got car hire with alamo its astandard 2 door small car says it can haold 4 people and 1 case there is only 2 of us but 2 cases will we all fit ? anyone else had this ?

We always rent full size or larger now but our 1st trip in 2003 we were 4 adults, had the cheapest/smallest car available at the time and we had no problems.

There is always chance of a free upgrade and I doubt you will get a 2 door, 99% of rental cars are 4 doors, you are unlucky if you get a 2 dr, I have rented over 30 cars over there, always pay for 2 door yet never had one.

I wouldn't worry about it for 2 adults and 2 cases.

You normally get a row of cars to choose from not always a full row but a least a few. We rented from alamo last month I didn't see any 2 door compact or Economy cars all 4 doors what I seen anyway :)

Just had another thought about this thread, who has said 4 people and 1 case?

Smallest car on Alamo's fleet says 5 passengers and 2 luggage https://www.alamo.com/fleet.do

Wonder if someone is trying to get you to upgrade?

We always get the 2dr when it's just the 2 of us travelling and we've never been given a 2dr its always a 4dr car.
No problem with 2 cases ours always fit into the boot.

Nice fleet of cars offered by Alamo. Recently booked with a company http://www.pointcarhire.com and their car variety is also good and along with that their car hire rates are also quite reasonable and I was quite satisfied with the services offered.

Waaaay overpriced, just got a quote for our trip in August 2 weeks 7 seater with Platinum GBP 506.47 for 14 day

Same can be booked on Netflights for £369.00 less 5% cashback = £350.55.
£155.92 is a massive difference.

hi it comes as a package from cosmos and our invoice says economy standard 2dr alamo !

As I said I think they are trying to get people to pay for upgrade to a bigger car. You will be fine with smallest car for 2 people.

yep you'll be fine and at the desk don't listen to them if they say it'll be wind up windows and no central locking as that almost never happens

the smallest car at alamo in orlando is big enough for 2 people and many cases..
i had 3 people in the smallest car (with all our suitcases) last June and there was plenty of room..

be very careful when you pick up your car in orlando..
the agent at the alamo desk will try to convince you that the car you're renting is too small and that you should upgrade.....
do NOT listen to him/her....
just keep the car you've reserved..
when you get out to the parking lot you'll be able to choose a car from an entire row of cars...
go down the row and choose the one you want..

the alamo desk agent i had pulled out a picture of an itty bitty little car and said - see this is the car you're renting....see how small it is... you need to upgade...he was very aggressive about it....but i ignored him and kept my reservation as is.....

in the end, i got a really nice car (it was one of the cars in the row of cheapest cars) - it had automatic door locks and power windows and of course A/C and CD player ...and had plenty of space inside the car and for the luggage...
and it was the cheapest car...
and it had very low mileage...you can get into the car and check the mileage...

i always try to get a car with the lowest mileage..

bottom line - alamo's smallest car in orlando is more than big enough for two people and all of your suitcases...(it's much bigger than my car at home)..

When I collected in Feb from Alamo Tampa I had booked full size 7 seater SUV, I was shown pics of crossover SUV's and told they only had a poor selection available but I could upgrade to a Chevy Tahoe for $40/day. Only another $280 (I had only paid £130 originally) I said no thank you.
He then said "let me look what I can do" he found the best rate he had ever seen, $17.99/day, I said no thank you.
Eventually after trying to sell me sat nav and roadside assist I got my paperwork and out to choose from the row of Full size SUV's. He was correct not much choice (2 cars) but one was a Chevy Tahoe he had just tried to get me to pay $280 for.

Know what you want before you arrive at a rental desk and don't take anything extra they offer.

yes, that was the story for me, but with the smallest cars....the car he tried to get me to upgrade to was the very car i ended up getting (for free so to speak)..

that's my one criticism of alamo.......it's happened to me every single time i've rented from them....they've tried to push me into an upgrade..
and you reminded me...they also try to push that roadside assist....so annoying....but stick to your guns and just say 'no'...

but the cars themselves have always been good......and i love being able to pick from a row of cars...

You can pick from a row with Dollar(Or Thrifty) since last year. Thankfully when using Dollar express they have never tried any hard sell, just free upgrades and out of there in no time.

i always check all the companies, but so far alamo has always come out best when i've priced them....
i ended up using alamo in detroit as well..
but hertz in chicago...hertz worked out cheapest for us there a few years back (go figure)...

Ok so maybe a stupid question here lol but do Alamo in MCO do Economy cars I ask this as the first line of cars we came to was compact cars and thinking back to last month I don't remember seeing a Economy sign :)

That is a noticeable difference. But I feel that it does not happen always that we are able to get the best deals from the same company. Its services can be bit cheaper at some locations and at the same time the services can be costlier at some other locations. Generally in case of brokers like Pointcarhire, the car hire rates vary from place to place as they are listing car hire deals from variety of suppliers. So finally whenever we need to rent a car, we have to research on the latest deals available from various companies and then pick up the best one as per our needs.

when i rented last year, economy and compact were in the same line...
i reserved the smallest (cheapest car) on the alamo website - which is the economy car..

when i got to the alamo desk at MCO the guy tossed this picture across the desk at me of an economy car - saying it's tiny and two people won't fit and suitcases won't fit and blah blah blah..
i ignored him and refused to upgrade to compact..

when i got out to the lot i asked the alamo person there, where the economy row was and she pointed to the compact car row...

i said, no i want economy and she said that's it...it's the same row as compact...

and in fact, in the row were both compact and economy cars.....i ended up picking what they define as compact....but the economy cars were also sufficiently large...the only reason i picked the one i did was because of the automatic door locks (which i always like to have for safety) and the low mileage...
all of the cars in that row had plenty of luggage space and internal space...

all of them would have fit 4 people fine...not just 2...

Easy option is to check in online with Alamo - no hassle from anyone at the desk then!

I went for a Ford Escape and the couple that went with us opted for a Mazda 6 as she wanted something smaller, these cars were in the same row. The Mazda is probably one of the smallest cars ive seen anyone go for in terms of hire car in Orlando - it still fit 3 people and 3 cases in there, no problems!
