We have stayed at the Poly the past two trips, but reality is here and I need to regroup for a 3 night stay I am planning in November for my 3 children and myself. DH will be staying home and working.

I thought I was set with CSR (queen beds) in November until I have been reading that many posters say it isn't the real Disney feel. :scared1:

That is major important to me!! I know CBR does the Nemo rooms and I love the Carribean theme, but outside of that do you notice any other Disney things on the property?

Also how long is the slide to the pool? My kids love slides so that is what is important to me.

I think I may be leaning towards CBR now. I just have to sway my kids from that jaguar slide at CSR.:rotfl

Please help! I need to use my pin code soon.

CBR is wonderful. It has that relaxing tropical feel like the Poly. And it definitely has a Disney feel to it with the Nemo and POTC rooms. The children's pool is also pirate ship themed with a tipping bucket and 3 small slides. Being able to watch IllumiNations from a hammock on a white sand beach by the lake is very Disney-ish too! :cloud9:

The main pool is the best! It is zero entry and there are 2 slides to choose from. One is shorter and open and the other is longer and enclosed. I don't know the length of them. I do know that we liked the enclosed/tube-slide at CBR better than the jaguar slide at CSR. We liked all of CBR much more than CSR -- the theme, the rooms, the food court, just more of a Disney feel, and very family friendly! :goodvibes

Good luck!

Thank you!! :worship:What building would I want to request to be near the main pool? We will be going only to the MK and DHS. How long do you allow to wait for buses and time to get there. Thank you so much!!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

You can book a preferred room at CBR and be right next to the food court and pool. But there is an extra charge for that. $25 a night I believe. That would put you in either Martinique or Trinidad North.

We have stayed there twice and both times we were in a standard room and both times we were within about a 3-5 minute walk to the food court, the pool, gift shop, a bus stop, etc. We stayed in Aruba 51 once and Jamaica 45 once. Both are great standard locations to request!

There is a link in my signature to my CBR review if you want to take a look - lots of info & pics in there!

Thank you! The TR with the photos was just what I needed. :thumbsup2

The only time that my family (wife and 5 year old daughter) could go was the week after Easter. I know that this is 'peak season'. I'm really nervous about that. Can someone talk me down/ give me pointers on staying during the busy season? Thanks!

Anyone?

What are your concerns? About the resort? The parks? If you could give us some details we can help you.

The only time I've been to DW was during Thanksgiving a few years back. I've been told repeatedly that peak season is a terrible time to go, but like I said we just don't have any other choice.

Any suggestions on how to avoid long waits or crowds I suppose would be helpful. We are staying at CBR in a preferred room. Haven't gotten an assignment yet. (Not sure we will until we get there I guess.)

We made a reservation for Cinderella's table and the Crystal palace already. Should we make dinner reservations for each night? Is it that crowded?

Also, are fast passes a necessity? What about for kids' rides? We have a five year old daughter.

Make ALL of your ressies asap. You can always cancel as you get closer. Character meals can fill up in an hour's time.

Fast passes are nice when you can use them. My advice have a great touring plan.

Touringplans.com is fantastic for that. It tells you in what order to ride acording to your family type. It tells you when to get the FP... I pay the 8.95 for the year and get crowd calenders, touring plans and all kinds of info. It is so worth it to me. You plug in your dates and it will give you times. They really work. They are statistically proven and updated. I have heard more positives then not. Good luck!

Just booked our trip today for CBR in April - we're all excited!! There is so much wonderful info on this thread - I know it will help us have a great time at the resort. I know I've seen it somewhere, but I couldn't find it - does anyone know what the bus stop pick-up order is? Thanks!

We're going in April too!

I personally would avoid those weeks like the plague. VERY busy. You MUST have all your ADRs early on. You might find some places already booked. Even during non busy times it can be hard to get ADR's for a spot you want by waiting till you get there.
Crowds tend to be awful. No way around waiting for the most part. utilize FP when you can. I know in the past, some parks have closed do to reaching capacity, so I would get there early.
My friend went last year, and she made the best of it, but it was amzingly busy. I saw her pictures, and there is no way I would go with crowds like that. I would be claustrophobic!

I am planning a cruise for Feb 2011 and I was trying to decide what resort to stay in for the 4 nights of "land stay" and after reading this I am convinced that we will stay in the CBR..thanks for great pictures and info....this is why I always come to the dis first...:)

It seems from posts here that the pirate rooms are all in Trinidad South? Does this mean that all of the rooms there are pirate rooms? We are strongly considering CBR for a trip in May. It will be my family (me, DH, DS5, DS3) in one room for 5 nights and my parents in one room for 2 nights. My kids was connecting rooms with their grandparents but I don't think that my parents would be much interested in the pirate room (or the higher rate for it) so was wondering if there is such a thing as a pirate room connecting to a regular room?

Sorry, no. All TS rooms are Pirate.

Well, that's not a pretty picture. How can they not let me into a park that they sold me a ticket for?

I have spent the past couple of days reading as much of this thread as possible - phew !! I would like to send out a huge thanks to those of you who answer the same questions over and over and over again - THANKS !!! :) We will be at CBR for 10 days (May 19th - May 29th), staying in a pirate room. I am SO excited !! My first trip to Disney was 20+ years ago - this past May I went back, with dh and ds6 (their first visit). We stayed at POFQ and loved it - despite the fact that we were there for the "monsoon week". This year, I had a really hard time deciding between CSR and CBR, but the pirate rooms won out in the end. I am HOPING to write a pre-trip and trip report, but I am terrible about starting things and not finishing them, so we'll see how that goes ! :)

They would suggest you go to a different park or wait and try later during the day. During the Christmas season, I had a few friends there who were turned away at the gate. I had pre-warned them that that was a possibility, but it was also the only time that they could go and decided it was worth the risk. I don't care for those odds, so I try very hard to go during non-peak travel times. We have gone the 1st week in Dec. and that's nice and we went during Free Dining in Aug. last year and it was wonderful. I do hope you have a nice trip and like a PP stated, book all your dining reservations now, or you might not get any.

Actually I happen to have an actual package here. It's called Cafe Valet. It says at the bottom, "A Gourmet French Roast Coffee" and on the back touts "100% Arabica coffees including some of the world's finest Columbians."

I never cracked open my little bag of coffee that I brought. I did, however, bring those little individual packs of liquid flavored creamer. Ahhhh. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I was just thinking of what to do about creamer! :woohoo:

Congrats on going back to Disney after more than 20 years! And, you're staying at the CBR! We love the resort.

I'd love it if you started a pre-trip report and report. Don't worry, we wouldn't let you end up not finishing them.:thumbsup2
