Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Hi all!

I have a question about bringing drinks to the main pool area.

We were thinking of pouring our own alcoholic beverages into opaque plastic cups and bringing them out to the pool --- to save a few $$$.

I know this is probably against the "rules" but I was wondering if people have had experience with this - if a CM will call you out or if they turn a blind eye.

We are not rowdy types, so it's not as if we would be splashing the drinks everywhere or doing anything to call attention to ourselves, we just thought it might be nice to have a pool drink w/o spending $7 a pop. :goodvibes

TIA!

In my experience at various WDW Resorts including CBR as long as you don't have glass it isn't an issue. You can bring drinks from the bar, made in the room and beer/wine purchased at the gift shop and poured in the room. Often my DH will mix a drink in his refillable mug - stays nice and cold!

Thanks for the response guys! I just wanted to make sure...I'd hate to bring all of my drink stuff and then be told that I can't bring my cup into the pool area.

Sounds like we're good! :thumbsup2

We booked our trip last night. 2hr. phone call, probably a $100 charge. 14 of us, 4 rooms, hopfully in Jamacia. Feb. 1-9. Everybody here help convince rest of the family to go here, everybody had different opions were to go but with your help I won!!!! Now we have 90 days to discuss which restaurants to go to. One ? is there live music by the pool?

You will have a great time at CBR. No there is not live music at the pool or bar. Sometimes they have a live group or at least they did outside OPR but not on any type of schedule.

Leaving in 2 weeks. Does anyone know what the crowds will be like. I know it's free dining and they are giving the free upgrades- so I'm just kinda curios as to how busy it will be. Going the week of Aug23-30. Can't wait!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

We are leaving on Aug 12 and from what I am hearing it is no worse than normal and in some cases actually less crowded......i stay away from the EMH and that has served me well over the years. I think if you go that route you will be fine.

Sadly we might be switching from our favorite mod (CBR) to either POR or CSR. The reason is we discovered that the softball and lacrosse teams will be staying at CBR (and All Star Sports) from Feb. 25-April 26th for their spring training. We encountered them this past March and while they weren't really badly behaved they did take over the quiet swimming pools each day and made it uncomfortable to swim for our daughter with autism. So sadly, we might not be staying at CBR next year as planned. Those of you that don't like the sports teams you might want to reconsider CBR during those dates. Why CBR!!!???

Our dates are during this time frame. How big of a deal is this? What is the age group of the people involved in the spring training?

We will be back home @ CBR soon, can't wait :yay::yay::yay:

I was hoping someone could tell me if they are still keeping the pool gate locked on the Trinidad side all of the time?

Can anyone tell me if part of Martinique is not preferred? I just put in a request for a 1st floor room because my mom has had double knee surgery and it is hard for her to do steps...also Martinique so that she may not have to walk quite as far. I hope we get the request. Our room reservation has water view room on it so I have no idea where they will put us.

Martinique is comprised of 6 numbered buildings. 24, 25 and 26 are preferred location. 21, 22 and 23 are NOT preferred location buildings.

Of Martinique's three "standard" buildings, the closest one is 22. You are in luck, as 22 is the only one of the non-preferred location Martinique buildings that has water view rooms.

Aruba 51 and Jamaica 45 also have some water view rooms. Those two buildings and Martinique 22 are pretty much all the same distance from Old Port Royale, and are the 3 closest non-preferred location buildings to OPR.

We are staying at CBR in September with our sons ages 4 and 21 months. We plan on enjoying the parks as well as the resort as we know we can't push the boys too far. One day we plan on just enjoying the resort and chilling out. What are some not to miss things at CBR besides the pool. We definitely plan on using the pool.

Last trip our boys were exhausted by the middle of our trip, and we ended up with a miserable day so this year we plan on just taking it totally easy on one day and sleeping late. (Yes, we will be coming back to the room to nap every day also.)

Thanks in advance for any fun ideas.

Well Castaway Cay comes to mind......Also CBR started a Pirate themed party for kids that you might want to check out. Not sure of the cost but it does last a couple of hours and they also include lunch for the kids....I believe the theme of it is they take a boat out to Castaway Cay on the lookout for buried treasure....From what i have heard it is pretty nice...

Here is a CBR website that gives you everything you need to know about CBR.

Thank you for your response. We were spoiled in June when we were in Martinique 26 with a 30 second walk to OPR. I just hope we get a little bit close to help my mom out with less walking.

Caribbean Cay is the island in the middle of the lake at CBR. Castaway Cay is the private Disney Cruise Line island.

No need to go elsewhere when the first several posts of this thread has great information. Also check here for more information. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/cbr.htm

If you have a question about the resort feel free to ask it in this thread.

AGREED! One of the reasons we tried CBR the first time was all the info in the CBR FAQ thread! There are lots of great comments and advice on this thread -- CBR is a great resort and quickly became our family's favorite!:cool1:
