. I would much prefer to be closer to the main pool. We changed from Pop Century to CBR. The CBR rooms were a lot bigger, the pool has slides and hot tubs, the theming is nice (we like the value themes too). But AS Movies was a LOT easier to walk to the bus and catch the bus. The AS Movies buses only stopped at the other 2 AS resorts sometimes. The CBR bus has 7 stops. The food was about the same (not good at either!).

Safetymom or anyone else; can anyone confirm that CBR may be getting Queen size beds? They only recently completed a refurb and I am a bit puzzled as to why they didn't add them then, as they are the largest Mod. but to do so now, just seems like a waste of money?

I'm in favor of Queen size beds and would love to have them, but it just doens't seem right now, does it?

I haven't heard any credible information about CBR getting queen beds. I would think though if the other mods are getting them eventually CBR will too.

You will not be able to get a King bed room. You have too many people for a king bed room. Switching from ASMO to CBR, yes you should do it.

I saw a post somewhere on disboards, possibly this thread, where someone mentioned it. Queen beds is a big advantage of the deluxe resorts for me. It's hard for me to share a full-size bed with anyone and get a good night's sleep.

I was the poster who had the online chat with the Disney castmember who mentioned that the CBR may be getting the queen beds. I haven't been able to get any more information even though I've had a few more online chats. I did talk with a travel agent who went on a training tour of the CBR and several other resorts and she said that there was no mention of CBR getting a refurb. Hopefully, somebody can get more information for all of us who are wondering.

Good Morning to All, have not been on Dis for a while.

Not to be funny or disrespectful to anyone, I know the queen bed post is very important to you guy's but I will sleep on the floor just to go to WDW. :lmao:
