I am looking for a rental car for spring break 2013. It looks like ex car rental has premium cars cheaper than any other size. Any thoughts why? Is this an error. At 179$ a week either through Amex, or Orbitz should I book. I cannot get their web page to open it is giving me errors. I have been pricelining for about 2 weeks and have gone up to about 26$ with no luck.

Unfortunately, at this time, you are WAY too far out to get any good deals. You can, of course, start pricing cars now, but I would not, under any circumstances, place a reservation that includes any sort of payment upfront or can't be cancelled. If you're just looking on Alamo or National's websites, you can make a reservation, just to have one in your back pocket...but be prepared to cancel it and make a new reservation when you're about 1-2 months out from the date of travel.

I haven't heard of ex.

I agree with pp, don't pay anything for a car yet. We're looking for a car for April too and I expect prices to drop. FYI, this past April, I booked a car through expedia.ca which was a prepay, but only paid $134 for a week in a compact; best deal around.

TY all.. Last yr a friend tried started booking for spring break in Dec, and never found anything cheaper.. I thought maybe cause it was spring break to start early.. I will wait until Oct/Nov then start :)

I would agree with looking and booking early as long as you can cancel. I have been in situations where the price never went down from my first booking, but I wouldn't prepay unless I was very happy with the price. Usually the price drops.

The airline prices are scary! :scared1: In my case I have always gotten the best price on airline tickets by getting them many months out. Waiting two-three months out never was cheaper.

yes I booked air already over 100$ more per ticket then I ever paid. .. I am very very glad I went light on my DVC points. I can transfer more points in when I can afford it.. but with trans n ticket costs.. . I cannot use more all the time.
