Hi all!
Just wanted to know who everyone rents their car from? We usually go with Avis due to the ease of getting to the car right out of the airport. However, wanted to see if anyone else had a better/cheaper option to share :confused3

Thanks as always :worship:

I usually make a list of all the companies at the airport (you are right, it is convienient) and shop the cheapest one. You can use priceline or a similar service, but the odds are you will get an company outside of the airport terminals. Depends how much you value convienience over price.

We usually find that Dollar is cheapest for us, also out of the airport. Occasionally go with Budget. No problems with either of them...

We went to Hawaii in Sept. and booked our rental car through Expedia--it ended up being Budget and we had no problems with them.

ETA: they were right at the airport so very convenient!

I usually start by looking at Expedia, to see what the rates are.

Then I look at my Entertainment book to see what coupons I have - try them individually in each of the company's websites.

Then look at mousesavers to see if there are any other good deals.

If we go at the end of this summer, the rates right now are so high! So I'll blow some of my American Airlines miles on a free car that trip.

I watched Hotwire rates for about 3 weeks, when I saw the Premium cars for $17 and $70 in fees, just a $1 more then the other cars I jumped on it. It was Alamo, right at MCO in and out. The only heads up if you want two drivers, the Hotwire rate will not give you the free insiders club driver. But on the way pulling out, I asked about adding as a driver just in case I did want to go for an offsite run, and the exiting agent added me "just this time".
It was nice to know I could go off and visit friends off site and run to the drug store.
My entire rate was $197 and a Nissan Murano SUV. for a week. They did not have any Ford Marquis or Buick Laccrose, a few Nissan Maxima but that was not was was on the rental agreement.

For weekly rentals, check Costco under the travel link if you are a member. I usually get great prices using Alamo's 25% off plus $30 off per week link. I've paid as little as $35/week plus taxes in the past year for a Subaru Impreza. The rate includes a free second driver.

Another tip on car rentals - some companies like Dollar have a higher price if renting for exactly one week. If you subtract an hour from the return time, the rate can drop as much as 25%. When checking rates, enter a return time that is different from the rental time and see if the rate changes.

The last few times we've been we've rented from Enterprise & Hertz (both at the airport). I usually compare Travelocity to AAA to Costco and pick the best deal. We have used Payless off site before but the shuttle was very quick and on the return DH dropped us off at the airport and then caught up with us after dropping off the car and riding the shuttle back. I agree though the ones at the airport are the nicest most convenient. On a side note, we do bring our own booster for DS5 as the rental companies want what I consider way too much to rent one (and I know where mine's been).

We used Fox and it was fine. They were less than half the price of Alamo but we did need to take a shuttle offsite which is harder with kids or lots of luggage.

Does anyone know if one company is better than another when dealing with younger renters? My dd is getting married in July and she will be 22 as well as her new hubby. They will need a rental and I know that they may have to pay more as younger renters. Anyone have any experience with this?

Hi everyone! We are DVC owners and go to WDW 2-3 times a year. My in-laws live in Clermont so having a rental car is a must for us. I always check the rental car section on the Mousesavers website first for discount codes.www.mousesavers.com I have always been able to rent cheaper with a code from that website through either Dollar or Thrifty. Used Budget one time, have never had a truly bad experience. If you do, let them know right away and they usually take care of it for you! Good luck and be diligent, you can usually find a good rate if you shop around!

:thumbsup2

my sister works for action car rental in Orlando and I just checked with her and they will rent to someone who is 22 and they do charge $10.00 a day more for younger drivers.

You do have to take a bus from the airport to get to them.

Thanks! My dd will actually be flying into Ft. Myers, but that is what I have been finding...that they charge a bit more for under 25. Thanks for checking with your sister:goodvibes

We rent from Alamo. I generally wait until a few days before the trip and check for their last minute deals. It can be a gamble because sometimes cars aren't available this way at OIA but I usually get a great deal. I prepay and check in on line so we just walk to the garage, grab a car and the clerk at the booth on the way out does the paper work.
