Car rental directly from hotel

I am debating between staying at a Deluxe near Epcot, or staying at a moderate and renting a car for some of our trip, as we are only going to be in Disney for a few days, and after our last trip I have had enough of Disney transportation. Is it possible to rent a car directly from our hotel, so that we would not have to travel to get the car. We would still like to utilize the Magical Express as we like this service, and also would not need a car the first night since we would most likely stay at Port Orleans Riverside and be going to DTD that night, we could just take the boat.

The only resort that you can do this at, that is on Disney property, is the Dolphin. This is where Alamo/National have a counter. There are other companies located in the DTD resorts though....Budget, for example, is located at the Doubletree.
Some of these offsite companies will come and get you and then return you to your resort after you return the car...but that can change.
If you rent at the Car Care Center, you can arrange, ahead of time, a ride to their office...by the entrance to MK.
The Alamo/National office at the Dolphin does not have any pickup service..you have to go there. This is where I rent from...especially when I stay at the BW. Just walk over.

Rental agencies generally off the best deals with a weekly rate. Sometimes you can qualify for a weekly rate for as few as 5 days. Price renting for your entire stay with a pickup and drop off at MCO. You might wind up paying less then renting for 3 or 4 days with a pickup at a resort in the WDW area.

You can use RAC to check your luggage for your return flight, even if you don't take a bus back to MCO. There is a sticky thread at the top of this board. Some guests use DME for luggage only for their arrival. Read the thread where the pros and cons are discussed.
